Im old enough to remember when chavs were trendies. Dressed up in their rebook classics and their Burberry lol. Used to beat the shit out of me because i had long hair. Anyone else remember those days?
Wil there be a roster guide for each of the Total war troy factions? They helped a lot for total war warhammer for understanding the factions and units!
@@rubz1390 Ye on higher dificulty ai just smashes their units into mine with no strategic mind but my units break like nothing anyways before i could send my aegean runners to flank around.
Check out the movement guide as well. The alt + left mouse drag changed eveything for me as well as using locked group to send your frontline together towards enemies front line
@@johnrelax3563 I'm assuming that's because of some dislike of Fortnite or something? Apparently the company themselves are really decent though, and do a lot to help disadvantaged people.
I have spent 6 hours playing it. I don't know... It feels meh... Looks pretty but not awesome, combat is average and I think the game lacks personality like 3K or Warhammer. All units look and feel the same. Some faction mechanics look interesting tho.
David Cousineau eh I mean it depends on the battle but elites will take a long time to chew each other down and if ur morale holds normal units do too on the higher difficulty.
This game performance and mechanic is way better , i played rome at least 600 hours so i know what im talking about, better blob , better hiding mechanic , better map , better everything except variety
I am an old man and I miss the old way total war games played. I like heroes and new stuff but always have to mod the game to make it less arcade. This game screams arcade.
Mr Zerkovich, having spent 5 hours playing saga, I can completely agree with one of your previous videos that saga, is plain and very one dimensional. Lovely graphics on the campaign map but that is all it has going for it. I am already bored and returning to a combination of Warhammer and Empire. Love your videos, your efforts are very appreciated.
While I agree with you for the most part. Empire is probably the most boring total war man. I’d much rather play thrones than empire. Troy has potential though
CA: A company that created the terrifying and amazing AI of the Alien in Alien: Isolation Also CA: A company that created the artificial... intelligence(?) of Total War
I think it's more of a case that TW AI is limited by the engine which is still essentially the same one from the older games just updated so there's legacy issues that cause the silly AI, then CA being unable to create a decent AI for TW games due to lack of skill.
What does chav mean in British slang? is a derogatory word for a young hooligan who wears designer clothes and starts fights, usually seen as lower class. LMFAO what!? lool
@@denisnatera3633 for me what made me go straight back to warhammer was the trees not fucking off so I can see all my troops. If I want to look at trees I'll go outside lol
Ah, thanks a lot! I just picked up the game and it's my first total war title, so I felt a bit ovverwhelmed. This helped me a lot understanding the mechanics.
Nice! I learned so much already. Been playing for a couple hours and was only using what I knew from other TW games but guess lots are different in this game.
normal spears will win if kept still. chargeing spears have way lower mele defance. speers should keep formation. charger and flanking speers are a diferent story. but normal speers shoul always be kept still in the center of your army. thay will hold for a very long time. do not give them any atack orders once the enemy has atacked and thay are in combat head on. speers have high defance and charge neglect. but only when thay are standing still in formation.! chargeing speers in to two handed charger infantry is a good way to brake your lines. STEADY...!!!! HOLD THE LİNE BOYZ :=)
I wish you had covered single entity or grouped tanky myth units like the cyclops, minotaur or giants and how to use them or deal with them if your enemy has them.
Hi so your prob not gonna be able to help me with this but if I play total war Troy I am always nervous for battle bcz of a fear of losing even though I know you can quick save so do you have any tips to increase my confidence for a battle
That army would cost an absolute fortune in resources tho. You either have 1 solid army like that, or 2/3 mediocre armies. 1 army isnt enough to defend a lot of land, so you have to go for the mediocre units. Ive played loads of total war games but am struggling to get to grips with this one for some reason. Something isnt clicking.
The game sure looks good, but I just can't get over how bad the battles are. The ai isn't good at all. The unit collision and looking at the fighting up close is painful to watch. The animations are bad and it looks like they are rarely connecting with anything. Just mostly fighting the air. As far as Total War games go this is bottom tier as far as combat. I can see why it was free. I don't know how the developers looked at it's state and was like,"Yeah, this looks good enough to release.". Just the other day I had a unit playing defense against a charging unit and the enemy unit spazzed out before it reached me...just running back and forth in place. Good shit.
