BATTERED AND BRUISED - ATLANTIC HURON 

wow Atlantic Huron looks ready for the scrappers. Really beaten.

I thought the port side was bad until I saw the starboard side. This ship is beat to death!

Did notice the timber rub rail in the lock is down to the steel mounts so pretty useless and can cause damage. Spent 18 months in Sarnia On. Just down from Lake Huron working on the construction of the CN Rail tunnel under the St Clair River back in 94/95. Made friends with lots of the locals and in the summer time went sailing and swimming on the Lake. My apartment was right on the river bank so great views of the Lakers passing by, even witnessed the first ship after the winter freeze, tree in the mast and Capt wearing a topper. Thanks for post and jogging a few memories.

As far as I know CSL doesn't have a replacement for this ship coming so she may or may not be scrapped when her 5 year inspection comes up (not sure when that is?). If not then they'll most likely fix up the dents at that point since they're mostly cosmetic damage, no hurry. I hope she's got a few more years left personally! I'm a big fan of this design, with the sharp bow.

Whats going on with the Canadian shipping companies? A lot of the ships look to be in bad repair.

Goodness, looking at all the side plates buckling showing the ribs of the ship. Is this ship seaworthy? She looks really rough. Great video.

The majority of the damage looks like it's from coming in contact with a lot of different things,, but not all of it. Some of those panels that are sucked in between the ribs is not from accidents but it's from heat over time. I used to know what it was called, but it is essentially the effect of temperature change pulling the metal in and out throughout the years! Although that ship looks like it has the thinnest metal on the the hull that I've ever seen?😢😢😢

Beat to Crap. Looks almost bad enough to not be Sea Worthy. Not sure if it's reflection on Captains or Company or Both. With things like Michipicoton (Spelling)crack, this kind of damage makes you wonder.

Did they put any fenders out when they tied up? If not I can see why it looks like a total wreck!

Of all of the ships I have seen traversing the Detroit river up and down bound , this Atlantic Huron is the worse condition I have ever seen. It looks like she was made of aluminum looking at her sides. No I wouldn’t want to sail on this ship.

I don't know why they make these newer boats,without the pilot house/ bridge in the bow section??. All lakers used to have the helm in the bow,for a good reason!! Go back to building lake freighters the correct way!!

That's Shameful!! They used to scrap boats that were in nicer condition. Those dummies have bounced that ship off of everything they come across!! I can remember when great lake ships looked nice! Now they don't even paint them. Faded, rusted, smashed up Shit! Canadnadia Steam Ship Co. Shame on you! The U.S. Coast Gaurd oughta,condem that P.O.S. and they can use it as a breakwall Shows how badly things are in this crappy economy. Image is everything, and I wouldn't do business with a company that had equipment that looked like that!

Advice: you would do better to get your Fn mug out of the picture for a start............... we come here to look at boats...........
