Ask and ye shall receive. Today we have an #ar10 #ar308 with #highlandgreen and #armorblack #cerakote with some #shamrock #stencils. You don’t need a crazy setup to start doing Cerakote. I’ve got maybe $1,000 tied up in my setup (minus shop space, of course). It is recommended to spray outside or in a well-ventilated area.
Do you have any more requests? Camo? Splatter? Let me know in the comments. If you like our work or would like to see more, please check us out on Instagram and Facebook at Sunshine Cerakote, or online at sunshinecerakote.com

Acetone battleworn I like!!!

Ive always tacked out my second coat as well, then begin the wearing after it cools down as I never thought of just wearing the top coat with zero cure. It takes a bit more effort it would seem the other way, and sometimes even a bit of acetone one the pad. But I like the fact I can hold the parts in my hand gloved of course to manipulate them as I do the wear. But I will give this method a try on the next battle worn project.

I used to do it the same way, but this is so much easier. The coating will air cure a bit while you’re spraying the next parts in line, and the thinner the layer the quicker it’ll happen. Usually by the time I get done with spraying, the first part is a little tacky

Do you have a picture of this assembled after it’s baked?

We do, but I have no idea how to post photos to RU-vid. I’ve seen it done so I know it’s possible. Just haven’t figured out the trick for myself

8 to 10 minuets at "300*" ? I have been using 8-10 at 180* to flash dry between coats. Too dry of a bake and second or 3rd coat wont stick, right? Is it because you want to be able to scuff the battle worn a bit easier? I am doing small/thin parts, mostly eye wear. I have yet to tray a battle worn but it next up on my list. And is it the same for putting E-250 Titanium over the top of a solid H-347 Copper? As you said a light color shows better than the darker. Paul at 4 Dogs Cerakote.

The coating scuffs a lot easier when you let it air dry, yes. And I’d definitely suggest doing an E over top of an H coating, as you generally can’t stack on top of an E because of how slick it is. My multi coat projects are all done with H series base coats.

@@sunshinecerakote3930 Thank you very much. I tried the acetone rag vs scotch-bright a few times, I am a LOT better with a scotch-bright scuff style and doing the acetone and cotton rag, I found that it must be flash dried not an air dry gas-off or it just turns to a slimy goo every time but not with a flash dry. I think I'll stick to scotch-bright, go with what works ;) Paul @ 4 Dogs Cerakote.

A tip I got from a buddy of mine in Pensacola helps me out sometimes when I’m going for different wear patterns too. Try dried out baby wipes, paper towels, or pretty much anything else that’ll wipe or scratch the coating. Everything will give you a different scratch/wear pattern, so try a few out.

Is that charcoal green?

The base color was highland green and the top coat was armor black. Came out really nice, even if the scratching didn’t show up that well on the dark base.

What type of oven system are u using ?
@sunshinecerakote3930
@sunshinecerakote3930 Год назад
To be honest it’s a regular old kitchen oven. I wired a new plug to it and let it rip. It reliably holds temp and is designed for use. I’ve been wanting to pull the board and heating element from it to make a custom enclosure for larger parts, but haven’t had the need as yet

@@sunshinecerakote3930 I'm using a electric smoker with a thermostat that will get to 400°. I pulled it apart and stuffed it full of insulation to hold heat more even. I can get about any barrel or handrail on it along with small parts. Even a Chevy manifold need be will fit. Look into that it's cheap and maybe someday when I get more money invested back into the business I will invest in better blaster and oven. But im a small fish in big pond. Thank you and u do good work ..

Any experience with their C coating line up? Air dry.. but that’s it. Just two coats?
@sunshinecerakote3930
@sunshinecerakote3930 2 года назад
Yes, actually. Prep is especially important with the C series. Ask me how I know…. But yes, 5-7 days to air cure and baking isn’t a viable option. However, it’s probably the strongest coating series they offer. Definitely a good option if you’re going to be rough with the end product.

@@sunshinecerakote3930 Prep is key to anything like that. I want to use C series… no mixing or baking. If I am seen using the oven for gun parts all hell will rise. On my second coat, using scotch bright pads to give it the texture. It won’t scratch the first coat?
