Seeing old weapons with 2042's futuristic HUD is weird Edit: to all the idiots down in the comments I'm not hating on the game, I'm just pointing out something I though was slightly off-putting, it's like hating on someone because they though a couch being neon pink is kinda wierd when it's usually brown
In my opinion, there will never be satisfied people, they always want to look for the bad in a game, even for the smallest thing or smallest defect they are already screaming to the sky, even reloads and / or etc., for my part I play both sagas,CoD and Battlefield, And I don't care about, the truth, because they both have a purpose, that people enjoy it.
the people who hate on cod are just bf fanboys who are always negative about games without playing them, or they are trash at the game that they hate on, and they think its cool to hate on cod
Gun customization in Vanguard feels more like a post-apocalypse guns or steampunk guns which not really realistic, but guns animation is very satisfying.
But quite imprecise at the time, since there were no tactical recharges and also several accessories (grips, optical sights in smg for example), basically a MW but ww2
I do agreed, Vanguard just gone too far because they afraid that it will not be just like MW2019 and CW which have a lot of customization, but it's turned out that they just ruined WW2 into this....I wouldn't mind if this guns customization system is based on post-apocalypse theme instead "Historical Accurate" WW2.
@@krengreyhart4086 Most of the given attachments in Vanguard can be used to recreate other weapon models in the past. For the Thompson SMG in Vanguard, you can rebuild it into the Chicago Typewriter (AKA the Gangster Variant)
I think they were trying to pay homage to original bf 1942 animations a bit. Cool idea but I would rather they just made modern looking ones. Even if they just ported the bf5 animations for the ww2 guns I would be happy since those look nice
Vanguard's animations are really good. You gan really get a good sense of recoil from the shaky cam effect act motion blur in the gun. Bf's are way too smooth and almost looks like firing a blank. But the sound department really goes for Bf
I think both games are good in they're own ways, but in terms of gameplay, I preffer BFPortal, since you don't loose tactical advantage, with generic WWII guns, without any whacky attachments, although I find it a bit dissapointing, that BFPortal, didn't re-use assets and sounds from BFV, since they feel pretty solid.
i think ur wrong tbh, vanguard is much more fluent and natural, battlefield is super robotic and looks really unnatural, sounds may be better but animations look horrendous
@@mexlopez9086 trust me don’t get vanguard campaign is like 4 hours long and they really force you to care about the story and characters but because it’s 99% flashbacks the development is so dog shit, zombies is jist god awful and has nothing in it and multiplayer I mean it’s pretty neat but that’s because it plays almost like mw2019 but less camping and it’s extremely unbalanced and doesn’t do anything to improve upon mw2019 nor build anything onto it
@@venommagnus Ugh its there's always people who think game engine is responsible for the animation lmao. Also, what you think about the 1942 weapons animation in Portal tho? Imo compared to BF V its kinda shit.
It's cool to see how they didn't give fancy reload and recoil animations to portals 1942 guns. Kinda makes them feel more authentic to the OG BF1942 experience. One could say they were just lazy in making animations, but I don't think so. The reason I say that is because they could've just ported BFV animations to this game, and that probably would've taken less time (not sure though, I'm no game dev), and not only that, the other portal weapons have great animations, so I find it unlikely that these crude animations were just rushed. Wish I had a good console to play the new Battlefield, I've just been admiring gameplay lately
One of the devs stated they had a year and some months to make the entirety of portal so it's most likely that they worked quickly to provide animations that were just decent, not anything special.
TBH, I think the animations overall in Battlefield 2042 are rushed and unpolished. Most of them are very stiff, robotic and unsatisfying. So I don't personally think they made the 1942's weapons animations look bad on purpose, its just the general quality of every other animations in the game. Kinda disappointing, considering the smooth and satisfying weapon reloads and visual recoil of previous entries and the hype behind this game since the announcement trailer.
Considering that the original Battlefield 1942 was on a completely different game engine (the Refractor 1 engine), porting over anything from 1942 to 2042 would've been a rather arduous task. Indeed, it would've taken them far less time and effort to port assets and animations from BFV into 2042. The fact they didn't do the latter tells me they were aiming for something specific with sticking as close as possible to 1942's assets.
