Thousands of boxes filled with masks and protective gear worth more than $10 million were left in the rain outside a Bay Area event center. abc7ne.ws/3GslLBL #covid19 #ppe #sanmateocountyeventcenter
Let me guess.... The Democrats bought these at 100x what they would normally cost with emergency Government funds the Democrats approved, from companies the Democrats own, or the Democrats own stock in. And some how, 99% of the money spent ended up in Nancy Pelosi's and Gavin Newsome's "CHARITIES"...
In California stealing up to $950 is a misdemeanor. That event center supervisor is watching her high paid job fading away with every question she answers with, "umm, uhhh, ummm...they were already damaged!" Watch the finger pointing.
Did the guy take responsibility? The words came out of his mouth but what consequence will he pay ? What will he do to reprimand that lady that supposedly runs the event center ? That’s a LOT of tax payer dollars that were purposefully wasted
@@karenrollins9578 It is mind-blowing how no one researches anything. They all see one report and thats it, its fact. These PPE and masks were counterfeit, can not be used or sold. The government was reimbursed and the company went out of business.
@@mmarlow6697 Yeah I bet the lady will find someone to toss the blame on. Sad that the people down there are always the scapegoat. No wonder our government agencies are riddled with outdated tech.
That woman who runs the event centre should bear a lot of the responsibility. And her attitude was quite shocking. To know all this life saving equipment was sitting outside and she did nothing???? She should definitely be one of those held accountable.
She must have gotten her position through nepotism bc she isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. What she should have done is called hospitals, clinics, shelters and schools in the area before moving the boxes outside and they would have been more than happy to take the PPE off her hands and she would have made herself look good in the process.
@@rnhim2072 well these types are typical in government jobs especially in management, and I've worked with some of these types. Crazy part is they will somehow wiggle out of that issue, and blame others. They are just waiting for their pension to kick in---horrible and miserable people.
That ignorant woman running the event centre should be charged for this. How dare she claim it was dealt with as it should be. “They were damaged in a previous storm” the nerve to say that while its actively raining on them. Lives could have been saved with this gear, not to mention the waste of tax dollars.

oh yeah that will be useful, some litigation. meanwhile next time people will continue to not know how to handle unprecedented task scales that fall on too few shoulders, and it will just happen again. a 10million dollar shipment of anything shows up anywhere and it should be expected people won't know how to handle it, and need extra organizational help.
@@tsmspace it doesnt take a genius to know and understand that a storage space could have resolved this whole issue until the equipment was dispersed to its proper locations 🤦♀️ Instead they set it outside and expose ot to the elements just to be wasted? That woman is clearly too incompetent to be in charge of anything, much less an organization handling millions of dollars worth of PPE. That she insisted everything was handled correctly was beyond the pale. Absolutely no sense of accountability.
She knew she was going to be exposed "please stop recording". She is in the right position unfortunately, only the corrupt can be so successful. I'm usually and optimist but the past 2 years its clear the higher the authority, the more corrupt.

Coming from a smaller hospital we had pallets upon pallets dumped on us of mostly useless stuff. Gowns that weren't rated properly, goggles with bands that were so old they snapped when you put them on and so many dust masks. I guess it's there in a pinch, but not until that pinch. The biggest problem was where to put it all. We're renting shipping containers for items that are likely on their way to the landfill. Not sure who made a killing selling this "ppe" to the government, but it wasn't as valuable as they thought.

That woman, CEO of the Event Center, that drove up should lose her job, as well as the County Manager. Allowing over $$$ 10 Million worth of inventory... that the local taxpayers had to shell their own money out for is NOT acceptable. Those two people alone are making big wages to do their jobs, and they failed miserably. If I lived there and paid their salaries and the costs of stuff like this, I'd be incredibly pissed. What a freakin' mess. $10Million. Don't let them off the hook!!
The taxpayers should receive a refund paid by the morons that ordered them to move it all outside. If they truely needed the space, all of this PPE should have been moved to a warehouse. Certainly $10M in taxpayer expense deserves to be handled properly instead of leaving it to rot. How much of this ended up turning to mold in which the cleanup crew were exposed. All of this PPE turning in to a Bio Hazard! HEADS NEED TO ROLL!
This was NO MISTAKE those in charge knew exactly what they did and the woman who is the ceo of the event center should be removed from her position and held accountable for her actions even some jail time would be warranted.
That was my first thought - this was done on purpose. So tragic! The owner should be held accountable. This sounds like something that would happen in Florida, sadly. Makes my stomach turn.
There are so many wrongs at several levels. It’s not just the damaged PPEs, but the county is paying $25 a piece for a mop handle? The person that’s approving these purchases should step down immediately.
Have you ever looked up the price the military pays for a hammer? Sometimes a hundred bucks a hammer. This is nothing new. When you get into a high position your son or daughter starts supplying the equipment . lol
The county is not paying it. The multi-trillion dollar covid relief bills that the Congress keeps ramming through are where this money comes from. When the grant funding is established, these municipalities are required by law to spend the money on what they are told to, whether they need it or not. This goes on all over the country, and has for decades. My personal experience is with hurricane relief. Weeks or even months after the event, these clowns show up with TRUCKLOADS of food and water that nobody needs, nobody wants, and these local governments have no where to store, so they wind up disposing of it. And no, it cannot be donated to the local food bank OR returned to the govt, so it often just goes to the landfill. Absolutely nauseating.

Sure, just think about it. Order $10 million in PPE from a Chinese company. They produce it for pennies, perhaps with the use of child labor, maybe even slave labor. The CCP gets their cut, the CEO and board gets their cut, Hunter Biden gets his cut, which means 10% of that goes to "The Big Guy", then there's the state politicians that supported the Covid panic, the ones who made this panic buy possible, they get a cut. Yeah, all those responsible should be held accountable. Though unless the people who moved the boxes outside, made that decision through their own drive, their bosses are the ones more responsible. Whatever event that was started that lead to the removal of the boxes from their proper storage, needs to be looked into.
The county needs to reimburse the citizens of every single tax dollar that was intentionally flushed down the drain through laziness, dishonesty and carelessness. It's unbelievable what they get away with daily. It needs to stop.
I'm guessing that they took the stuff outside so that they could rent out the interior rooms for conventions and stuff. They were probably eager to get some money for storing that stuff, took it outside to Maximise interior sales, and ate it when the rain came before the hospitals picked up the stuff, probably due to weak storage capacity in those hospitals. Understandable, but still a logistical mess.
This is disgusting and unacceptable. At least eight companies partially owned by Gov. Gavin Newsom collectively received millions of dollars from the Paycheck Protection Program, according to an ABC7 analysis. While data released by the Small Business Administration earlier this year showed the PlumpJack Group received up to $350,000 worth of PPP loans, newly-released data by the SBA indicated PlumpJack businesses - including wineries, bars, and restaurants - received more than eight times that amount at nearly $3 million altogether.
I work at an Amazon FC and have seen numerous boxes that were considered damaged by Amazon's standards. Generally damaged BOXES are boxes that appear to be ripped open, water damaged or tear damage in the items packaging. These items would constitute as water damaged due to the nature of the incident despite being sealed in plastic wrapping. Generally these items would be completely trashed, but it appears they were at least trying to keep them for some sort of emergency despite how carelessly they treated it.
