Battle of Waterloo - Napoleon has return from exile, and prepared his armies for war. Nations that opposed him formed the Seventh Coalition and began to mobilize their armies. Out of fear of France being invaded, Napoleon decided to strike before the Seventh Coalition could unite for a coordinated attack. The fate of Europe will be settled here at Waterloo in modern day Belgium. Enjoy this battle of Napoleon Total war :D

he just became crazy after Russian campaign. In 1812 retreat he was exemplary. He covered french army with his men and see all of his soldiers being frozen and dying. We can excuse him for Waterloo. Despite he is a ginger, I believe that he has a soul

Yeah, Napoleon himself dubbed Ney "The Bravest of the Braves" for Ney's ability to break his army out of a completely hopeless battle, heavily outnumbered, while fighting alongside his men.

Thanks for the film recommendation! Napoleon escaped after the battle of Waterloo, but was caught later and sent to St Helena. I think he died a couple of years later.

It is so refreshing to see some good old NTW gameplay. Best game ever made, classes above the "spirit leech", "fate of bjuna" and all the other TWW horse crap. Immagine if one day we could have a Napoleon 2, with tens of thousands of troops, huge maps and stunning graphics.

It was interesting to see the French win loosely following Napoleon's battle plan. Every time I played Waterloo trying to follow Napoleon's plan I lost badly. In the end the only way I could win was to throw Napoleon's strategy out the window and heavily attack the enemy's left thus outflanking and then steamrolling right across their lines to their far right. I never attempted to capture any of the buildings that were part of the original plan. So thankyou, I thought perhaps it wasn't possible to win Waterloo in this game using the emperor's strategy.

Important battle? Well, it did mean the last nail in the coffin for Napoleon. Even if he would have won, his army would have been too battered to face both the Austrians and the Russians. Not to talk of his lack of navy. No, the real battle was Leipzig in 1813 after his defeat in Russia and then later in the Peninsular war. Sorry, the aspiring historian got the better of me.

It definitely would have been a big deal if he had won. He wouldn't have been able to successfully invade Austria or Russia with that army, but saying he was fucked regardless is not true.

Well, if he had given Wellington and Blücher a good trashing, he might just have scrambled a peace treaty. But at this time his enemies had learned the importance of a people's army. He would have been swarmed in the end, especially by the Russians with the Zar with deep hatred of Napoleon.

He was fucked. The Allies, at the outset, had 850,000 men. The French had 250,000 men, with no possibility of allies outside of maybe a liberated Belgium. Spain certainly wasn't going to ally with France after their betrayal. The French populace was also war-weary and decades of warfare in Europe had left its economy in tatters, so a long-term war could not be sustained. Napoleon might have been able to drag the Hundred Days out for a bit longer, but there was no way he'd cling on forever. He was getting old and plagued with illnesses, and his enemies were rife and had sworn to bring him down.

I don't think he will fight the Austrians and the Russian after the battle in Waterloo. When he returned to Paris from being exiled, he wanted to propose a Peace Treaty with the Coalition but instead, they denied it and declared war on Napoleon himself, not France. So he planned on having a fight with the British and the Prussian forces that way his peace treaty will be accepted and become the Emperor of France again.

Incidentally Napoleon took ill with piles in the afternoon of the battle and took a rest which is when Marshall Ney committed the cavalry much to the Emperors regret, that's when the British formed squares and held.

Wellesley, the Duke Of Wellington against Napoleon, the Emperor of France. The Battle Of Waterloo was possibly my favorite battle in the Napoleonic wars, right up there with Austerlitz.

I agree, that battle is really made to be historically accurate. I think he just did vanilla because thats the battles that he normally commentates are. Plus he was doing it on stream with viewers, so it would could have complicated it, and dragged it out since he played it multiple times with new people.It is an unfortunate missed opportunity though

I feel like fighting with more people in your side really helps because you have people taking care of a specific area and specific units of soldiers, you have to make sure to follow your comrades orders and do your best in order to win the battle, they did an excellent job in working together and if napoleon could see this video I know he would have been very proud of this players way if fighting, just like napoleon they fought very bravely for france, viva la France !!!! viva napoleon emperor of France!!!

They made a fantastic movie of the battle back in the 70s, you can buy a DVD of it online, no digital versions. Called 'Waterloo', the Kremlin lent the director an entire Red Army division.

I played Wellington in his first battle he mentions in the video! It was a fun fight, I was worried when I saw I was directly opposite Apollo's forces. Luckily me and the guy to the left of my position held on long enough for Prussia to clean up the field, in the end my only unit left on the field was Wellington and his guard :p

I know Pixie doesn't do alternate history, but since you did the battle of Waterloo, why not? My scenario is that the part of the French army that was sent to destroy the Prussian army was able to cripple but not destroy causing Blucher to have to retreat the Prussians out of Belgium . That means instead of the Prussian showing up, it's Napoleon's reinforcements. The British are slaughtered, with a small force of 5 infantry regiments, 3 hussars, and 2 horse artillery batteries left. Under Wellington they leave Belgium to the French. They retreat to Westphalia, where it as well as Hannover and Wurttemberg have rejoined Napoleon, giving Napoleon 4 infantry and 3 horse regiments. They meet up with the Prussian who only have 3 infantry, 2 horse, and a rocket regiment left. They are reinforce with KGL, 3 line and 2 light, with 2 howitzers regiments. They wait to meet the French on a fortified hill, with news the Russians are on their way.

You loose your casaulties only when you loose the battle. If you win you must clean the battlefield of your and the enemy's casaulties.

The Prussian player should have had a delay before he could participate on the battlefield as, irl, the Prussians only arrived with the ultimate blow at the late stage of the battle following many hours of French forces trying to break through the British position.

+Pixelated Apollo Not sure if you are going to do more but I think it would be cool if you did another "life of a soldier" sometime. It really lets you appreciate all the little things that you don't get to experience while you're flying around commanding units. Like with the canonball officer, normally in a battle you wont see that. Just a suggestion though! Love how you aren't 100% warhammer as well, find that game super boring and if you try to suggest more variety in someones videos....Prince of macedon..... you get freaked at in the comments by the youtuber and saying that they don't have to listen to me and they play what they want.... (totally isn't a true story or anything)

Historians have "conveniently" distorted and concealed the reality of the Battle of Waterloo, erasing Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher from memory.

@PixelatedApollo when you said at 7:58 that the balance of power is glitched on historical waterloo, i think you're quite wrong there. Out of experience i can tell you that when you play battles where artillery is allowed, you will find out that the Alliance with the most artillery left will get a serious boost on the power-bar. If i'm not wrong, i do believe that the French have a little more artillery on Waterloo than the opposition, thus boosting the power-balance. I think that the power-bar is very sensitive when it comes to artillery and totally disturbs the real power-balance in the game and is thus very unreliable in certain game-modes.

alright, I watched the 100th anniversary of waterloo that Heir of Carthage and the one warrior of Sparta did too that was really cool. I wonder if this battle will be canon or not....I guess Ill find out soon enough
