How to unlock Hellriegel Defensive:
Hellriegel 1915 'Defensive' Variant has a bipod, optical sights and an extended 120 round magazine, it can be unlocked after reaching assault rank 10, and by taking down 300 people with the Hellriegel factory, and 25 with anti-tank mines. Based on the stats of the factory Huot, I'd argue the play style of the Huot suits the new version more. The Huot's slow TTK beyond 38m makes it sort of terrible for getting any kills at range, even with its accuracy with a bipod, as targets just run behind cover and often, due to its smaller mag you'll run short before killing them which isn't a problem with the Lewis Gun variants. I haven't gotten the new one yet, but often I find myself using the factory Huot for head shots in CQC indoors, which would benefit more from the mobility of a Optical variant.

I have it, take the near nonexistent recoil of the low weight huopt and then apply 3 times the recoil, even at minimum zoom. Its bad, Lewis optical is a straight upgrade.

the BAR is only good at close range unless you very carefully burst fire. it's just as bouncy. where the BAR excels, the helreigel excels more, and has more capacity, and a faster rof

rubberwoody what the fuck are you on? The bar is a 6 shot kill at range, the hellriegel is 8, the bar has 800 m/s velocity, the hellriegel has 380. On top of that the hellreigel has shit accuracy and doesn't have the same accuracy mechanic as lmgs. The BAR is insane at range have you ever even tried it? It has bullet velocity on par with a sniper rifle's and while bipodded it's basically the most accurate gun in the game. And on top of that it's damage only drops off to 19 whereas the hellriegel drops off to 13. The bar excels at all ranges but the hellriegel will get outgunned by most weapons outside of 25m

put down the bipod and youll outgun a BAR at 40m most poeple who use the BAR use the storm variant, as if they wanted to go medium-long range they would use something like the benet or madsen. the BAR's capacity and accuracy hurt it so many use it for the close range support option, where you will be up against things like this, that shoot faster, hold more ammo, and have a bipod. when you have 120 rounds hitting 8 isnt a problem

Did you know that the Hellriegel 1915 Factory is technically a storm variant? That's why it has less recoil; so technically they didn't increase the recoil of the Defensive variant, but instead gave it its actually recoil pattern.

Meowershower Standlee How is it shit? It's a high DPS submachine gun with a 120 round magazine and another one to spare and it's equipped with a bipod. It has no downsides. The only weakness it has is the higher recoil but it doesn't matter when the gun comes with a bipod. So the gun is deadly at close, medium AND longer ranges. How could it be shit?

Perfect review! This really helped. The AT Mine kills are sometimes easy when you place the mines in ditches where old ones blew up, the tank falls into ditches every time. You can also place multiple mines on top of each other which may look like one but actually three.

So basically, its just as good in CQ with a higher mag size and optical sight. At medium range, you will need to bipod with the increased recoil, whereas the factory (even after the nerf) you can just ADS. It will work for aggressive CQ combat, but will lose to the Automatico and Shotguns with a 1 shot kill. In medium range, its good with the bipod, but an LMG can suppress you and the scouts can head shot since SMGs don't suppress (I don't think so anyway) and you are stationary.

This video might be old but i set up the anti tank mines on Rupture on that trail where tanks usually go, i got about 4 destroyed vehicles in a round, it was easy tbh. Every vehicle that passed was destroyed, i didn't believe it myself.

FeelTheBirdie I just spawn killed the tanks by placing my 3 mines immediately on the road where tanks spawn. Guaranteed to kill any tank that spawns there. A tryhard tactic, to he sure, but I usually use them as a surprise tactic, putting them behind a camping tank, and then running to the front. When they back up to shoot me, the scary assualt player, they back into their own death.

The easiest way I found of farming AT-mine kills was playing defender on Rush. People always leave so it's easy to get on defender, and the lines that tanks and light vehicles travel is narrow. Even after they push you back the mines stay behind for a nasty surprise.

Here's a tip from someone who went through the trouble of getting it, place the AT mines in their spawn. You'll only get one kill, but you can do it several times a match. When you place the mines, put two on the edges of the road, and one in the middle so they all explode.

