ilikethecokev2 It's becaise people want superheroes to be really serious and believable nowadays. The Dark Knight is more of a crime drama with Batman characters than a hero movie, and while I love it I do miss when these movies were more fun and campy.
aeronirvanazeppelin Well, Batman is the world's greatest detective after all. I think these Batman movies just need a mixture of fun and detective mysteries. I think Battfleck will give us what we all want.
You can defend it all you want to but, no, it is not a "misunderstood masterpiece". It's fine if you like and enjoy the movie, but don't exaggerate the quality of it lol
I think this one was the best of the Schumacher Batman movies. Thanks in no small part to Jim Carrey's performance. He made The Riddler look so...maniacal and flamboyantly egoistic.
It undoubtedly is the best of the Schumacher Batman movies. He only did one other one, and that movie is terrible. In fact, Batman & Robin might just be SO terrible that it's kinda good lol.
Now this is how you cast a Batman movie. Jim Carrey as the ape shit crazy Riddler, Val Kilmer with that deep smooth voice as Batman/Wayne, Nicole Kidman one of the most sexy love interest for Batman, Alfred what else can you say he's perfect!
it was horrible though. jim carrey is nothing like the riddler. the riddler is an intelligent mastermind who doesnt mind getting hurt in the process of learning some secrets. this ridlder is just, jim carrey. nothing riddler about him, nicole kidman made no sense because we already had both vicki vale and selina kyle (Atleast they gave a reason of why vicki vale isnt there anymore but selina kyle? no) and val kilmer was a bad brcue wayne, he had the voice, but the looks? no, michael keaton gave a new idea on bruce wayne.. val kilmer just ruined it..
Yeah, both Riddler and Two-Face acting like crazy dipshits is exactly like how it was in the comics right? This is definitely not a good movie, but I will say this. It is a better experience than B&R and the new DCU Batman movies.
The beginning of the song is really tenses up and begins to sound more cool you begin to realize that your feeling like your going to kick butt like Batman or could be used as a alarm to get up lol.
Riddler and Two Face can make a pretty lethal combination, I figured you could use a hand. Two against two are better odds. I can't promise I won't kill Harvey. A man has to go his own way. A friend taught me that. Not just a friend.... A PARTNER.
This movie is so fun. What with The Riddler and Two-Face's ham-to-ham combat, the catchy music (it's a pretty kick-ass score) and the decent action. It's just so damned fun.
This is sorta related but whatever. Here's my top 7 Batman movies: 1. Batman Returns 2. The Dark Knight 3. Batman 4. Batman Begins 5. The Dark Knight Rises 6. Batman Forever 7. I think you know which one...
1.Batman 2.Batman Returns 3.The Dark Knight 4. Batman Begins 5. Batman Forever 6. The Dark Knight Rises 7. Batman: Mask of The Phantasm 8. ..and yeah.. that other one.
@@simonster-9094 I partially agree, Val Kilmer was a decent Bruce Wayne, Kidman did her job and Jim Carrey really worked as The Riddle but the story and Schumacher´s directing were very messy.
"yeah um I'll have a double quarter pounder with cheese and a diet coke thanks" "that'll be $6.99 sir, cash or eftpos" "uhh... do you accept bat credit card?"
Agreed. I thought Kilmer played a good Batman even if Forever wasn't amazing. He was my second-favorite Batman after Keaton. But...after The Batman came out, Robert Pattinson may have taken that spot. I'm not sure yet.
here is why I think batman forever is hated now-a-days.... 1) if you go back and watch all the deleted scenes from batman forever, you realize that had those scenes been left in.. it would have no doubt taken the movie to a whole-nother-level... people say it didn't have enough about batman/brucewayne.. welp watch those scenes and you will see the darker understory that people cry is missing 2) batman and robin was also made by joel schumaker or whatever.. and hence, it gets painted with the same brush 3) thanks to the editing and removal of previously mentioned deleted scenes, the movie does have a certain over the top real life cartoonish feel and I guess people cant handle that 4) people hate on val kilmers batman.. but actually, watch the deleted scenes and tell me he wasn't half bad.. hes no Keaton but he def destroys looney-clooney... 5) finally, and this is the clincher for me personally.. apparently the original idea for batman forever was to get Michael Keaton.. but he didn't want it.. had he played batman in this movie, it is highly likely that todays level of scrutiny would be no where near the level of intensity we often hear and see.. personally, I loved this movie as a kid.. was it a little over the top?? ofcourse it was.. that was the mid to late 90s for ya ;D.. but deleted scenes included.. this movie holds its own as a standalone batman flick... the way I see it - Keaton movies = Bale movies > kilmer movie >>>>>>>>> bman and rbn... that's my opinion anyways
+eric johnson Rebuttals: 1. Don't forget how Billy Dee Williams got screwed out of being Two Face, we could've had Lando Calrissian freaking Lando...and instead we ended up with Tommy Lee Jones in bad make-up acting like a two-bit Joker 2. Although Batman and Robin has some issues with tone problems, Batman Forever is literally two faced about being cartoonish and continuing the dark. And what parts that aren't dark feel forced and half-assed, rather than drunk and off-the-cuff like the 60's. Kinda hard to laugh at the comedy if the timing is wrong 3. Jim Carrey's Riddler hasn't aged well and ultimately feels more like another 90's Jim Carrey being himself than a character. 4. Batman and Robin finalized the weaknesses of Joel Schumacher as a director, but all the issues were there in some part in this. 5. Chris O'Donnell and Nicole Kidman are completely awful at their parts.
