Mechanicus esp gets nova cannons on everything.

It's even more broken with AdMech as a playable faction!

I guess it was also a bad match up. Other ships with higher mobility like for astartes could easily dodge most of the shots.

Yeah it's basically a matter of being hit by single shots till you use your teleport, and then being hit by all of them. If they just changed teleport to work off a gauge based on distance, Necrons might stand a chance against Nova Cannons

Well it does tie into a single player campaign mode! Four campaigns, actually

Would be cool if they did something like Total War, use a strategic level game managing planets in your Sector, with two-part tactical engagements; ship battles attacking or defending planets or convoys (as well as scout/patrol encounters), and planetstrike battles to claim worlds (and maybe stations & space hulks). Could even toss in a skirmish-level game for key encounters, doing the XCOM thing maybe... Would be freaking huge if they could pull it off, not easy to get the balance right strategically though without a lot of handwaving...

Yeah, it's a rough matchup. The counter to spread out fleets is bombers and assault boats, which the necrons don't have. The counter to star pulse spam is forcing the necron to jump shortly before he is in starpulse jump range, which mass nova cannons are perfect for. Imperial navy ships, unlike a lot of factions, get both assault boats and bombers, so they can really punish spreading out just by trickling ships in constantly. (not sure about admech, they might only get bombers). At any rate, it's tough for a spread out fleet to deal with 6 waves of assault craft per launch bay, using only 3 flights of doom scythes and one star pulse per location on the battlefield. I don't like the design of admech at the best of times, but they seem to be at their worst against necrons: a race with no shields, an all or nothing movement mechanic, and not very good turret values.

To be fair necrons suffer against anything with range and mobility but tend to decimate anything that has to engage into their jump range. Tau with mass launch assets, seeker torpedoes and big range do a number on them too as they tend to just kite around hurling out fighters tondecimate PD, then send in the waves of tough manta bombers and seeker torps.

@@timmietimmins3780 ad mech is basicly the Imperial navy with more nova cannons and slightly worse boarding

they are they just faced a hard counter here, aldary would have easily outpaced the nova cannon spam while necrons are too slow to do that
