YEP. A hospital charge of 36 dollars for a bag of saline that cost $1.40 and a charge of 18 dollars for one aspirin that cost 6 cents. Until we figure out how to have FORCED PRICE CONTROLS on all hospitals and medical expenditures, they will simply keep charging more and more. That sounds very communist, I know, but it might be the only way to control the prices charged to patients.

I work at a hospital in Virginia. I’m not a doctor or a nurse . I work in the warehouse and I deal with these PPE items everyday. It’s a shame that all that PPE is sitting outside like that being ruined. That was hospitals big struggle when the pandemic 😷 occurred was supply shortage. Mask, face shields, gowns , gloves etc. These items are like Gold. They should be treated like it. We are still in a pandemic. Someone should be held accountable for that mess.. and who ever is in charge should be fired 🤦🏻♂️😒😒. YOU CANT FIX STUPID!
If an employee were to take anything like that home without permission, they would be fired, and rightfully so. However, here we have millions of dollars in PPE wasted and not one person will be held accountable.

United Van Lines will schedule a pickup, load it right off the street and get it right over to you. Nobody local is taking advantage of it at all. Heck, not even the homeless there are interested. So I'm sure you have plenty of time to come up with something.
Why not just distribute the supplies to the places they were intended to go? Why stockpile them when you actually had no safe place to store them? If you want to know what's really going on, FOLLOW THE MONEY!
These people show daily why they shouldn't be allowed out of the house in the morning without a keeper. They definitely shouldn't be in charge of anything important.
I did a job at a red cross warehouse doing a remodel the stuff they threw in the dumpsters was insane I got about 300 heavy duty rain suits from one dumpster I had brand new rain suits for another 10 years before they started to dry rot in the packaging

I agree with you. Every word. Unfortunately, it doesn't only happen in America. It's sickening to see it that much PPE left out in the open whether it's out of date or not. At the very least, these supplies should have been housed out of the elements until they could be donated, sold, or even scrapped. The optics of them sitting in the elements were terrible at best.

Even in a school lunch room you are required to put food on someone's tray even if you know they're not going to eat it they have to go sit down at the table with it and then they can throw it away after they've sat there with it throughout the lunchtime. I could not stand the fact that you had to have help for the janitor to be able to even get the garbage out because there was so much waste. I remember before this was a government rule. We lived in a schoolhouse that the cooks came in early and we would make the food. Nothing was ever thrown away just so that you could say that it was used up and get more. It's our government it's the way that things work it's why the rich people that know how to work the system because if it's never their income and they don't claim it as income they never have to pay taxes on it so they just work the system and have all those assets and know how to put it down on paper to never have to pay taxes. When Republicans are in office they are perfectly fine with somebody making $40,000 a year paying more taxes than a billion dollar corporation. Especially because they have investments in that corporation and their buddies own it and they all play golf together. The only people that are busy pointing fingers at politicians and naming politicians that they think are personally responsible for it are the other people not paying their share of the taxes and figuring out ways to swindle others.
It's ridiculous how leaving PPE out in the open is considered acceptable. Exposure to the elements can accelerate the deterioration of the PPEs, making their use unsafe. At 2:09 there's a carpark in the background. Why not just put the PPE there so that it's shielded from the rain and sun and just have the cars parked where the PPE are? It's not ideal but still better than leaving the PPEs without at least a roof over them.
It can’t be used after it’s been outside. They should have rented appropriate climate-controlled storage space and moved it there, without a stopover at a way station in the elements.

It will be some idiocy like not having the money in the facilities budget to pay for storage space but plenty of money left in the PPE budget to replace what has to be dumped.
It truly amazes me when companies that may overstock or heavily exceed an order is ordered to dispose of, rather than give the items away or have a return clause. If you fear backlash for unused food or items, have them sign a waiver. Taxpayers - this day and age - wil uncover regardless.
Audit! we need an audit of the whole state of California and what our tax dollars are really being used for. This is not the only corruption we are paying for. we need to know how much of our tax dollars are being wasted on all these different projects/programs/anything that pertains to tax dollars. Especially when everybody’s getting paid for nothing to get done.. audit, we need an audit of not only where the money is going to but also how their maintaining their projects/programs and how they’re actually coming along. Whats amazing is all of this is stored 25 feet away from an open parking garage at the hosptial. Could've been put there under some kind of roof instead of in the open weather

working in the construction industry it’s always make sure all materials that might be sensitive to the elements need to be properly stored and protected, like covering with tarps and secure them somewhere onsite or at a proper indoor location once delivered. Then I highly doubt medical supplies including PPE are not being the same or even have a higher requirement. Just leaving half a million worth of items outside at the parking lot? this is negligence and corruption.
Words can not express my feelings seeing,hearing more reports on PPE wasting! All the people involved should be held accountable and investigation needs to be done ASAP ! As a tax payer and a RN for 40yr I am truly furious. I and other nurses have to buy some of our PPE to protect ourselves,our families,communities. Most important of all,to care for our COViD-19 patients. I & my co- worker nurses are always very conscientious of saving PPE each day. The hospital I work for recently announced there is a” nationwide PPE shortage “!!! Everyone needs to care,to be involved in solving this problem because COVID-19 pandemic will be with us for a while. And by the way, the majority of nurses like me are only hourly pay workers !

How many years of medical school do you need to know that you can rent mobile storage containers? ..and they take up no more room than the boxes already do outside.
but then you have to pay monthly for it around $150- $250 depending on size anf if yopu keep it for years thats $1,800 pre year to store things. i don't think they wanted to pay for storage other wise your paying for space in hopes of people taking the ppe
I work in the healthcare industry In Los Angeles area and we still have a shortage of gowns. The company I work for has an inventory system where we have to report all PPE weekly and gowns are what we order every week. Today Friday the inventory in all of our 30 facilities in California gowns is what we need the most Last week I ordered 5,000 gowns with a cost of $2,000 and still waiting for delivery. So to me those gowns are in good condition because back in May of 2021 in our first Covid outbreak we had to use plastic bags. So my advice to whoever owns those piles of PPE donate them to whoever needs PPE. I am willing to go and help to clean the parking lot of that gold mine.
Years ago when I was a otr truck driver a medical supply company in wis. Rejected my trailer because of the smell..... last load was wrapping paper, they smelled the ink....
While health care workers and in home support nurses struggle to find supplies such as these, their being wasted when so many people need these supplies. Someone needs to be made accountable!
This is so wasteful. No wonder we (CA) have the highest income taxes in the US. The sad part is, this story will be forgotten and nothing is going to change. People/companies need to be held accountable for this, but they'll just donate to some politician and it will all go away.

It sounds like what had happened was that the hospital(s) had regularly been overreporting the number of covid patients admitted, and therefore the county had estimated the amount needed based on the number of covid patients the hospital was pretending to admit. And viola! Wasted PPE, wasted tax dollars all because of the hysteria.
It's San Mateo County, they've been so irresponsible with taxpayers money over the decades that I've seen that they are only concerned they were caught
