Batman Returns Goes BEYOND Insane!! | Commentary & Reactions 

Hey guys! So a couple things: 1. Yes, this video was originally meant to come out around Christmas. For those unaware, Warner Bros blocked it and took down the original, leaving it in RU-vid limbo for the last few months. I decided to try again with The Batman hype being in full swing and to my surprise, WB actually released their claim! 2. Apologies if I've faked out anyone eagerly waiting for the Cars 3 commentary, but that ones still on its way. In the meantime, please enjoy possibly my favorite NOC Christmas special so far!

I love that Danny Devito is in less prosthetics as this oozing monster than Collin Farrel is in The Batman. That bile is just mouth wash and black & green food dye. Such a simple combination, but very effective.

I love that Christopher Walken is basically playing himself in this movie and the son looks like he's attempting to do a Walken impression straight to his face. 😂 This is Tim Burton's dark twisted craziness turned to 11 and I love it.

The slow realization what an awful person Penguin after stanning him half the film is peak comedy. You can't plan for jokes that good.

I was living for the sheer disbelief of the penguin army scene. My jaw was on the floor through that whole thing. I too could not look away, my gosh. I just watched this and came directly here. I'm so glad this film exists.

I absolutely love the Tim Burton Batman films. Both Batman (1989) & Batman Returns are so enjoyable and memorable.

Why this has always been my favorite is because of how well they did with the penguin. He genuinely unsettled me in all the right ways. The fact that he just oozes black when he speaks too animatedly or when he eats is so disturbing in the right ways.

I hope you guys are planning on doing the other two Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Even if they aren't great, I'd love to hear your commentary on them.

It's funny how this movie got in trouble for being too dark and also having McDonald's toys and stuff but The Batman (2022) gets a pass having kid friendly merch XD Not that I care, I enjoy these two films.

Could you imagine in the scene where Penguin is addressing his penguin army, after he tells them "The liberation of Gotham has begun!" the penguins raise their flippers like a Nazi salute?

2:54 they were, but the Schumacher movies are being retconned into their own universe in The Flash (and arguably already have been retconned if the recent Batman '89 comic is canon). Personally, i think the Schumacher movies really compliment the Burton ones. As Bruce becomes happier with being batman by choice instead of thinking he has to do it, and gets over the grief of the death of his parents, the brighter and more colorful the city gets.

This movie’s tonal balance between darkness and camp reminds me a lot of Sam Raimi’s “Multiverse of Madness”, I guess I have a thing for this style of superhero movie!

It says on Wikipedia that Batman Forever is a sequel to Batman Returns and Batman and Robin is a sequel to Batman Forever. (Because you wondered if the Schumacher films are connected to the Burton films)

This movie is basically an expresionist masterpiece out of his time. It doesn't matter if it isn't realisty or if the Penguin is not comic accurate (and even if it wasn't, it is now. Danny DeVito has wrotten a special comic book about the Penguin with him being like the one in this movie). It's just a different, heightened reality. Also yes, this movie was ridiculously horny. The penguin army though, that's incredible. But if the Mad Hatter has mind controlling hats, I don't see why the Penguin can't have those too

Yeah Burton did a great job of doing dark camp. It worked for Batman. Heavily influenced the animated series which was amazing. Shoemaker went Adam West camp and it fell flat on its face. I've enjoyed the gritty realistic Batman movies, but I miss Burton's vision.

Yes the first 4 Batman movies were supposed to be connected. But Tim Burton was botted off as director after Returns didn't perform well. People thought it was too weird. So Schumacher was brought on for Forever, and they got Val Kilmer instead of Keaton since he didn't want to come back. But they kept the same Alfred and Gordon. It performed well, but Kilmer didn't want to come back so they got George Clooney for B&R. But that one did so poorly that no one wanted anymote Batman movies for a while.
