Fluconazole.. end of story. Good luck!

How did you dose it Mike and was it a single treatment that did it
@MikeLemming
@MikeLemming Год назад
@@TheBioReef yes just one dose. There’s a few different products now like reef flux but, I had the best results from a company online. 1 capsule per 10 gallons. Pull carbon, turn off the skimmer and wait. Around a week, the algae turned translucent and then was gone around day 10 if I remember correctly. Then I did a water change and mov ed on with my life. I didn’t even bother to pull the cheato and it wasn’t effected. I did a video a few years back on it. It’s not the best video but, it gives you a good idea of how I did it. Literally nothing was effected accept for the unwanted algae. I thoroughly recommend! Let me know if you have any questions if you decide to do it. And keep us updated! Good luck buddy!

I had turf algae(very firm and bristly though) and then I got an urchin and emerald crab, that took care of the problem very quickly

I also got a urchins and 3 emerald crabs but they didn’t do much for my problem

I had the same issue following my dinoflagellate issue. I went with one dose of fluconazole, wait a week and one dose of Vibrant (yes I know about the vibrant issues). And it worked for me. Completely clean rocks.

I love your aqua scape and sps! I love SPS! My tank is mainly all sps on the top and middle, but some choice rare nice lps on bottom, like rare zoa section, acans, chalices, 1 NY knicks euphyllia, and scollies eventually.

How's your cleanup crew population? I'm also battling turf algae right now and I plan to add a lot of trochus, 1 snail every 2 gallons and hope this will help the coralline algae to cover the whole rock.

I boosted it initially but other than a few crabs picking on the turf algae, the cuc largely ignores the turf algae

@@TheBioReef ,use a small team of emerald crabs, they will eat anything once they get hungry enough. They can then turn to the acros themselves, but if you have a hawk fish, he will get them one by one, plus at night I just plucked them right out. I also tried pitho crabs too once my hawk got through the emerald and they too just clean any microalgae including bubble right up, they have bigger bodies so the hawk was not able to eat them. Yes, microbacter clean does nothing, dose that for 6 months to prevent any algae, did nothing.

Razor worked great for hair algae for me. But wouldn’t think it would help with turf algae. You could get some fuzzy Chitons to eat it?

Try putting the hydrogen peroxide on a toothbrush and scrubbing it. Really get in there with it. That has worked for me in the past. Too be honest even the algae in ur tank looks good lol.

This definitely works, you’ll find much better success than just spraying it on. It gets worked much farther into the “turf”. A simple Marineland power filter running for the next few days also keeps the tank much cleaner, but totally optional. Glad to see you back Amro! My favourite 416/905 stickhead RU-vidr ❤ (you are all fantastic)

You already have two tangs but perhaps a bristle tooth tang would help. I really like the combination of a Blue Lipped Tang and a Starry Blenny. Another option is to rent/borrow a sea heir. They are the word's most incredible grazers. Peroxide is fine but your are really upsetting the bacterial balance of your aquarium by doing that. green algae is good. Much better than Cyano or Dinos. How old is your tank? Sorry, new sub here. If it is less than a year old relax, get a bristle tooth tang and add some rubble/sand/anything from an older and more established tank. It will all come together eventually. My oldest reef turned 21 this march. I started my newest reef this April 20th. I added one cup of a deep sample of the sand from my old tank, one cup of a shallow sample of sand, a bunch of rubble and a bag of bio media from my sump. The new tank just started to grow green algae this week. I celebrated! Cheers, Chris

Thanks Chris. I do have a tomini tang in there as well, just camera shy. They all universally ignore the turf algae.

@@TheBioReef As others have said, fluconazole is an idea. Borrowing a sea hair is also something to think about. They starve once they are done though.

I recently had a bad case of turf algae and flux rx did the trick for me, though it's come back about 6 weeks after. I think it killed about 99% of it but I just dosed another round of flux rx and expect it to clear up the algae again.
