Saturday August 10th saw 35028 'Clan Line' haul her first and only non-British Pullman working of 2019, 'The Atlantic Coast Express', chartered by UK Railtours. This tour would see her running down the South Western Main Line from London Waterloo to Exeter, returning via Bristol Temple Meads and Salisbury. This proved to be a challenging day's filming, with high winds and gusts of up to 50mph, making things very difficult in terms of keeping the camera still. We first catch the MNLPS flagship at speed on the South Western Main Line, passing a foot crossing at Semley. She is next seen working up the 1 in 80 gradient of Honiton Bank, seen from a road bridge on Moorcox Cross. The first return return shot was on the road bridge at Burlescombe. Unfortunately, the high winds knocked the camera about too much, which caused the shot to be very shaky indeed. So, we instead move on to Upton Scudamore, where Clan Line is captured approaching the summit of the hard 1 in 70 climb after Westbury, with much whistling from Driver Vince Henderson.
Filmed on a Panasonic VXF990 with a Pro Sound L92AA microphone.