Animations: Vanguard easily. Although BF looked like it had weight on the guns, they look floaty and a bit unnatural. Sounds: BF for the win, Vanguard's gunshots may sound nice but the muffled metallic sounds on the guns kills it for me. Models: I'd say Vanguard. It had more of a "War-torned" Look on it while BF looked like it was brand new. (Not saying its bad or anything) Conclusion: imo, Vanguard wins this one. Before you get salty, no. I'm not a CoD fanboy. In fact i love both franchises. If you disagree with me please respectfully let out your opinion to me, thanks! Also some people said that the animations looked like that because its meant to reflect BF 1942. Not sure if that's true but if it is, then DICE could've refined them a little.
I agree. I think Battlefield's motions move like robots. But considering that time, soldiers' movements can be unnatural. But I felt the gap with the tactical reload and the recoil motion was so unnatural.
I have to admit, vanguard wins this time around, Dice could've re-used assets from BFV. Since these new gun animations, feel like a slowed down version of GTA V's gun animations.
@@Bruhidk8835 Even if they reused it, there will (possibly) be some gamers who complain about it being the same. No gaming community will get what they really wanted. That's how it works.
I passed for Vanguard and went for 2042, but even i admit that vanguard animations are just *chef kiss* but still prefer 2042 for the content they gave us this year. specially Portal
@@lechungusmunch1481 then explain where server browser went, scoreboard, voice chat, no big content till next year, this game is literally surviving off portal
Both games are amazing! This is truly the best competition we've had in awhile, a great game from both companies. The thing that I've started to notice from the past of Cod's fast pace, inferior graphics and animations and Battlefields slow paced, great graphics and animations; is that things are starting to change. Battlefield is getting more fast paced which is great, because it's balanced by bigger maps. But, Call of Duty is very quickly starting to catch up and actually beat Battlefield in terms of animations, sounds, and graphics. Reloads - Cod Animations- Cod Sounds- Battlefield, but the Portal guns are severely lacking. Recoil- Cod Graphics- Battlefield Bf2042 is amazing, but the portal does lack in sound design.
Portal gonna be that one thing people use to compare other games with for like more than 10 years lol. Okay why the hell the animations for 1942 weapons in Portal looked like someone just watching a Vanguard weapons showcase video and then tried to replicate it? The MP-40 and the BAR looked same lmao. And not to mention the BAR reload in Vanguard is not correct.
why is the vanguard animation wrong? the 1942 bar animation is literally doing tac reloads on a bar, and mp40 and bar animations are the same? they look completely different
@@ZedEyeEyeEnOh The vanguard BAR animation has the character pulling the charging handle backward and then forward again, which is incorrect because the BAR is open bolt so only pulling the charging handle backward is enough. Also when i said the 2042 MP40 and BAR looked the same, i meant it looked like the poor man version of its counterpart in Vanguard lol
There’s nothing wrong with the BAR reload. I actually have experience with the weapon and the guy reloads it fine. The operator hits the magazine release inside of the trigger and pulls it out. Sometimes it falls free, sometimes it doesn’t (mainly has to do with the parkerization of the mag). The charging handle is then pulled back to lock the bolt rearward, since it’s an open bolt gun. The process can be reversed and is generally easier and safer to do-as it clearly shows the chamber is empty-but that’s not to say the gun can be reloaded with the bolt dropped. How do I know this? I’ve seen people do both, including myself.
I was kinda dissatisfied with the animation for Battlefield Portal. However considering some of the gun animation are meant to reflect the original Battlefield 1942 game even if they didn’t have animation. I give Battlefield a pass for being creative for it animation even if it’s kinda a disappointment. Even the Battlefield M1 Garand reload is a reference to Bad Company 2 reload so I give Dice the credit.
It has to be like that cause I'd say that every WWII weapon reload from BFV looks better than what we have here. Especially the M1 Garand animations were absolutely flawless in BFV. I would have thought that if they tried to copy and recycle old animations for already used weapons, they would chose the ones from BFV.
@@bigshobe BF3 portal looks literally miles better than the original LOL. Go look at the animations side by side. BF3's animations are literally AI generated
If the animation quality of all the portal guns were on par at least with their source games, then the size of the package would equate to ~4 standalone games. The loading times would be god-awfully long. So if compromises were made to shrink the file to a usable size I'd completely tolerate it
@@Dwaxxx but then you hear their sounds. Vanguard sounds design is horrible. I honestly think MW2019 has the best sound design for a CoD game. While BF4 has the best for an BF game.. bf2042 though has great sound design imo. Minus explosion, that sounds needs work
2042's guns feel powerless when firing, however they have smoother camera shake and nicer sounds. Vanguards guns have weight and power, however some of them have way too much. The reloads in Vanguard have such strong camera shake it feels like your character is trying to fight the gun, and the sounds make it seem like your weapon is about to fall apart as you reload it. I have to respect BFPortal for how good it is despite having been rushed up really quickly. It feels authentic to the old Battlefield games. All of the animations you see in Portal are just taken from AoW, or very quickly rushed up so they could release a "finished" game. I hope as they update Portal, they update it's weapons.
