This is one of the great comments I have seen. It sums up perfectly what we think. there is nothing wrong with modern BMWs they just a bit bland and lack some of the BMW dynamics many people loved.
I have a petrol e60 Msport it's 2005 and has 140K miles and just bought an f10 520 diesel,never wanted a diesel but could not find even 1 petrol f10 for sale in Ireland.I also think the e60 looks better I can't even bring myself to sell the e60 I've had it to long and it has never given me any trouble just service tyres petrol.but it's only doing 23mpg and costs over €1000 per year on road tax here.by the way I had an e39 before the e60 and that was also a great car and looked outstanding in its day.
We think the e60 is such a good and handle it’s size so well. Very pretty too but although modern cars tend to be more boring they are often much better day to day!
great bit of content guys im a big fan of the old e60s iv had 2 both m47 engine bullet proof easy to work on im still driving 2007 lci model i love it to bits mapped 220b i was thinking to move up a notch but az you guys said thay are good cars the ow e60s timmles styling way ahead of time stunning vid lads
E60 feels better to drive, more agile and has a beautiful sporty but subtle exterior but also comes with a crappy plastic early 2000s interior and not the most reliable BMW. The F10 is more reliable, bigger and comfier but lost that distinct BMW feel i.e not really exciting to drive, steering feels and pedals feel numb and "dead" like a video game steering wheel. Overall, if you want a comfy and reliable daily driver, the F10 is perfect, if you crave a more sporty daily driver, go for an msport E60 cause even the m-sport F10 feels soft and dull. If you want an F10, i'd advise to go for the LCI model with the new B47 engine. I'm curious to know what the new G30 feels like, from what I heard, its basically an F10 with a better exterior and interior and also with further refinement
Honestly wish we put it that way ourselves, that is exactly what we trying to say! But I find this has happened with a lot of modern cars being perfect and nothing wrong with them but leaves them lacking a little character
E60 is way more better in exterior looks than f10 , f10 looks lighter but with a better interior, e60 is the best looking car with better handling , faster , and more of a drivers car
Hi Lads , love what you are doing. Having owned many E39s petrol and diesel, E61s 530d and an F11 530 d 2012 I really get where you are coming from. My F11 530d was bought as a low milage reliable motorway muncher and I did 25k effortlessly in 6 months driving to Europe. After these miles I really started to mill the e61 for charm appeal and most importantly wind noise in the F11 in my owner ship seems crazy… I had good try’s but the design of the F11 means the windscreen is much closer to the driver and dash resulting in more noise on the longer runs in my opinion. I ended up going back to my favoured E61 and the cabin noise damping difference is astonishing. Haven’t seen much in this online but if you are choosing an F10/11 get it up to speed to check you are happy. E61 seems more engaging to drive in good condition too. Hope this helps if you are deciding which one to buy.
Have both E60 (2009 LCI N47) and F10 (2013 N47). Both automatic and both M Sport. F11 has higher mileage, but better wind noise insulation. Maybe you have a problem?
We own both of these cars, what we are trying to say is that the F10 is great but just becoming more vanilla. Also we picked our up for a lot less than £12k
I watched your video a while ago hoping it's not true. However, me being in the market for F10 (and previously owned E60 for many years) now I had to try the F10. To be honest, I was utterly disappointed how the car handles and drives. The electric streering gives very little feel compared to E60's streeing. Suspension is quite soft, it's a comfortable car, especially with the new sound insolation which is superb. I can fully agree with what you presented. F10 is a better car but it's not a BMW anymore IMHO. There's no BMW sauce anymore. It's a very comfortable cruiser, effortless driving experience and it looks stunning. That being said, I will try the W212. As now it's not a great driver's machine I might as well go for the E class which is probably even more smoother. I would greatly appreciate if you have some feedback about W212 compared to F10 (most important points being how much is the steeering number and how much it's more comfortable). :)
Glad you have tried both and understand what we mean. The F10 is great and we still have ours as it is the better daily. We still massively prefer it to the Mercedes alternative because although it doesn't have as much feel as the E60 it still handles very well compared to Audi and Mercedes of the time. Ours is now approaching 210k miles and still going strong may need to see what the next model is like!
Both are great cars, but personally, I prefered the E60 (at least when driving each of them back when they were new). The F10 was very comfortable and nice to drive, but it lacked a bit of that "solid and weighty feeling" that the E60 have. The E60 reminded me more about the E34 I once owned, only better and more modern. While the F10 felt "less uniqe" compared to other new cars in its class, if that makes sense.
Personally I can't stand the E60 looks while i love the F10 looks. Also heard that the E60 seems to have a lot of reliability problems and costly repairs while I've heard that other than a few timing chain problems the F10(Especially from 2012 and onwards) seems to be pretty reliable.
Looks are personal preference but I’d definitely say the f10 has more prestige though. Our e60 has covered just under 280k miles and the f10 is on its way at 185k. Modern BMW are starting to get a pretty bad rep with reliability but ours are doing to bad!
@@billymonkey111 Yeah but the timing chain problems were waaay more common on the E60 generation. Also there was an engine update in 2011 so 12 model year is supossed to have better chain. Still can happen but not as common. But if I buy one I might change the chain anyway for peace of mind.
