“There goes a dollar”, “there goes 50 cents” 😂 totally me if I were doing this lol. Thanks for the great review! Just the push I needed to repurchase the Tatcha essence 🥰
I still swear by the pyunkang Yul essence toner, nice and simple with a short ingredient list. I don't know why but it just seems to make such a difference to my skin, I always come back to it. Love the Missha time revolution though, and I'm definitely going to pick up that cosrx one when its on sale next
I use these two from Purito, Galacto Niacin 97 and Fermented Complex 94, mixing these two cover all the ferments and galactomisses your skin need plus at least 5% Niacinamide in each product among other really beneficial ingredients like Centella Asiatica, plus they’re even cheaper than CosRx, you should review the line, I think you’ll love it.
I’ve tried all of them except 1 and no they are not better than sk ii . None of them brightens, firm and fight those wrinkles. I believe everyone’s skin is different
Laura Mom of Three hi Laura, sorry for replying late.. benton has 80%galactomyces ff, and neogen 93%saccharomyces ff.. for me i like the benton essence better , it contains peptides and ceramides,, and the list of ingredients is shorter than neogen. I like it short and simple, less irritation😅.. both snail bee and aloe lines from benton are good ones! See if you can get those minis to try before purchasing the fullsizes 😉
Sarah, between the Scinic and the Cosrx, which do you think is better for very dry skin? I've never used an essence, but have used everything else under the sun. I've been using Retin-A since my mid 20s, and am now 60, with pretty decent skin. Thank you so much for the essence review. You are incredibly knowledgeable. Have a great weekend! René
I am finishing my second big bottle of SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. I like it. But I am SO eager to try the Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence! No more wasting money on good skincare in 2020!
I finally after hearing about sk-II for so long I caved and gave it a shot. I had so many less breakouts, the scarring was different, it didn’t take ahold on my face while using sk-II and my skin, specifically my hands too, looked years younger, super hydrated and plump and I’m only 31! It was crazy the difference I saw. I was sold on it when I saw the difference in my hands. Now, I cannot afford it, but all I’m saying, is, for my birthday I at LEAST should get it once a year …. Or someone’s gonna be siiiingleeeee lol :) sk-II is amazing
I love the cosrx one, I have found it to do wonders on my skin but ran out of it a few weeks ago. I currently am using the Missha artemisia and may coop raw sauce and I am really enjoying both of them, especially may coop one. I have never tried the sk ll one though so I can't say whether they are better, however I enjoy these so much I don't see the reason to pay a fortune for it either. 😍😘
I'm late to this party lol but I'm very excited to try these out. SK-II has been my essence for years, and I'll be honest. It really has done wonders for my skin, I love it..but, it's painful everytime I buy a bottle because of the price. I've seen incredible results, so that justified the price for me for a long time. I will try these out and see how it goes!!
I love fermented essences! My favorite so far is a Japanese Sake ferment by KikoMasamune that also has ceremides & niacinamide. I adore Secret Key and Cosrx, too. I want to try the ferment from Purito and the one from your video the other day..Scinic. The KikoMasamune is $13 for 16 oz so I am able to use it all over my body 👍🏻 💕💕
Sarah I wanted to give you an update on the From Nature AGE Treatment Essence. I think you would absolutely love it. It's very, very hydrating. It's more "substantial" or weighty than the SKII and Secret Key. I don't know if I'll repurchase because I really love the waterweight consistency of the Secret Key (I've been through 4 bottles.) From Nature is not viscous per say, but more viscous than SKII and Secret Key for sure. Just thought I'd let you know ☺️💓 stay warm 🥶❄️
I'm going to have to put both of those on my list. A few of the kbeauty online sites have been having Chinese New year sales so I'm going to have to see if any of my shopping list items are included. Definitely sounds the like FROM Nature essence is right up my alley 😃
I recently bought the cosrx snail mucin essence and I’ve REALLY been enjoying it on my combo acne prone skin type! I’m curious to try the cosrx essence you mentioned in this video. Thank you so much for your informative videos! ❤️
Secret Key is a Korean company and they make one of the best dupes for SKII on the market in terms of ingredients, but at a much more affordable price point. It’s Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence ROSE EDITION that is also in a large clear, frosted glass bottle with a silver or rose gold top (I decant it into a glass fine mist spray bottle so I forget the top). It also has a short ingredient list with more ferments than SKII and the addition of niacinamide. There is also a Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence (not Rose Edition) and a 24K Gold Edition but both of these have entirely different ingredients and the Rose Edition is the closest dupe to SKII.
