F5.5 won my purchase when I was comparing knives. The hidden liners and cleaner scale design, thicker blade stock, and my favorite sheepsfoot design I’ve seen, no flipper, best fit for me
In the past month I grabbed the brown micarta f5.5 and just yesterday the Black Friday special blacked out f5.5. I j now have the milled TI f5.5, brown micarta and the newly acquired blacked out f5.5. This is such an amazing knife! Hands down one of my favorite knives I own! Thank you for the content.
Just looked up the 5.5 on Urban EDC. The preorder price is now $229. I think the Biblio just looks better to me, and just ordered one. Thanks for sharing Wayne!
I have both. I was positive that the 5.5 was going to kick out my flipper delete Biblio.... But it didn't. The Biblio stands strong as my banger. The 5.5 is a go to for back pocket carry though
A stubbier vs pointier point doesn't necessarily mean you're 'losing' functionality with the more obtuse tip. The tips of sheepsfoot and broad wharncliffe blades are beautiful for making ***SHALLOW*** piercing cuts into a material, such as while cutting a wrapping material away from an item or making precise cuts into plastic packaging or what have you.
Yep! I feel like it is safer to grab a sheepsfoot or wharncliffe blade from the spine to make precise cuts opening boxes while making sure not to cut whatever is inside.
Idk, in my opinion a titanium liner lock made by Reate seems like a better value than a similar product made by Giant Mouse, their QC is an issue and I just don't trust Italian heat treat regardless of brand, they are always on the soft side for some reason based on my experience with GM and Lionsteel, great comparison!
The f5.5 for me. I just don't love the biblio. I bought one and like you said giant mouse qc isn't great and the biblio was no exception. Not saying it's not a good knife but I never carried it so I gave it to my buddy and he likes it and uses it alot so not a total loss.
@@WaynesSharpWorld I think so for the price. Great steel and materials it's just the action. Not a snob though. I just bought one of those coldsteel 6 inch luzon knives with 8cr13mov steel for 40 bucks and damn despite the size and price it flies open with the backflipper. It drops shut incredibly smoothly and has absolutely no play plus it has an extra spring leaf lock to reinforce it. The blade is very slicy and took the hair right off my arm and it has peirced everything I tried with ease including a saw blade and has actually held up pretty well. I have been flipping it open and dropping it shut since it arrived. The thumb studs are a little hard to use because they are way too close to the top and the handle material isn't exactly awesome but it's alot of knife that has awesome action and lockup for a low price. I love premium knives but if you want something fun and different to fidget with it's actually really fun. I know it's not really your style but I honestly think you would find yourself enjoying it as a big novelty surprisingly fidgety knife. I'd love to see your take on it some day.
Since I have not ever had either in hand can't say for sure. The 1 thing I have heard alot is some minor QC issue with Giant Mouse. Shame because the Grand is a great looking knife.
And that is true. Both of mine have lock stick. It’s something you really have to consider in a whole. For example, both of my GM’s have lock stick (which isn’t the worst QC issue in my opinion). So if it’s just lock stick, which it is, and not paired with something else like a bad grind or blade play, I can look past some lock stick... but I’ll still mention it lol. I personally still like GM but they do need to get the QC under better control.
@@WaynesSharpWorld It drives me freakin crazy. I have two knives now that from the factory and both Italian made that have this problem. My Italian 4Max is the same way.
