Two details in particular I like: 1: The bomber gunner carefully moving along the airframe as the bomb drops, it's a neat animation, and I love switching seats in Multiplayer for the same reason. 2: The German jumping with them from the zeppelin. Love the little notion of "ah to hell with animosity I need to get out of here!"
The best War Story of the game imo : not just because there's not a lot of field manuals and I'm too lazy for this, but the storytelling, the characters and that twist at the end where you just don't know if you've been playing as a jackass gone good or if you've been "a cheat, a thief and a liar" all along + that 4th wall break killed me
Thomas Regnart I personally found this had the best music in the campaign! That’s what I liked about this story! And also the fact of flying an aircraft!
I’m such an idiot I’ve played this campaign twice and watched it countless times but never realized the possibility he may have been lying at the end of it.
I was just stunned at how great of a time it was (even though the airship took me 4 tries because I kept crashing into it) that at the end when he broke the forth wall I was like "Hey wait you can't do that"
"Before I got to Europe, I've never seen an aeroplane in real life. High and above, they twisted and turned, like flocks of birds dancing! There was a romance around the pilots. These new swashbucklers of the skies. But the reality was, most these brave young men would eventually end up back on the ground in twisted smoke and wrecks..." Best intro words ever!
Ok so here's what I can imagine is the true story. -he did end up killing Wilson -it only makes sense why he was arrested the way he was, they knew he killed Wilson along with stealing rackham's plane. -he freed himself among the chaos and swam to the end of the river -he never even got on the plane at the end cause from the time he jumped from the zeplin and climbed up from the river he randomly lost his gloves.
Can we get a spin-off DLC of handsome German gas mask guy trying to crawl his way through London to get back to his home battalion? I'd love to see that, honestly.
They couldn't the Air raid never happened. Think about it he said he wouldn't tell us if his whole entire story was fake. He probably killed Wilson and no man's land. Then on the boat jumped off and slammed freedom. Also how could you survive that fall off the Behemoth in the water will be like concrete from that distance
If you look at the scene where Blackburn pulls himself up, you can a playing card. That card was one of the ones he had when he lost to Rackham earlier. He actually did do all of that, and did not kill Wilson or else it would be impossible for him to have the card.

Lance San Pedro Actually, he didn't kill his buddies. You forgot to add some factors. WW1 Blackburn witnesses the Germans kill his buddies before he decides he wants to die in the skies. His buddy joins him as well. BF3 Blackburn didn't kill his buddies. In fact, his CO ordered him and his unit to deliberately cause World War Three just to get the target before the Russians do. An entire combat group was wiped out because Captain Cole, the "Gloryhound", wanted to be the guy to capture an arms dealer. At this cost, Blackburn was salty because two of his pals were killed at the last legs of the mission. The only reason why BF3 Blackburn killed his captain was to let a Russian go to Paris while he went to New York so they could save millions. There is a big difference when you state a character kills his squad or something else killed them.
The only thing I wonder is where did the other guy learn his name. I can understand figuring out that he's not the right man, but where would he find out Blackburn's real name. Ah well!
Hold up. When He took tuose photos at a moving speed of 80-90 mph and took clear photos with that vintage camera. While I can't take a decent steady photo on my Shitty Iphone without it becoming blurry if I even move. Also my dude who got hit with tire got rekt.
The reason why he could do that is because older cameras don’t have what modern cameras call “Rolling Shutter”. Basically your digital camera scans line by line while old cameras take the whole image at once.
It's driving me nuts. I loved the story the whole way through, and I want the version you played to be real. I think the alternate story he tells is the truth. Nobody could jump off a blimp that high into water and live. He broke loose, jumped off the boat and that's why we see him pulling himself to shore. As for how he got uncuffed one of the planes bullets probably hit the cuff.Also you can see the clock is the closest spot to shore from the boat, and thats where he pulls himself up

Best campaign in my opinion. Might be because I enjoyed air combat the most, but also because of the characters and story. Clyde's fun attitude paired with Wilson's "British humor" was so fun, with their personalities contrasting in an entertaining way. Friends in High Places also had the most character depth and the best relationship development, with the duo's friendship evolving at a reasonable pace (unlike that of Bishop and Foster's, for instance). This is partly due to Clyde and Wilson being pretty realistic characters. I don't think it's meant to be a "mindfuck story", I think it's supposed to be a story that is lighthearted in comparison to the game's other campaigns. I think it's safe to say that in reality, Clyde jumped into the Thames as soon as the air strike hit, taking the opportunity to escape Rackham or whatever his name was. He came up with a heroic, comically unrealistic story not only for himself, but his friend Wilson as well, who probably died when the strike hit. I mean, running on zeppelins, Wilson fistfighting a German in the air, all 3 of them jumping off the airship and Clyde surviving? Clyde obviously came up with the last part, but what we should take away from this story is that the war changed him for the better, altough it couldn't take all the Clyde out of Clyde. He stayed true to his word and saved Wilson, because he didn't think him a "jackass" like Rackham. In the end, though, he still came up with a little tale, staying true to himself. The fact that he included Wilson, in my opinion, shows that he considered him a true friend. Edit: It's also pretty sure that Wilson did uncuff him during the air strike. When Clyde climbs ashore, a single two of hearts card lands next to him. Probably means something. (This got longer than I intended.)

i found out the truth the story that we played was the lie if you notice when blackburn pulls himself out of the water he isnt wearing his pilot gloves which means he never got on the plane and brought down the zeplien
This and The Runner felt like the most complete war stories. Avanti Savoia is a close 3rd in terms of the message at the end, but the other two felt like actual stories with character arcs.

Wilson died when the plane crahsed and the whole ending that you played was a lie. When the air assault came Blackburn was able to escape and swam to shore
What i love about this War Story the fact that all the unbelievable BS you do in this entire mission gets explained. All the video gamey elements got recontextualized by him making the entire story up. There's a ton of times he should've died but he didn't. Unless he was lying the entire time.

That, can't be right, going by what i've learned parachutes were very rarely, if not at all used by pilots.... Unless they were used towards the very end of 'The Great War'?

In fact, the head of the US Army Air Service, Billy Mitchell, had outright paratrooper deployments planned for February 1919 as part of the Entente's 1919 offensives. The Italians were already using paratroopers in a way, though essentially just for recon by inserting scouts behind enemy lines.
Mans was on the ground for a minute, just getting rocked, and just getting his shit pushed back.. and just _instantly_ jumps back up, and readies himself to jump off a zeppelin, with his new found friends. Wild.
Jalen Sullivan Actually I'm pretty sure it's not definite which "story" is true. The whole point is he is a liar and a cheat, so he could have lied about this. But some things are just too crazy to simply be made up, wouldn't you say?
I'm pretty sure its heavy implied that the lie was the real one. When he comes out of the water, it's the same model he used before he was on the airship, the story on the airship is when he's wearing the pilot uniform, and no one can survive a jump that high, you'd die hitting the water.
I like to believe that what happened was everything up to the airship part was true. After Rackam died Wilson uncuffed him and the both swam to shore and waited out the raid in a bunker of some kind.
Kind of funny how even after all these years, people remember this campaign, arguably the shortest, and most linear. Even to this day, people argue over the actual story, because while the gameplay was linear, the story itself was not, the player always questioning what the real story was.