Great video! I agree, re: the SK-ll Essence I went through several samples and a 30ml bottle and liked it, but it wasn't nearly as hydrating as my COSRX 95 Galactomyces Essence. Now I combine that with their snail essence and it's even better (the snail was too tacky by itself). Just an FYI about the Amorepacific Essence (that I'm OBSESSED with 🤣): It's actually made with fermented tea leaves. I read an article about how they use this rare tea and only allow tea masters to do the complicated, time consuming fermentation process. They mention it's fermented in the description on their website, but not in the ingredients. I tried a few samples from Sephora and fell in love! Sephora Canada only sells the large size, which is $200.00 CAD. I ordered a few vials from eBay for around $5.00 each and spilled one! I would buy the size you have in a hot minute if I could get it in Canada.
@@selena.996 I actually found lots of ten 5ml samples (50 mls). The best deal I found was $18.00 CAD and free shipping! I ordered it, lol. I plan to put them in my old SK-ll 30 ml essence container. The price per ml is $0.36 CAD vs $1.67 for the 120 ml Amorepacific on Sephora Canada. That's a 78% savings. 😁 I'll leave the link below.
I've just started using the I'm From Mugwort essence and so far I love it. I have sensitive, acne prone, combination skin. I have found it to soothe and hydrate. And I find that I have a lot less break-outs since I started using it in my routine.
SKII facial treatment essence contains methylparaben, which can disrupt hormone and cause skin allergic reaction. This company has invested so much money on marketing and PR instead of creating healthier formula.
The most common type of feared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reason parabens. It's a cheap, effective and well-tolerated ingredient to make sure the cosmetic formula does not go wrong too soon. Apart from the general controversy around parabens (we wrote about it more here), there is a 2006 in-vitro (made in the lab not on real people) research about methylparaben (MP) showing that when exposed to sunlight, MP treated skin cells suffered more harm than non-MP treated skin cells. The study was not done with real people on real skin but still - using a good sunscreen next to MP containing products is a good idea. (Well, in fact using a sunscreen is always a good idea. :)) Sited by the most current research on this ingredient. This was taken from SKII ingredient list. Hope that helps calm your mind on the disruption of hormones. Toxicology, Volume 227, Issues 1-2, 3 October 2006, Pages 62-72, Methylparaben potentiates UV-induced damage of skin keratinocytes. No hormonal changes found in this study.
Oh yes, save yourself some money and pick up one of these. If you have drier skin or like something a little thicker pick up the Cosrx. If you have oiler skin or tend to breakout pick up the Tatcha. The Scinic is a great budget friendly essence. You can't go wrong with any of these and save some cash for something else.
Aren't you gonna try out The Neogen one or the Secret Key rose edition one? Anyway so grateful for your channel😁. Your reviews are always so articulate.
Hello whats the differnece of rose edition to original... and whats best?? Im currently using neogen essence but Im almost out... i wannn try secret key
@@LotusXiao the rose edition one contain niacinamide ,which the original version doesn't. Also it got rose water. I prefer the Neogen one instead of Secret Key.
So many people ask if they need them in their Routine, but after a few weeks of using it people will notice a big improvement in hydration as well as Brightening effects. I can't imagine going without it.
Thank you for this! I'm currently using one from Secret Key (The rose edition one) and I do enjoy it but I think that CosRX one may be a little more hydrating.
Thank you for the info! I have just gotten into Korean skin care and LOVE essences. I love how you explain the ingredients and what they do. I am super happy I have found your channel!
So glad you found me here! I agree with you, once I added essences to my routine I'll never go back. They add so much hydration and brightness to my skin. 😍
Fabulous info!!! I still haven’t tried the Tatcha or CosRX, which I want to. Do you watch Kelly Driscoll’s channel? She reviews, etc, K -Beauty skincare and just did a Korean Skincare Empties Winter Edition video. Here’s the link... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z-DN_9HrPuo.html. I think that you would really like her. She reminds me a lot of you in the sense that you’re both so knowledgeable and passionate. Thanks, beeeautiful🍃🌸
No worries, when I first started learning about ferments and essences I wondered the same thing. I think the sake would be different because of the high amount of alcohol in it, I think it would end up drying out your skin whereas the essences have taken the alcohol out through the fermentation process.
Glad I saw this because I got a little bottle from Sephora too and didn't realize it was fermented and thought it smelled like it had gone bad. I won't throw it out now. I was going to get the Paula's Choice brightening essence but will put that on hold to try the Cosrx. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the video. I bought the Missha essence from amazon a few weeks ago and added to my nighttime routine. it’s really moisturizing! My skin feels so soft. After I’m done with it I think I’ll try the cosryx brand since I also use their hyaluronic acid serum. Have a good day!
jovi girl I also bought the Missha from Amazon. I’ve been using it for a few weeks at night and it’s really hydrating! I top it with a hyaluronic acid serum and then moisturizer. my once semi dry mature skin is so soft now!