This whole period of military history is pretty "meh." Like a lot of folks, I've ever really been excited by the Aegean stuff outside of myth. Moreover, I've never been a huge fan of the new/old TW engine either. Sure, it looks prettier than MTWII, but the collision detection/charge still sucks. So, I won't be bothering with the game, and I suspect I am not alone. Nevertheless, once again a fantastic unit breakdown and strategic analysis. Your vids are always top quality.
@@NinoCristianini I do. :) What's wrong, somebody has something critical to say about a game you like so you get defensive about it? lol Sad. He's not wrong. The combat in this game is one of the worst in the series. Bottom tier.
Still one of my Favorite Games of all Time 😍 i have so much Love for that Time Period and maybe it's not the Best Total war Game, but it's the best Troy Game and i love it soo much for that 😁🙌
ive never heard of total war before. i do not know the chronology of this series of games. looking at steam i saw many games. some like i think its warhammer has a lot of packets. any way how might you selection of the series of games here. which is the best game to start playing with. not ever playing this series i wonder how to start picking the different games. like diablo your first pack followed by others in the series.
8:35 you deployed units in specific formation and then moved them all into the forest in the same formation. How you did that? Looks like a valuable hotkey. I didn't find one in Options.
I swear to the ruinous powers if they don't add "A giant F#@! You Dragon" as a weightclass when they release Warhammer 3 I'm gonna go all End Times on some poor fool with Vladdy Daddy
My big takeaway from this is that you can probably fight the same battle 10 or 20 times, milking it for a different experience each time. Wow....... the replayability of this game boggles the mind. I'm only a day old newb trying to figure out how to get Agamemnon not to trip over his laces, but I already love it.
I play these games casually jumping in when a new one comes along and having vids like this to refresh the knowledge of the games helps to not put me off when I jump back in. Many thanks sir
Actually I'm winning battles left and right but I don't know why, just had my first defeat and now I want to know what the difference between the units actually is 😅
Do the archers serve a purpose in this game? From what little I saw in the unit roster is seems that they have less range, ap damage, and fire rate, all while requiring more upkeep and advanced buildings
My first battle i put light infantry on the front and tried to flank with heavy because they have charge bonus. Two units from frontline fleed but somehow I managed to win.
You can still do that, just takes a different sort of planning than a battle on the open field. Mostly your cheap units would be a meat shield to the towers and archers. But you could technically use your siege units on the sides of the action to get them in place for a flank. Definitely possible. Get them on the walls in a spot there aren't focusing on, then tell them to go onto the ground and flank the enemies from there.
Anyone has any tips on Archers or slingers? I just started Troy yesterday but slingers seem to outrange and outdamage generic archers. Why and when would you use archers over slingers, I wonder?
Archers can have a more useful trajectory. Slingers probably won't be able to hit the frontline enemy units engaged with yours, without flanking. Archers will simply fire in a high arc to rain down on the enemy. Also, they can fire over walls.
@@Zerkovich Correct me if I'm wrong btw, but I started looking more in detail in the unit cards, and I've noticed that slingers whle having SIMILAR DPS to archers, deal far LESS damage (they just shoot faster), and they both have SIMILAR AMMOUNTS of ammo. So am I correct to think slingers can be good to counter other unarmored skirmishers etc.. but archers can be better at dealing damage at the enemy infantry in the long run, as they will have output more damage than slingers after spending all their ammo? Since Troy battles seems to last longer in melee, I wonder if that's another use-difference for archers/slingers? Idk just a thought i had after looking at their stats in detail again this morning. Thanks for the reply on trajectory though, hadn't thought of that at the time.
I'm an experienced (though not particularly good) TW player, and thoroughly enjoy your vids, partly for the humour, and partly as I still pick up new things from them. I couldn't concentrate for the second 5 mins of this. as was laughing so much about the chavs slip that then got stuck in your head - love it!
How to you remove the tooltip when you cursor over a unit? Not the normal that you see when you cursor over. The one to the right explaining the floating icon over a unit. I've looked online and tried all the ingame settings. No luck yet.
Hold down spacebar and you should get a list of things you can turn on or off. The one you are looking to turn off is called 'Banner Description'. There is also a hotkey for cinematic mode, which is 'K'. This removes all the ui from the screen so you can do things like watch battles. Also in that menu is an option to 'Hide Foilage', which makes it so you can see through things like trees.
