The lock pick isn’t useless. I don’t really want to start an argument in the replies but lockpicks can be useful in a select few scenarios. Although not very useful, it still has its moments

I always buy a lockpicker when I'm doing solo runs, it's especially helpful on rend because of how long the fire exit run is. The amount of times I get stuck behind a locked door at fire exit which basically ruins the day. The meta for solo is to get in get out as fast as you possibly can. Swing by fire exit and grab whatever is easy. Then you haul everything back and leave. Getting stuck behind a locked door means I have to run to main losing lots of time. And main generally has less loot readily available. You could also bring a key or two to the fire exit but that isn't always reliable. Usually bringing a key back to the ship isn't worth the extra inv space that could go to a piece of scrap. So if your going for a high quota solo run you aren't gonna make it far if your wasting slots to bring keys back to the ship. Lockpicker is ideal here as it's reusable and cheap. So if you don't want to waste the inventory space you can just leave it and buy a new one. Especially after quota 4-5 you have tons of extra money to spare. Quite honestly the game needs more items like the lockpicker that provide a little bit of utility but only end up being viable later in runs. It makes long quota runs less repetitive which is a need for this game.
