I am a Disney voice actor and I just stayed at the Bay Lake Tower for a Tower of Terror 25th Anniversary event. I loved the Bay Lake Tower, I could not have been more comfortable. Bed was great the room was nice and cool, I loved coffee maker area, the bathroom was great too. If I needed to go to a restaurant or market I just walked over to the Contemporary. It could not have been better, oh and that walk to the Magic Kingdom is the best. Sometimes as you all know, You just do NOT want to wait for another bus with 60 tired tourists all yelling at their kids and to just leave Magic Kingdom and walk for eight or ten minutes and there you are back at your hotel!!! That was absolute magic. And that is my story. I narrated Tower of Terror 25 years ago, good lord!!!

We were able to snag BLT points direct from Disney two years ago. I had the same impression when we stayed there for the first time. We can’t imagine staying elsewhere. We took our 15 month old son with us this past January we also stayed in a one bedroom lake view (on the very top floor so lounge access was easy) and the experience was top notch. I highly recommend it to any and everyone. When you stay on the top floor you scan your magic band in the elevator and you can get access to the lounge upstairs simply because you are staying on that floor.
I agree with Pete. The place is top notch. We stayed in a 1br there for 2 weeks in March '18. We were able to stretch it out to 2 weeks because we went for a standard view room instead of a park view room. However even though it was a standard view room, we managed to get a room (7320) on the 3rd floor that faced the Magic Kingdom. Disney considers it a standard view room due to the parking lot . The 5th floor and above would be park view, 4th floor and below is standard. We did not mind the parking lot as felt being on the 3rd floor it was high enough, and it is not like being higher would hide it. Had direct view to towards the park and able to sit on the balcony for fireworks every night with the music playing over the TV. It was truly a magical experience. The proximity and walkability to the Magic Kingdom can't be stressed enough as well!
Bought BLT direct when my little girl was 4 yrs old on her first trip to Disney. Must've been about 12 yrs 2008 I think, BLT was still finishing construction, but they had a display floor done. Paid 98 bucks a point. Only bought 200, I wish that I bought 300 because resale cost more than that today and would like to have more points for more trips. We love visiting all the DVC resorts, but we love BLT and always finish our split stays at our home resort because when we visit the Magic Kingdom, we love the short walk rather than waiting for the monorail or bus to go anywhere else. Plus the bus trip to the airport from there always works for us. In the process of buying a small Polynesian contract resale now, because we love it there also. We love all the resorts, except Boardwalk where the cast members seem to always have a bug up their ass.
We stayed at BLT once and I totally agree with u... my family still talks about that vacation. And we find ourselves always comparing our stays at other resorts to BLT
We stayed at OKW a few months ago in the Grand Villa with 11 people. We asked about blankets, and within minutes, they had brought a pile down to us. Service was amazing
Absolutely love BLT. We are not DVC members but rent points to stay there. We’ve been up to top of the world lounge and we’re never asked to show a card. They only asked us where’s our home and we said Bay Lake. 🤷🏻♀️
Just watched the walkthrough; I didn't think I'd be very interested in staying at the Contemporary, but that certainly is a beautiful room. A nice precursor to the Grand Floridian review. (& I want those plates now)
Just stayed at Saratoga Springs for the first time. Those rooms need to be updated NOW. On top of being just generally run down, small TV, no USB outlets, and hardly any electrical outlets.
Totally agree. Will never stay anywhere else. We are staying there next month, my mom is direct owner at Copper Creek and we are all resale at Bay Lake. We can still go up to the lounge, right?
Another great review. I do feel like I need more points at BLT. As for ther coffee, I too wish they had a Keurig like they do at the Universal hotels. I bring my Keurig mini with me for DVC stays, but if I was flying, that wouldn't be an option. It also takes up room in the trunk. It would be great if I didn't have to bring it.
It's cute how people like to brag about "concierge". We always joke when we go to a value resort. Sometimes they have the coolest cupcakes at the quickservice places. We call the quickservice at the values our expanded "concierge" as we get our fancy cupcake. : ) LOL
This may seem like a dumb question but it has never been addressed on the show. If you purchase a contract for 50 points at $100 per point does this mean you will spend $5,000 per year for 50 points each year? Also, if the resort you’re staying at is 50 points per night then it just cost you $5,000 for one night. Is that correct?
Ryan Fitzpatrick no. You pay the $5k for the initial purchase price, then you pay maintenance fees per point each year, typically in the $6-7/per point range. So your yearly cost for the contract is $300 in your example.
Can you do a discussion on RCI as it relates to DVC? I do not own points at DVC, but do own from a different luxury TS resort group and our points can be deposited into RCI and then used at DVC. Does anyone on the panel have advice or information related to using RCI points for DVC?
The wrong sign at TOTWL is a throwback to when that used to be the rule. They just haven't taken it down. They had to slacken the rule as it was too quiet and not making Disney enough $
That's the wording on the elevator sign he mentioned but it contradicts the official DVC website "Disney Vacation Club Members staying at any Disney-owned-and-operated hotel at Walt Disney World Resort (whether they booked with Vacation Points or cash) may enjoy access to this exclusive space just outside Magic Kingdom park." I've heard a whole variety of experiences, but the first time I went up they just looked at my membership card and asked which Disney resort I was staying at (it was Art of Animation). My magic band was not scanned, but it was a couple of hours before the fireworks. It's very unlikely anyone would care if you were staying on points or cash, particularly since that would contradict their own written policy.