I don’t care what people say about this movie. I grew up watching this and I loved and STILL love every second of it. Is it the best movie? No, and that’s ok. But god this movie rules, and is the main reason why I love Batman.
That was always how I told them apart, too. The classic Riddler was very calm and collected - a chess player sort who pretty much got meaning in his life by proving himself smarter than everybody else around him to the point where he had this compulsive need to do it and chose to use carefully organized crimes to express this. This Riddler reminded me more of the 1966 Riddler with that over-the-top slapstick portrayal, but then again even the '66 Riddler was shown to be a more cunning planner.
I dunno, creating a device that can manipulate people's brain waves and transfer their thoughts into your head, thusly increasing your own intellectual abilities and convincing everyone in the entire city to buy it so you can drain their brains is pretty smart. As much as I loved Frank Gorshin's Riddler, Jim Carrey's Riddler actually almost succeeded in essentially taking over Gotham, whereas Frank's Riddler really just wanted to steal things and defeat the Dynamic Duo in a battle of wits....
I have loved this theme since I first saw the movie in theatres as a kid. Couldn’t believe somebody could compose something so awesome. I only discovered at age 32 that the melody borrows heavily from Stravinsky’s Firebird.
yes i totally agree Burton's Batman's were the best. Especially BATMAN 1989, so what did you dislike about Batman Forever? Give me topics.....what about Two Face, Spice & Sugar?? The Riddler? Dr. Chase? The costume changes from the beginning to the end between Batman and Robin?
I’ll be honest this is one of my favourite batman movies. Sure it is goofy but I think Jim Carrey is a very fun villain who is clearly loving every second of his performance. Also Robin is my favourite character in all of comics and I think they did Robin very well in this movie even if Chris O’Donnel is in my opinion too old to be robin as he looks like he’s 18 - 20
The thing I like about Batman & Robin is that it has a sense of itself. It knew it was silly, that it was always going to be silly, so just went completely silly with no-holes barred!
This movie wasn't great but this theme sounds way more like a Batman theme than the one composed by Hans Zimmer in TDK trilogy, but nothing can beat Elfman's
wilfri castillo well there is some issues with it even tho it is good. like well Two Face in general. You really could've kept the laughing down to a minimum of once a while instead of all the fucking time and it would be a bit more memorable. Maybe show Nygma's slow turn to being well evil instead of it being like pretty quick. actually do what Mask Of The Phantasm did with bruce wayne and trying to find his happiness while battling to pick between being bruce wayne and batman, they did it a little bit but a bit more would be nice. aside from those 3 things that probably could've made it one hell of a batman movie thats close to how Burtons are even with Schumacher
No, I waaaaay prefer the style and feel of the Joel Schumacher & Tim Burton Batman-movies. just more colorful, more imaginative and just plainly more interesting. They're also just tough to compare as well, they're so different
Nope, not at all bro. I prefer Batman Forever waaaay over the Christopher Nolan Batmans. Which to me are kind of cool, but a little dull & colorless as well
My childhood Batman will always be Kilmer, this movie is so special for me. I watched every day when it was time to go to bed as a kid. A 95 kid here 🤘🏼
Batman, Batman Forever, & Batman Begins: For Comic Book Fans Batman Returns: For Goth Teens Batman & Robin: For Elementary School Kids The Dark Knight: For Everyone The Dark Knight Rises: For Masochists
UltraVioletKnight I love Batman Returns, I am not gothic at all! XD Though in all honesty Tim Burton was the only one that depicted Gotham more accurately I mean it's not called GOTHam city for nothing...Even the Arkham Games have easter eggs based on Tim's Gothic city. I liked the essence....and I agree with your statement on The Dark Knight Rises, I didn't like it all that much...
My top 7 batman movies: 1. the dark knight rises 2. the dark knight 3. batman 4. batman begins 5. batman forever 6. batman returns 7. I don't want to talk about that other one.
i've always liked this movie and val kilmer, but as i watched recently on sundance channel,i was amazed at how it managed being a loving 60s batman tribute and weaving its somber tale within its hero, funny, charming, and awesome-a misunderstood masterpiece, joel's masterpiece.
