Today we go on a quest to find out which lobster comes out on top... a maine lobster or spiny lobster?

Easily one of my favorite videos from this channel. This is bucket list type of stuff…to catch a lobster yourself and grill it on the beach. Amazing.

Coming from a Maine Lobsterman, all of our lobster is delicious! However, you didn’t even get the most flavorful one! Fall time shedders are my favorite, the meat yield is much less because they are soft shell, however, the flavor is unmatched. It’s sweeter, and has more umami flavor then the hardshells do. Summertime shedders are delicious too but they are more sweet and a little less umami. Regardless, the shedders are much better in terms of flavor.

The one on the right should be illegal to eat. Also, you should get someone to properly show you how to open an atlantic lobster so you get all the meat out instead of wasting a good chunk of it. Also, idk who teaches people to cook lobster by cutting it open. But a lobster is best cooked fully in its own shell and juices. (Ideally sea water to cook in, instead of salted water)

I’ve never eaten Maine lobster… I’ve caught and eaten a ton of spiny lobstas in my life though and man they are just so good. I rarely pay for them at a restaurant but having the ability to catch them whenever I want is just so awesome

I have watched several of your videos and subscribed. Every video, you have been behind the counter. I assumed this was because you were a torso on a cart, hiding the fact that you were missing both legs. I have a whole different impression of you now. I loved this video. Spoiled as I am by Maine lobster, I haven't met any lobster from anywhere that I didn't like.

I’ve seen the spiny lobsters while diving in the bvi we weren’t ever allowed to catch them cause we weren’t locals but I always wonder how they tasted

When I lived in South Florida, I stayed right by the beach and I used to go free diving for spiny lobsters every weekend during season and grill up tails and drink beers with my friends 😀

As a Floridian I can confirm Maine lobster is better. Because it’s a warm water lobster I feel like the lobsters absorbs more minerals. Spiny lobster has a very metallic taste to it. If I had to pick one Maine all day.

the real difference is the amazing claws you only get on actual lobster, not languste/a, crayfish, spiny lobste ror what ever you call them. tail meat ain't bad but the claws are truly what's amazing and gives you the type of "mouthgasm" you only get from lobster

Just this summer I was in key west for the spiny lobster mini season with my family and relatives. We were manually snareing them and cousin wasn’t able to get his snare to work so he just grabbed them with his hand and by the end of day two I was damn tired of see the little guys faces. And the restaurant we went too overcooked the lobster. But I did catch a 45lbs wahoo, which is one of the coolest things I think I’ve done. Absolutely love key west and the video.

I have lived in Key west for 32 years. Florida Spiney lobster 🦞 does not even compare to Maine lobster.., not even close ! For flavor and texture, Maine lobster wins.., now.., Key west “pinks” 🍤 are the BEST shrimp in the world.., not gulf shrimp, but Key west “pinks.” We celebrate life in Key west with Key west pinks as often as we can !