I’m so happy you did this video!!!! FTE are a non negotiable in my routine, probably have nine on the go right now. I just don’t feel the same if I don’t use one😊 I love that you did this comparison, maybe go to the next step and compare some toners? I have about 15 that all are alcohol and fragrance free!
I've got a big VS series of toners, it's about four videos long, I'm going to release them next week. 😃 Do you have a favorite toner out of the ones you've tried?
The amore Pacific works. Especially for acne prone oily angry skin. Just works. Really really beautiful simple formula ( skII makes my skin angry and grow pimples)
I got the tatcha one a couple months ago from QVC with deep cleanser and the silk cream ...all full size for $128...and you know I locked in that auto delivery... 🤭😉😁
I think I will give the Cosrx essence a try, after I’ve used the Isntree hyaluronic toner for a bit. Now I am curious to what the original name of the Cosrx was 😂
It had "white power" in its name which is quite offensive in the west. Whitening in Korean translates to brightening. So, the name meant powerful brightening.
Sorry but that can be a substitude, but the best essence still will be the one and only FTE. The only essence that you can see the result within first week of use, no compare.
Missha Time Revolution (pro ferment version) recently gave me a major skin reaction just after 1 single use. Irritation and white small pustules all over my face that took around 4 days to heal. It's weird because I use Microgen Microessence on a daily basis, so I know I'm not sensitive to the ferments. I also used up a sample of the Tatcha without any issues (I loved it). I was wondering it it could have been the high concentration of niacinamide but maybe it was the ingredient you mention. 😙
I don't like the price of sk11 😭that's all I hate but using it over time idk what it was but it was amazing I think it's one of those products u have to use daily day and night for months to see the results I saw , it's just the price I hate so I'm hunting but I may end up buying it again but really the price is what gets me. I haven't tried the Pacifica greentea but the big bottle was on the sale page and with the 1 time 29% off they have now makes it like 112.
Thanks! I could name some more for sure, as I’ve been using FTEs for a while now. I think SKII and Tatcha are popular because of successful marketing as well as being good products. There many others out there. 👍🏻
I recently went through a travel size Tatcha essence which I quite liked. Very light but at the same time hydrating. I also really like the Benton Fermentation Essence.
I too LOVE the Tatcha...and I periodically treat myself to it. Like you, I don't know what it is about that stuff...I also LOVE their Rice Polish in the same weird way. For me, there seems to be some magic infused in those 2 products! In between times I use the Missha TR and really enjoy it. Haven't yet found anything that I can enjoy subbing for the Rice Polish.
So interestinly at first I did not like the Rice Polish, but I wanted to try it again and I ordered the "gentle" version and I love it now! I think my skin just wanted something a bit less rough and the gentle version was perfect! Been meaning to review it for a long time, try to get to it this week!
Forgot to mention I also have Purito Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence but it's more viscous so I haven't used it consistently since I live for that watery consistency. It has fantastic ingredients though. Sarah, how does the consistency of the Scinic compare to SKII?
I'm going to have to check that one out as well! I've been loving Purito lately. 😍 The Scinic is very slightly more viscous than the SKII. I think the SKII is more watery than all of them with the exception of the Tatcha. The cosrx is by far the thickest of them all, which I like because I can layer it over the other essence.
The first time I bought SKII I bought it fro. A website that I had never used before. Saw nothing and gave it away. My friend who would barely wash her face raved about it. Lol. I got the little bottles as point perks years later. I def liked it the second time around. My daughter loves it. I def want to try some of these different ones. I don't want to keep spending money on it, even with a discount.
It just gets to be so pricey. So hard to fall in love with something expensive. I'd definitely recommend trying one on this list to save a little money.
I have 3 of them and currently awaiting shipment of the Amore Pacific and the Scinic. I do not plan on repurchasing the Tatcha one b/c I like the COSRX galactomyces better and it so much better on my wallet! A lot of people rave about the Tatcha Essence, but it is just OK on my skin. Thanks Sarah for the video!
I love the Tatcha, but if I couldn't find it in the QVC Special Price sets I don't think I would shell out $95 for it on it's own. The QVC sets with it were such good deals. I'm loving the AmorePacific. I waited so long to purchase it and I'm glad I finally did.
