The Spider rushing in for the Queen is something a real Wolf Spider would do. It makes sense that it wants to go for the heart of the colony. It also means you do have to play defensively at night, when you know you are most vulnerable.

I like how there's a National Geographic-esque narrator telling us about what's happening in your gameplay. Pretty nice touch of the game

I’ve watched this series non stop for the last two months on repeat... can’t tell if I’m just addicted and it’s a bad thing or if it’s just because I genuinely enjoy watching Beaver’s gameplay/commentary.

Don't know if anyone still looks at these comments but the devs said that the dead queen at the beginning is a bit of an easter egg regarding the wood ants tendency for a queen to sneak into a foreign colony and usurp the former queen so the implication is that we came in there, killed the enemy queen, and now occupy the nest

Hey Beaver, if you build a hexagonal chamber that's 3 tiles long on each side and is walled off on all sides except for a singular tile (that only touches 1 tile of the chamber) for an entryway, you can upgrade all of the tiles in that chamber to maximum. The chamber could be as large as you want, but it has to be hexagonal and cannot have less than 3 tiles on any one side. I have found that this works great for food storage areas; with the ants themselves, it sometimes is better to focus on sheer numbers to overwhelm than to focus on the upgrades. Also, some of my strategy tips that have worked for me: only allow 1 or 2 roads that lead directly to the queen, so you have some choke-hold points. Place chambers for the soldiers to hatch from branching into the main road from the sides, making them as close to the queen as possible- this will allow the soldiers to swarm in to guard her right as they hatch. You could also link the soldier's chamber directly to the queen's chamber. You should also put some soldier chambers near the entrance to guard it in the same way as with the queen. Finally, reserve 2 pheremone markers to always guard the entrance and the queen respectively, with gathering disabled on those 2 groups; if sh*t starts to hit the fan, drag your ants into those 2 markers to focus all your forces on guarding the entrance and the queen, or only the queen if the raiders have gotten too far in.

James, you could have done it if you just placed the ants in between the entrance and the queen or around the queen for that matter. But you placed them where the fighter ants gets hatched, which made them have to kill the small spiders before killing the mother because the small ones aggroed your fighter ants before they could attack the mother. But if you placed them between the exit and your queen, the spider mother would have aggroed your fighter ants and therefore you would have killed her. Like this so James will be able to see this, because I wrote this so he could see what he did wrong and help him. But everyone can make mistakes, still love ya James!

I am actually an ant keeper irl. This game is pretty acurate but has some things it needs to research. The liquid coming from the ants abdomen is called formic acid. Also ants don't have royal jelly. I do understand it is just a game. Very cool video, please keep them coming.

There was a dead black ant queen next to the wood ant queen, because wood ants infiltrate the nests of black ants and kill their original queen. After replicating the original queen's scent the black ant workers believe that she is and always has been their queen. I actually have replicated this in captivity, but I just didn't start filming ants at that point so yeah I can't show it.
