Yep I'd expect tanks to flip over just from the kinetic impact. No penetration means much of the kinetic energy of the shell is transferred directly to the sturms. Those 14" shells weigh around 1,400 lb.

Agreed, and anyone inside a tank that is shoved that hard, that quickly, is gonna be mince from the sudden acceleration. It'd be like sitting in a parked car and having a supersonic wall of bricks smash in to you.

At the same time, that's a very Guardsman like moment. Spawn my tanks, so your corpses can form a wall for your brothers to hide behind!

Yeah people only think of the main guns, but forgot about the whole AA and auxiliary arsenal + the amount of HE they can carry to demolish an entire town

WT's damage model cannot accurately model the destructive force of a battleship's main armament. The kinetic energy alone from one of its HE shells can destroy any tank in game, even if it impacts armor plate that should on paper resist it's explosive force, nevermind the overpressure, the sheer kinetic energy would be enough to turn it into scrap. Misses from BB guns were in reality known to throw tanks into the air, even from AP shells with small explosive filler charges.

@@Procrastinater that's also a problem for derp guns and arty calls. Any HE bigger than 150mm should make any tanks fear for their life, shake them around and break shit. But we only got a hit on direct hit that isn't exactly on the thinnest part of the tank Which is why i always wanted bomb logic to be integrated for guns above certain caliber. They shake and flip tanks, destroy shit on near miss, and guarantees destruction within a radius

Its 11 inch rocket gun was strong enough to blast through 8 ft of concrete . So it has the firepower to blast through most things . The sturmtigers is basically a walking anti ship gun with a 3.5 mile shooting range

About 32,000kg per minute on a full broadside from an Iowa class with all guns in fact. They are basically throwing a whole car worth of metal and high explosive at you every 2 seconds, even more if you also count the batteries on the other side of the ship

I mean, if you want to do it that way, make it fair and let the ship engage from their optimal range as well, which is about 10km - 20km with their bi plane as reconnaissance unit......

@@cideltacommand7169 I’m not a historian or a naval expert so take what I’m about to say with salt, anyway the uss Texas had a belt armour of 305mms of armour so let’s assume this atgm has 1000mms of rha penetration for simplicity now first I’m pretty sure the armour on a battleship is spaced which severely lowers the effectiveness of heat warheads plus after it goes through the belt it would have to get through a well protected barbette which is where I’m pretty sure the ammo would be stored plus there’s a lot of space whether it’s armour or air or anything in between there is a lot of space between the armour and the ammo making it very unlikely the heat would reach the magazine’s, I would like to mention that I took a lot of assumptions and simplified it a lot since there are just so many variables and as I said I am not a expert of any sort and know very little relating to history the navy or the military but from what I know it would likely never make it to any of the magazines.

@@user-pw1oh2mw6q except for the fact that these shells often will cause overpressure because they’re either HE shells or armor piercing with huge amount of explosive filler, most MBTs would find themselves overwhelmed pretty fast and probably killed pretty fast thanks to overpressure hitting weak roof armor on their hulls or just side armor, I chose the 279 as something that would do well because it lacks any real weak roof armor for the hull along its frontal arc and is extremely blast resistant against explosives like bombs and High Explosive shells.

well, yes, IRL, battleships were feared at shore bombardment, they can safely bombard from 10km+ distance

Maybe he hase more the firepower of a light cruiser than heavy cruiser, and I don't think he can make bounce a full volley, maybe some shell but not all