Oh that’s so cool to know I had no idea that the Cosrx galactomyses was an actual essence. I though it was named as a toner and I just assumed it was a regular one. Now that I know that it’s comparable to it I will be buying one as soon as I get paid lol. Plus I have a 20% off and I think Ulta carries it. I am confused why Ulta got rid of the rice mask, I was so happy I could always buy it from them. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm always excited when Ulta sends out those 20% off coupons! They have a very small selection of Cosrx but they carry most of the products that I use from them. Cosrx must be changing their catalogue of products out and bringing new ones in. Their new Centella line is pretty decent, but I still like their original products like the rice mask and honey masks.
I agree- if you use a toner then I would definitely use that first then apply the essence. It does seem like a lot of people only use a toner or essence but I prefer using a toner and an essence.
I love watching your videos! I'm always late because I'm busy with kids but your the first one I watch when I can. Thanks for all the info Sarah you save me so much money and Lord knows I need it 👏👏
You could use it like a toner by applying it with a cotton pad. Although if you have combination skin one that I love is the Cosrx AHA BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner- this one works well on a cotton pad, does some mild exfoliation, and then you can apply your serums or moisturizer.
Thank you so much for your kind comments! It's crazy how some of these luxe brands can get away with charging $100's for something when there are much better similar products that cost significantly less.
Just started using corsx one , I am in love ! I don’t like the texture and I prefer the sk2, but for the price and result I will keep buying the cheap one for sure
Please let me know that “ Cosrx garakutomisesu 95 Essence 100ml (Galactomyces 95 Essence)” and “COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence” are the same one? Please please reply me 🙏🙏🙏
They are two different products. The Galactomyces is a fermented essence that you can use in your routine to give skin a boost of hydration and brightness. The Advanced Snail Mucin Essence is their snail essence, which is much thicker- it does a great job healing irritated, dry, or inflamed skin. Both are great essences. If you don't have any skin issues but just looking to add some moisture the galactomyces is a wonderful essence. If you have any issues with severe dryness, flaking, irritation, or acne I'd recommend the Advanced Snail Mucin Essence. I hope this helps a bit!
Thanks for a very informative video. I used the Missha through two bottles and it didn’t do anything for me. I am currently working my way through a FAB toner and plan to give the COSRX a shot based on your recommendation. I’ve used their products with success before. Which reminds me ... I bought their snail slime and need to muster the courage to try it. Finally, speaking of sake, have you tried Sake High Moisture Skin Lotion Toner from Kikumasamune?
I currently use the SK-II, but would love to find a good alternative. Problem is, they often contain niacinamide, which makes me break out in cystic acne. :-(
Niacinamide is in so many products, that must be extremely challenging to avoid. I can't imagine. The Cosrx might be the only one on this list that doesn't contain Niacinamide.
@@NOBSBeauty Nope, second ingredient. The only essence I've found that doesn't have it, and is available to buy here in the states is one by Benton, but I don't know much about it. (at least that has the lovely galactomyces)
i really trust you. thank you for this channel! don't know why i'm watching this particular video because i don't use essence and i don't plan on using it soon lol but who knows, maybe in the future
I think it;s something you should think about adding into your routine in the future. really adds hydration, helps other products absorb better as well. 😀😃
Essences help with so many things, anti-aging (like you mentioned), hydration, brightness, acne, and on top of all that essences really help other products absorb better so they can be more effective.
The first time I bought an essence (on my daughter’s recommendation) I thought this stuff is like water, it isn’t going to do anything for my skin. I was so wrong! The thinner consistency allows the product to sink into the skin quick. Most of the active molecules (the stuff that is good for skin) are small and can penetrate deep into the skin. An essence will make your skin very soft and moist. They balance your skin and repair the skin barrier. There are all kinds of essences for any skin issue. You just have to remember, you will still need an occlusive moisturizer to lock all the essences’ goodies into the skin.
I didnt know they did all that I just bought the Cosrx snail mucin essence But do you think the Cosrx Galactomyces one would work better for fading acne scars/hyperpigmentation?
@@britnysnyder4991 Yes...it contains niacinamide along with the ferment to brighten. I would also recommend looking for products with Arbutin, Licorice Root, and Vitamin C. An affordable Korean brand with really good products is Cos de Baha. Or you could check out The Ordinary, they have good products, too at super cheap prices.
@@galeann8852 oh yes i love the Ordinary I have many products from them lol Ive used their Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin and a few different acids They did help alot with the scarring
Lately I've been purchasing it from Jolse.com but their shipping can be rather slow. It is also worth checking out Yesstyle.com and wishtrend, com to compare prices. These sites are various sales throughout the year on Cosrx. If you are looking to pick up mutliple cosrx products I've had good luck with Wishtrend. www.wishtrend.com/brand/#cosrx
