Battlefleet Gothic Battle Report - Chaos vs. Imperial 

I wish WG would bring this game back. I would buy it in a heart beat.

OH man i loved BFG. I hope GW revives this as a specialist game again.

This game is brilliant, it only started to creak at the seems as they began adding fleet after fleet in the traditional GW power creep. Before adding Necrons it was pretty solid with any match up. You also had enough in a box for two people to have plenty to play with and it was common for people in my area to each buy a box and trade the ships they weren't interested in. You would quickly end up with 8 cruisers for your fleet, enough to really get a battle going! Sadly if GW ever redoes this they will much up the ship models to jack up the price and make a single box something like $130. I haven't given them one penny since 3rd edition Space Hulk.

Nice game, thanks! We love BFG too, and the many gamers in Russia have hope what GW will restarting this game. It's huge problem to find the bfg miniatures here in this time.

I wish this one was coming back, shame when i asked at the Warhammer World open day a while back one of the specialist games designers said "we would need to take two years off two of our existing titles to work on it so its not on the cards". Maybe someday.

Nice bat rep, we're still playing bfg as well. But I am not sure with some rule interpretations. For example, do you roll for every cobra while flying through the asteroids? It's a squadron, so only one roll, right? Bfi before the hit rolls. Torps getting destroyed, if they hit a planet. You can't pick blast markers in the end, which came in the same turn.

This is definitely getting a comeback, and I can't wait

"You don't see Devastations very often..." Not my experience, although post-Spec Games fan tweaks may have changed that. The Devs are far cheaper and easier to fit in a fleet and perform excellently as circling snippers using their 60cm broadside lance to finish off targets while hurling ordnance (usually assault boats) at the enemy. Styx are expensive, cost you a heavy cruiser slot, and while they add 6FP of 60cm shooting to their 2 dorsal lances, they're no tougher to kill than a Dev. Their cost means you could get three Devs for two Styx (not that you'd generally go that carrier-heavy anyway at 1000 points), and the Devs would be half again more durable, just as good at chucking ordnance (especially if squadroned up), and 6 lances versus 4 lances and 12 FP at very long range isn't much to choose between.

They should have made a Battlefleet gothic Rifts Apart, set just after the fall.of cadia with the Imperial fleet trying to stem the tide if chaos raider.

Curious why there were no rolls or effects for going thru the debris from hits on your ships. Why aren't the tokens fanned out? I recall when you launch 8 torpedoes you make a line of torpedoes 8 width wide. Same with bombers and fighters?

I like this mutch more than star wars armada. Armada is more streamlined but also oversimplified. All the complexity it has comes from very gamy mechanics while the depth 2d space/naval combat could have is not there. When playing Armada i felt like fighting the game mechanics more than the battle itself, it also feel incredibly clunky and fiddly, very frustrating to play in my opinion. Gothic has much more depth in representing abstract naval combat and much less fake depth coming from mechanics.

I love this game but it costs too much unfortunately! Congratulations for the game, nice battlemat but the ships could be painted better. Excellent game strategy.

They need to bring this back with larger models.