@@HudRodAutomotive just changed on mine . Was running the original chain and I reached 184k . Regular device at 5k . Worth every penny for chain replace . Sounds like another car now
If you should tell me to make choice from these mercedes and bmw models in these particular segments e34 vs w124 i will go for e34 E39 vs w210= w210 my choice E60 vs w211= e60 my choice F10 vs w212 = w212 e class my choice G30 vs w213 = w213 , after e60 my predilections of choice go to mercedes including 3 series
In our opinion we prefer any BMW over their Mercedes counterpart. They just handle so much better. With the exception of the cool engines in the merc, such as 55 Amg’s But they handle worse. Wouldn’t want to take to the Nurburgring like a bmw
Lol you guys don’t know much about e60 too so don’t kus the guys in the vid lmao. And e60 only has Bluetooth if it’s a year or two after release meaning 05 55pl8 does not have Bluetooth unless it’s business edition. My 55 Pl8 does not have Bluetooth
The 5 series is very comfy car for a daily driver, however we find the E60 is a bit more nimble, lighter and has better feel for the road then the newer F10. Although the F10 is not a bad car to chuck around corners it is not as comfortable doing it but it is quieter and more refined on for your normal motorway and city driving. On a side note the F10 gets significantly better economy in town (partly because of start stop).
what would people suggest, currently thinking either e61 or f11 for my next motor (in 535d form). i want a really fun car that can do long distances on dual carrage way and motorways and get good fuel ecconamy. going to be an upgrade from my high milage e91 330d.
The F10/11 is a huge jump in both perceived quality and actual engineering quality and a big step up in reliability and comfort. The E60 is a slight step up from a 3 series whereas the F10 is a slight step down from a 7 series, double wishbone suspension and the incredible auto are good reasons for the upgrade.
e60 desgin is timeless, it's not aged at all considering it came out in 2003 but the fact that it was designed already in 1997 which is mindblowing. They considered making it before e39 which also beautiful
I don't know why bmw has cut down on many things ,5 series nowadays looks like 3 series, nolonger as strong as the way it used to be, not that fast anymore, out dated designs
We liked the design of the E60 a lot and the way it flows, however we do believe the modern BMW are not as good looking from a design point of view but are very smart and fashionable which is what more people want!
Over last the 6 years the e60 has cost us around £2200 in repairs and maintenance which included tires, the f10 over the last 3 years has been around £1000 so pretty similar
We still own both cars, looks are opinionated but we just find the f10 styling very boring. Nothing wrong with it and it is probably more stylish and prestigious but we don’t very interesting
This is very very easy answer! Chis bangle design just looks like shit. Chris bangle tried to mix citroen design with bmw design and this is the result. Hideous! So you can choose just from that.. but also on all other terms the f10 is just a better ride and its probably the best design from Bmw ever.. the lines on it are just so timeless and smooth. With the f10 Bmw looked like Bmw again thankfully.🎉
The Chris bangle design is very love hate, but I was outlandish and interesting. The f10 is great looking car but very vanilla, helping it blend in everywhere
New generational bmws are just bland wants to do mercedes kind of things , mercedes is mercedes and bmw should also be bmw, seems like bmw are loosing the architectural confidence
Get an f10 m sport and its better looking. That is an se so you cant compare its looks. Sounds like your bias towards the e60... and the e60 has bluetooth
Yh we bought that f10, it’s a luxury spec, the msport is better looking. Both cars are great we just prefer to drive the F10 everyday but find aspect of the e60 a little more exciting. When talking about Bluetooth we were talking about Bluetooth media
We find the older car lovely to drive. We still own both and as car to drive every day and very far the F10 is better but as a drivers car we prefer the E60. The F10 we done over 10,000 miles in since and its very very good for when you just want to get the job done in comfort

You just talk shit about the F10 because you probably can't afford one... i own an Alpine White 7 Series F02 and it's basically the bigger version of the F10 and it drives and feels awesome! Plus it has a more premium interior rather than the plastic boring E60 interior...
Alex owns the F10, so yes we can afford it. They are not exactly expensive, in fact they are affordable which is why they are so good!. Simply, we say is we prefer the styling of the e60 and F10 for daily driving.
@@HudRodAutomotive They are Affordable in the Uk just because the cars in the Uk are right hand drive and right hand drive cars are cheaper everywhere... Try buying one in the rest of europe with a left hand drive and see how "affordable" they are...
I have a e60 absolutely love it. Debating to get a f10 but visability wise it’s so restricted and space has been reduced so much. Plus the swirl flaps break.
F10 should have been the m sport version it looks a lot better than the se you have, did like the e60 back in the old days but its just to old and square and...slabby, inside is also very poor in comparison to the f10. Also that e60 sounds to much like a John 🦌. But hey oh each to their own.
We would like to try a M sport of a more powerful F10. The F10 520d is a "luxury" spec designation which we think is perfect for a daily driving use. This is where we believe the F10 excels. however if we were to choose between both M5s to have fun with we would probably go for the E60. We love them both F10 and E60, we both own them in 520d as its one of the best allrounders for the road. To be honest we love all the 5 series platforms! and yes we are possibly starting suspect that 280,000 miles is starting catching up with E60!
That is what we think too, but the F10 is such a great daily. It does everything so well. Can't really complain about it, it was made for a new generation of consumer.
What 😅 prefer a less quality and cheap car inside and outside.. timing chain problems and much more. Funny video, you compare that to a real high quality car. That F10 have B47 engine and the transmission is superior when compare to e6x models.

The saving grace of the f10 is just the interior and some few new techs e60 I think has better horse power at a high speed but when it comes to looks and handling I prefer e60
f10 is a step up...i had e60 before..BS when u say e60s similar to f10...its not even close...f10s way balanced and much refined...if you compare f10 and g30 (slight steering difference with cosmetics) yes their way too similar but e60? cut the BS 😅😅😅
We own both of these cars still, we are just saying that the f10 is very good daily but very numb and boring to drive. The older e60 is has more feel to it and nicer to drive on a back road for example. The f10 is better every day but the e60 is still a great car