Conservative with tactical reloads i WW2? No field manual I know of teached this type of weapon handling. None go for realism and authenticity but Call of Duty nails the weight and satisfaction of a proper reload animation.
Bruh BF was always a step behind Cod with reload animations and it was clear that Dice and the fans didnt care since BF still has superior graphics and sound design. But then MW 2019 came out where the animation gap became even larger and all of a sudden people started caring about reload animations. Now Dice is trying and failing to emulate an animation style that they clearly dont have the capacity to achieve. It looks even worse than BFV imo.
Someone finally said it. MW made people care more about reload animations than the actual game itself. Look at the newer players who started playing in 2019, who are actively shitting on Vanguard for not being as realistic as MW when COD has never and will never be about realism. They always act like MW was the second coming of Christ or some shit, it's annoying. Sure, it's great that video game companies are finally stepping up their game in terms of animation but I hate how it's like the only thing people care about now. Dice never tried copying COD until this game, which clearly tries its hardest to emulate MW while simultaneously removing what makes BF, BF. Doesn't help that most people only watch the game, not play it.
Both games and models are pretty good, sounds are nice but Vanguard takes the cake for the animations. Wonder why they didn't reuse the reloads from BFV?
In terms of quality vanguard wins easily. Better models, more variations with animations. The animations are more natural, runs smoother and the guns themselves has more kick to them (ironically enough). Though it’s pretty cool to see the guns at all in bf2042 that’s definitely a huge W
Idk why people haven't mentioned it yet but despite being 60 fps, MW and Vanguard reloads having motion blur really helps hide problems in the animations, something BF2042 could use
@@RizzySkibidiAmongusI know that, but what I meanis that its a good thing that theres motion blur because it can hide flaws in the animations and it might be something BF 2042 needs
sledgehammer went from airsoft weapons (WWII) to realistic wapons (Vanguard). and then we have DICE that suffered from the opposite: from realistic weapons (BF1-V-4) to airsoft ones (BF 2042)
@Aveteran Player same escuse for the GTA Trilogy DE "its not a remaster not a remake, thats why it looks like that", let alone tactical reloads but animation overall looks lazy, worse than older titles like BF4, Portal 1942 animations looks like CoD WaW animations but worse as i see most of the qeapons are recoilless, doesnt have that punch like in vanguard
Tbh i dont think so because from my personal experience ive seen minor changes on reloads in games over quite some time but never a complete revamp or overhaul. Sorry mate
I think the animations are both good and nail very well what the user is. On vanguard you play as a highly trained specialist that’s part of an elite task force composed of battle hardened veterans, and the animations are fast and it looks like the character has familiarity with them. In BF (bf1942 soldiers) you are the averaje joe/hans who has probably only basic training on his background and in fact the weapon handling feels clumsier(mp40 and stg especially)
The sound of Vanguard (except for the pistols) it's way better. It sounds strong and hard! Pretty nice. BF sounds like.. idk... like a lasertag shooting range

Can someone explain why most next gen shooters look flat, simplistic, and almost cartoony in comparison to their last gen counterparts? Compare vanguard to advanced warfare/MW, halo infinite to halo 2 anniversary, and battlefield to bf3/bf1
I don't understand why BF2042 WW2 Weapons have low recoil and less sway. They didn't do that with BFV weapons. You have to control the sway and recoil with any weapons on your own. I'm surprised that Vanguard has better animation of aiming, reloading, and recoil. But they do feel like Modern Tactical reloads than like a first-time reload that's one thing I don't like but good job.
The reload animations in bf 2042 portal look are so uncomfortable to watch for me.... but I think it doesn't matter much when u play the game, coz u won't seem to judge the intecracy of the animations as ur too busy playing the objective
@@ItzValtCodm nah tbh, all of the bf 2042 anims are trying too hard to be like modern warfares, even the throwback ones, and the 1942 ones are anachronistic in the way they reload, they do tactical reloads for all guns even the MP40 and the bar, and M1A1
@@icaru.s you know the funny thing, why is it that games decided to do the tac reloads after modern warfare, when killing floor did it before them and no one cared?
