Battlefield V has a mortar gadget that not many people know about. It's hard to use, but can be effective with practise. Let's take a look at the secret function of the PIAT and how to use it!
Yes it was, but there's not much left from a mortar REALLY. Spigot mortar works a bit different than a "classic" mortar. And if you propel the grenade using spring tension, then it barely resembles a mortar. And that's what PIAT is. A spring operated spigot mortar. Mortar, but not a very "mortary" mortar.
@@supervillain3213 Well the thing was shoddy at best in real life having ab effective range of 115 yards though more commonly soldiers would have to get within 50 in order to hit. Simple thing is it had a very low velocity compared to a Bazooka/Panzerfaust/Panzerschreck as it relied ona rod forcefully pushing it down the barrel and igniting a cartridge whihc proppeled the HEAT warhead towards the target compared to the rocket in the 3 aforementioned AT weapons. Advantages of this it being quieter, cheaper to replace the barrel and atleast in real life you could fire it from a building without burning or killing yourself with a rockets Backblast.
4 mates with rockets sounds dope but maybe having one spot and the other three shooting rockets, very similar to a sniper team but you have rockets instead of snipers obviously
This concept of shooting ahead of or behind the target is actually accounted for very precisely in today’s modern artillery. The angle that you shift to account for the difference in vertical interval between you and the target is called the Angle of Site
tip: if you can..go for the high arc first and then the low arc both rounds should impact at the same time. I haven't tested but its the same principal that the MRSI (mulitple round simultaneous impact) systems of the Paladin self propelled howitzers use. So instead of 1 shot and then long reload...you may be able to get 2 impacts in a shorter window reducing the tank, sniper, group of enemies ability to react in time.
@Tentai, yes. Less time for sure but he's talking about where you make all rounds hit at the same time to give instakills. Reaction time to damage is kinda short, just look at your average quickscoping/dragshooting video. If you are hit by an explosion you are likely to change your direction or at least bug on out of there. Since the splash radius is small, a randomly moving target is an impossible target with the piat.
That’s so sick!!! This requires way more skill and awareness than an actual stupid airburst BF1 mortar or something like that. I think that’s really neat and I’m looking forward to trying it out myself. Thanks Jack!
Spethman Jones airburst mortar in BF1 is shit these days tbh after the dmg nerfs over the lifespan of the game was a one hit kill back at Launch. But now IT takes like 2-3 rounds to kill ppl with it
thanks for these little tips and tricks videos Jack, been playing bf v for a while now and im still discovering all this stuff that makes the gameplay just that bit more fun.
You should try using Staghound upgraded with rockets, it can be used as rocket artillery devastating infantry from afar behind cover though you have to stay near a resuply station because you only have 4 rockets at time. It's especially good on Aerodrome. And it has huge damage radius and can almost destroy a Tiger in one run.
Just discovered this. I think i missed ur vid bc i turned on post notes for ur channel after u posted it. Keep up the good work jacks. Hope u fig out ur med issues
Yeah thanks for showing us this! Will definitely be using it and it's kinda expected for dice to not tell us this things, thanks again love your videos!
Always see you in my recommended and always peep your BF knowledge even though I’m a cod guy. Definitely picking this up after watching your recent content and subscribing!
I remember when you did a video on how unbalanced the Muromets was... and that evening every douche in BF1 was flying the Muromets. (thanks for that) I look forward to playing BFV this evening 😒 (FML)
Man, I was really missing the mortar these snipers are so damn pesky and keep dipping in and out of cover popping shots off no matter their health cause they can't be supressed.
@@ryanmcgrath9662 I'm pretty sure the majority of people complaining about the BF1 suppression were snipers that don't help their team by sitting 500 meters away from anything else.
Not sarcasm really. I really do think using mortars to take out snipers or other hidden opponents so that you team can advance, is playing the objective.
This is nice for just taking out tanks in general I stop using the PIAT because I missed too much but now I know about the mini map thing it might make it easier, great tip.
Hey Jack I like the style of this video, could you go through a lot of the weapons and gadgets and give a rundown like this showing pros and cons and what kind of situations they're best for? I think it could make an cool series for you, kinda like a behind the scenes of glory thing 😅
I'm not entirely sure why there is a smoke trail with it; however within the projectile there is a charge which assists the spring return when the projectile is launched. The PIAT is a heavy fucker, trust me... I've manhandled the thing more times than enough. If there was no charge; you would be priming the spring every time you use it.
For anyone trying this, I recommend doing it with a party chat 3 mortars and 1 recon, play on frontlines or conquest where you can build ammo stations close to capture points. The 3 mortar guys stay near ammo station and keep refueling while recon uses the binocular device/ flare to spot out enemies. (For those new to flares shoot into the sky for maximum effect). Was running this with some friends and it’s hilariously fun. You don’t get a crazy amount of kills but there’s some funny moments where you sometimes get quad or vehicle kills. Also I don’t know if jack mentioned this but the ammo station gives you 1 extra piat rocket for a total of three each time you refuel atm.
It's not really indirect, you still have to aim physically on the screen. It also doesn't always hit where you're aiming, and the lack of 3D spotting makes it not as easy to use.
This is something I will be having a go at, hitting 3 mortars into an objective before rushing it will give the enemy something to think about. Ty for the info Sir jackfrags
@@tibbar20111987 Most people wouldnt notice that mate, and its not advertised. They'd have to start aiming the launcher and then bring up their map for some weird reason to actually realize there was a marker moving on it
This weapon/gadget looks soooo fun I know my deaths are gonna go up as soon as I’ve unlocked it😂 but without this video I’d of never saw the map addition so thanks👌🏼👍🏼
The first Heli was invented in 1939, and it was completely bare bones. No way it could've been used in combat. Choppers weren't used in battle till about the Korean War
Deury Mota There’s only 3 helicopters that saw service in WW2, all in limited numbers. Fa-223 Drache, a twin-rotor light transport helicopter used in the mountains with 20 produced. Notably was supposed to be used in the raid to rescue Mussolini but was unreliable and they opted for a light scout plane instead. The Fl-282 Kolibri, a single-seat intermeshed tandem rotor light reconnaissance helicopter used as an artillery spotter and scout aircraft. 24 produced. The Sikorsky R-4B Hoverfly, a single rotor light transport helicopter used by the US and UK as a light cargo aircraft and for search and rescue. Performed the first combat rescue in 1944. 131 produced. None of these were armed, as it happens. Though there were plans for a anti-submarine version of the Fa-223 carrying a pair of light depth charges.
I wonder how many people don't realize helicopters were used during WWII in limited numbers. I think it would be kinda cool if Dice created a map that had one in some way to fuck with people.
Well, did not even know about such a cool function. Thought the panzerfaust is a versatile and powerful grenade launcher, but now I’ll reconsider my attitude towards the PIAT. Thanks, Jack.
Wow, this helped me so much. I just thought that Piat is way worse than Panzerfaust because of its drop, and it is included in the game just for the allied faction. Thanks !
the level mechanic for mortars in BF4 was actually exactly the same. I used to take out snipers in hainan resort by basically aiming long to hit them on top of the roof. After you do it for a while you start being able to mentally estimate your aim points.
also using the high angle shot first and the low angle as second shot they land much faster at together at the same target. if you only use the high angle it takes longer and the targets can have moved after the first impact.
