I saw them live recently, and the show was absolutely breath taking. Mayhem, who played headliner, didn't even come close to the epicness that Батюшка resonated with. Best shit I've seen in a long time.
Saw them live couple of years before they split. Probably one of the best concert's I've ever been to atmosphere wise , along with Wolves in the Throne Room
As someone who can understand their lyrics, I ask myself whether their intention was to mock Christianity or to glorify it, cause these orthodox chants sound way more glorious when performed by Батюшка. Nevertheless, absolutely brilliant band! I am going to see them live next month and to seek the salvation of my soul!

Yes, they are. For example in Ектения 2 part of the lyrics are Beatitudes - Заповеди блаженства "Бл҃же́ни ни́щїи дꙋ́хомъ: ꙗ҆́кѡ тѣ́хъ є҆́сть црⷭ҇твїе нбⷭ҇ное." etc :) These are legit orthodox chants
It's some kind of blasphemic, laveyan self-praise. They simply replaced every "you" in the prayers with "I", as if they were the god that talks with us, not in the opposite. Egocentrism at it's finest. Nothing spiritual about this. I shouldn't enjoy them so much. I'm actually a legit christian that plans to get baptized in a eastern orthodox church soon, so yeah.. their music is kinda mighty. I admit that.

what makes it even more believable that this would be an official video is how blasted well it’s synced up... with the exception of the bell and clacky-thingy everything matches up perfectly; i actually thought this was how they sounded live the first time i watched this. “dang they play a tight show!” lol
@@nergal5353 Just watched them in Istanbul 2 weeks ago. Shit, they sounded like the studio version and nailed every bit of the Yekteniya III and IV. They also played most of the Maria album. Even the vocals were pitch perfect. Only drawback was Bart had a tough time keeping up with the long scream at the beginning of the Yekteniya IV, so he had to divide it to two screams lmao.
So weird. This is a band from my childhood hometown of Bialystok. I am 47, been listening to metal since 9, but I live in US now, so the Polish metal scene to me is pretty foreign outside of Vader and Kat, bands from my childhood. I stumbled upon Mgla and through them now to Batushka.
@iubirel bwhahahaha i actually checked the lyrics, to all the songs, and yeah i dont think so, satanism, is by definition atheism, and this song is clearly Divinely inspired, but, you may believe whatever you want, but, its nearly ragnarok, so id go read your Bible, AND listen to Batushka.
I wish they had a whole concert in this quality, it's just amazing the way they sound and see on stage, but all the videos on youtube have bad audio :(

The whole time I though this is a 6 string song in C# standard. Never occured to me they meant C#0, not your standard C#. Mind-blowing, how they managed to sound that good.
Batushka is a both beautifully aesthetic and wondrous sounding band. Even though I dont understand what they say. Like al namrood. Idk why but music that isnt in English just sounds better to me.

Most ironic thing is the fact that some of most popular satanic bands nowadays (behemoth, mgła, batushka) originated from ultra-catholic country of Poland....
Where I come from, we have a ton of Russian backrground, which includes a ton of Russian Orthodox stuff. I’m not religious though. I want these guys to come play here 🤘🏼🔥