The modern warfare engine is just unmatched… it’s insane how perfect it is. Vanguard is just an updated MW 2019 engine for those who don’t know, and it’s still by far the best, battlefield is really good, but it just doesn’t match up. You can feel the recoil with the vanguard guns, like the Kar for example, every shot the gun kicks backwards and to the side, you can see the gun turn and bend a little bit as it kicks against the shoulder, with the battlefield Kar, it doesn’t even move when sighted, just goes upwards…
It's not a matter of engines, it's a matter of animation. Battlefield is using modified libraries of universal reload animations edited to fit the appropriate gun while Vanguard has handcrafted animations for each weapon. The engine has nothing to do with it.
If you look at all of the weapon models and the sights and stuff in 1942, they all reflect that game with how it was back then. I think they wanted to preserve how the game was originally but with just updated graphics
this is the first comment section (on a BF vs CoD video) where everyone is respecting each other opinion also, why DICE uses the same reloading animation for many gun, even the BAR, hell, the reloading animation for the AR, they use it for the SMG aka the Thompson
I know this is weird but the reason I don't like vanguards reloads/guns is because of they have so much unnecessary sound to them when some one touch the gun reloads shifts the gun makes so much noise lol
@@SteelFlesher Nah if it was ex cod then shit will looked mile better than this. Its like they hired tons of beginners, give them a video of MW and VG animation then told them to replicate it lol.
@@thur1 not just that, but the gun in question as well. Example: people complaining about the CoD: WWII M1 Garand reload. Yes, Garand thumb is a real thing, but it’s not prevalent in every model and can lock up due to a number of reasons. I’ve fired multiple different M1s and each have handled differently.
Animation wise, bf2042 is not the best, although I do believe the animations were made to reflect the old reload animations from bf1942 which makes sense considering portal is meant to be like a literal portal back to the old games hence the name. Sound design wise, I much prefer bf over cod here. The guns sound more powerful, echo out in the distance for longer and have more bass to the gunshots
If you want to compare, try comparing it to Battlefield 5 because Vanguard is only good at weapons but other details are not, so here we only compare weapon details, not other details.Compared to Battlefield 5, Vanguard has already lost. Battlefield 2042 isn't improving graphics quality anymore But the fun in the gameplay and also attracts the attention of the fans again like battlefield 4 for example
Reload animations are back and forth for both and so is the sound for me but I feel like Vanguard has way too much recoil and BF has way too little recoil
I definitely think the vanguard guns have a more realistic recoil and look a little nicer but bf42 is probably more playable when you’re talking about combat
As a Battlefield fan I actually prefer the CoD sounds in this video, feels more metallic and present while the BF sounds are more like you hear a gun from 50 meters away being fired in a huge bowl.
If a person new to both game franchises played them for the first time, vanguard would be a very bad experience for them. Especially after playing bf2042. Most likely because how repetitive vanguard gets. Bf2042 has a lot variety. Like portal, you make make or play very different and creative experiences. Hazard zone, which sucks unless you are still into objective based battle royals. All out warfare is not really too much of a difference to portal just that all out warfare is the main mode. Although every game is going to be updated, I think bf2042 still takes the cake. The nostalgia and the possibilities STILL to come bf2042 wins.
What happened to the BF 2042? Battlefield has always had a good sound design, but now it is no worse than the Cod Vanguard! The weapon seems to far fart, not shoot. I'm very disappointed
Because the Thompson bolt locks back on an empty stick magazine. I’ve fired the real thing and it does that. Don’t believe me? I have footage of it too.
@@Capper_Bra to drop the bolt, you have to remove the magazine and pull the trigger. What’s holding the bolt back is the magazine follower. This is why you have to pull the bolt back when loaded with a drum magazine:

@@manonhiatus6261 dude you make very little sense. These are real guns so they should be as to close to the real things as possible. And let me be real, Vanguard's sound design isn't that special. MW2019 did better and Vanguard is supposed to build on such quality, not become a major setback.
i find it really odd that they kept the horrible recoil/bullet spread from the past titles but somehow made it worse... a good example is if you try to spray any of the older guns at somebody 4m away nothing will hit... even burst firing is super inaccurate, look at a wall and spray the gun but control the recoil by pulling down and look at how the bullets go even outside of your scope view
The CoD Killer vs the CoD Killer. Which one will win? The one that was so bad and still is or the one that was meant to be better than any CoD we've ever seen?
The way the launchers snap back to its original placement after firing in BF, the Kar98-K not having any noticeable recoil at all and overall lacking of polishing makes me believe Vanguard won that one.