I've unlocked all the new variants of the lvl 10 weapons a couple days ago and I must say that the hellriegel defensive and the 1906 sniper are well worth the grind. One is best used to defend a capping flag while the other is an ultra stable high rpm dmr that wrecks up close and at mid-long range. However, the huot optical and martini sniper are a pain to use.

Find a road, make some rubble, plant mines within the rubble. Stagger your mines in v pattern :÷. Plant mines on ridges before enemy can identify them while coming over the hill.

They really should've made all the other new level 10 variants better than they are currently. The Huot and the level 10 medic gun should've received larger magazines. Unfortunately, this gun is going to be most players primary weapon because it doesn't have any significant weaknesses.

Masterm1nd23 it does have a significant weakness the recoil is crazy if you want to control it you have to stand still, which make you an easy target for medics and snipers also the high recoil and and the low bullet velocity are so bad that you it forces you to get close and personal to the enemy so you can get the kill and survive.

Had a guy in my game yesterday saying the Defensive had "excellent hipfire" and "good damage over range", citing your video for these statements. Unfortunately, it's just not true. The gun is basically unusable at range without its bipod and generally performs worse than the base Hellriegel. MP 18 Trench is a better killing machine in most engagements because it can actually hit shots without a massive amount of horizontal recoil.

For anybody struggling to get the mine kills: equip smoke grenades and join a hardcore server. there's no 3rd-person view in vehicles on hardcore mode, so you can get right up behind a tank if they're camping. Put 2 or 3 mines behind the tank and lob an AT grenade in front of the tank so they back up into your mines. If they're moving, throw your smoke grenades and try to put the mines right in front of them. I was really putting this requirement off but it finally clicked and I got 15 mine kills in a couple hours.

The best way to get the mine kills is to run to the enemy spawn and place it in front of the cars I did this in Amiens and it worked super well and the car respawns almost instantly

If you need easy mine kills, take the capture point nearest to the enemy base and place mines on the road, then when a vehicle heads towards them, toss a smoke grenade onto the mines, that's how I do it, works most of the time without a problem.

Pro tip for getting anti tank kills go to thier spawn and place them there so when the vechiles come they wont it expect it and BOOM (kills) i know its really greasy but it works i got the defensive in 3 days doing that

I found a certain way to do the AT Mines which might help some people... Maps... Either Amiens (as German side) Fao Fortress either side works. (these 2 just worked best for me) For Amiens anyone with a brain cell is going to pick a tank at F through the match...Simply throw them down next to where they spawn...they make a move they blow up. repeat that as well as that on amiens any craters throw 3 AT mines in them. you never know there are a lot of oblivious drivers who will just not even look. As for Fao Fortress if your the brits plant them on the run upto G as most tank and car drivers wont look. If your the ottomans plant them inbetween A and B as horses will even trigger them... Like i said this worked for me...

why didn't they just add the storm variant from the single player campaign? this is ridiculous. same thing with the Huot optical... i get it, but the low weight variant is far superior to the optical for the weapon that it is. a better variant would have been something like a telescopic variant. A suppressive variant would be okay, but the Lewis Gun already has that, and has a bigger mag to begin with, so that would not be the way to go.

I have unlocked this gun. One thing i can say about it: its worse than factory variant. Recoil is just too high even when bipoded and its pretty inaccurate when compared to factory variant.

Christian Payne they need to add guns like this because if the game was completely realistic, everyone would just have an SMLE, M1903, G.98 or the occasional MP-18. The game would be boring as fuck

Not really. Battlefield 1 is a unique and different take on the First World War. Instead of everyone being given only bolt action rifles. DICE added Weapons that were in the first world war but no one knew about they're existence. And that is what I love about the game. It's not the same WW1 game as Verdun but it's something different and unique while still being set during the First World War. If it was purely based on the First World War and none of this stuff was in the game. Then we would have like 8 weapons. One for each Faction. People would bitch about content even more. Realism > Gameplay

Guys, I can't believe you all have overlooked car bombs for the AT mines. Put the at mines on a destructable barrel or box, drive a motorcycle through it, and the mines are now on the motorcycle! Now all you have to do is run into a tank and jump out right before impact. Wala.
