I legit put down my controller, wiped my eyes and helplessly stared into space for a few minutes. Jesus Christ, to not only lose your brother but your twin, you other half? Just...ugh.
true, some of the younger soldiers (18-20) in WW1 thats survived would probably be killed in WW2. Just because of how more deadly WW2 was compared to WW1, smarter technology and way more strategizing.
Miguel Alberto Japan had 5 million mobilised troops on it's main territory. They were nowhere near to surrendering, also it would have been like going against their culture, which was all about honor.
I never ear they used flamehtrowers or smg, they was melee specialist with armor with strategies based on stealth and surprise (specially night assault), and more they was specialised in making prisonners (they was higly rewarded in money for making prisonners or taking weapons from enemies). You are not mobile, stealthy and you can't make prisonners with a flamethrowers. Maybe they have some pistols, but not more. Because they traded the weight of firearms for an armor.
Even though its is fiction but this guy engaged an entire air force squadron by himself really speaks volumes about his courage and the mentality of an Arditi soldier.
@@welkingunther5417 The reason they say it's fiction is because they never look hard enough to read about history and some of the figures in there have done something so crazy and impossible that the common folks usually think it's lies and exaggeration. This speaks that us humans are really prone to denied the thing that happened in real life as turned into myths instead facts.
"Buono compleanno, Matteo." Seriously one of the most powerful moments in gaming history. You finally realize why he's thinking about this today, of all days.
Nah, The Assassin was eating lunch. Another assassin had tried to take out Ferdinand but failed. Princip figured the whole mission was a bust and went off to get something to eat. Then he looked up and saw Ferdinand's car several feet away from him.
Something I find really cool about the Arditi, is how they were Italian, and basically steel-clad knights in a war caught between the old world and the new. What's more, Italy was known, literally for centuries, for making some of the finest suits of armor throughout the Middle Ages and Renaissance eras.
for anyone saying that the armor wouldnt protect them well no shit but you got to remember one thing he is telling a story to his daughter so he might have changed it a bit. kind of like friends in high places. all of the campaign are titled war stories there stories told later on which means the story changed a bit
well foster knows he went to the fort and to send the flare when. and bishop told him to send the flare when he was safe which he did but the fort was destroyed immidently after
Gmansniper I've been to museums where they've shown the armor a lot of it was a sign of Honor like a true warrior for the Italian people it was a very motivating thing to see these men take rounds and continue fighting now they didn't take rounds the way this game made it seemed it was primarily a defensive armor machine gunners are snipers that would expose their heads or forward artillery advisors sure this game over did it with the drama butt Italian soldiers back then had this code of honor between fellow soldiers and seeing a man take bullets like that and shrapnel damage and still get up and fired his weapon motivated all the men behind him to do the same so I guess the game went with that glorified courage
The arditi never actually wore that armor. The same as they never carried that machine gun around. I watched a series who rated this game and said it is really realistic exsept 2 things, the anti tank gun took 2 men to operate not 1. And the arditi never wore that armor.
Oddly enough Italian soldiers did occasionally wear armor which looked just like that...but it was actually to protect against falling rocks in the Dolomites and alps
@@SkellyofSkellingtonProbably more like big rocks, definitely mot boulders but rocks that austrians would thrown down upon them. I’m assuming the armor would be so your chest or head wouldn’t be caved in by said thrown rock
Barack Obama Politics is always more complex than you think and behind every war there is only one thing: money. In this case the war was started to conquer the region of Trentino Alto Adige (where Dolomites are) and defeat the Austro-Ungarian Empire once and for all, which was a plague to my country for a long time (in Northen Italy). But the reason is always the same, conquer territories = more money for the state. Same for our African colonies = more money. War is all about getting more money and common people suffer.
@@whitegradient5182 the judgment of a drunkard like Churchill matters little, at least Italy won the First World War, in the second it was bad because of incompetent and too bureaucratized officers the value of men at the front is out of the question, El Alamein is an example
As an American, the only thing I knew about WW1 was. U boat sunk a passenger ship carrying a number of Americans. Germany tried to get Mexico to declare war on us. We declared war on Germany. The UK, French and USA beat Germany. War ends. Its sad that a video game piques my interest and causes me to research. Any Italian reading this, those Arditi units were some tough and fearless guys. You should be proud.
I just love how this war story was written. The exaggerated retelling of events with the background of realism, just like how a vet of a war would describe it. The second part after the collapse of the mountain turning the beautiful landscape into hell on Earth, the physical embodiment of the hero’s courage and duty to his country with his shield and sword (or in this case armor and MG08/15) and the general sense of the importance of family, a staple in Italian ideals and culture, and the sacrifice of war. A masterful campaign level in an already astounding game. 15/10
As I've been told thousands of time my great-grandpa and his brothers served in the war he would never see two of his brothers so this war story hits close to home for me
This always reminds me how much I love my brothers. Even though they can get on my nerves at times, I will still fight like hell to make sure they are safe if anything bad were to happen to them.
First time I did this story, I pulled off a Doom Comic. (You know, "guns are for wusses" "man and a half" and then the big gun gag thing). When I saw the ending I shut my mouth.
lets see here he sounds like ezio looks like a guy from that one movie i saw last night has tachankas helmet and a knights chest/shoulder plate and thicc legs *sudden realization followed by a gasp* CHUCK NORRIS
Apparently i may have a great grandfather that was posthumously awarded for stopping an austro-hungarian attack, in the italian army of the great war. Never even knew about it until my dad was talking about it, i should look into it if its really true, seems like he may have been one of those badass machinegunners using a Villar Parosa
