Best long term review of the beloved BB58. It truly is a special watch.

Can't believe this is your first watch review on your channel. Good work!

I feel like I need a solid amount of time with a watch to comment. My initial thoughts about the watch were wrong.

Spot on! I wear my BB58 much more than my Sub. It’s my every day go to watch. It covers all the bases for style, value and stunning beauty. When the sun hits that gold tone it’s magnificent. It’s one of the most versatile purchases I’ve made, and it’s one of my most chosen watches when I start my day. Of course, it’s the cousin to the Sub, but there are many situations where I wouldn’t want to flash a Sub. Excellent review!

Well said! I'm getting a lot more outbof my bb58 3 years on than I did in the first year.

@@aussieexpatwatches : Great! Funny how a watch can sit dormant and then, one day, it calls to you once again. Enjoy it!

I always look forward to and enjoy your videos. I love my blue BB58, had it about as long as you have had yours. It was the watch I wore in the evenings when I took my Rolex off from the day, but now my BB54 is my go to. Either way, Tudor is making some good quality pieces, thanks Aussie 🏆🕰️

That's awesome man! I've yet to see the 54 in person despite helping my friend get one! I like the white text. And the t fit. On paper.

Do you find the polished sections on the case to pickup scratches and scuffs easier than some of your other watches. Maybe it’s me but my 58 is full of scuffs on the polished section have no idea how.

Hey Aus, great review. I’ve had my BB58 for a couple of years and agree with almost everything you say. it’s hugely versatile (also my cooking watch 😂), with the Tudor logo it’s not objectionable in business/social situations, and represents massive value for money at its price point. Things I’ve grown to like: catching a glimpse of the gilt-edged hands in the sunlight; best bezel sound out there; goes with any outfit for any occasion. Things I’ve grown to dislike: lack of adjustment (on a hot day I often opt for Rolex); the crown digs in to the wrist (more than any Rolex); I’m kind of a bit tired of the fauxtina (too creamy?); the crystal gets smeary too easily (again more than my other watches); sharp edges- back of the lugs and also under the clasp, it’s not as smoothly finished as it could be. Interested to hear your thoughts on this. Nitpicking and I had to think hard to come up with these! Oh, and like you I couldn’t care less about the faux rivets! With regards to the watch sitting a bit high on your wrist, I noticed you have 4 links on one side and 6 on the other. Would 5&5 work better?
@nick-just
@nick-just Год назад
Agree with your thoughts about the rivets - the bracelet would otherwise be too plain. Would highly recommend you try the Uncle Seiko half link, for $29 you can't go wrong!

Thanks man! Yeah I might just do it, as mentioned Im in between the micro adjusts so I hope that fixes it.

nice review aussie. in addition to the uncle seiko half link, Steel reef also makes an easylink for it, for 5mm on the fly adjustment.

I like having a cheaper watch in the collection for the days where I don’t want to worry/care about knocking it. For me it’s the Seiko sumo, which wears a lot smaller than the dimensions suggest- I got the padi/Pepsi one in a strapcode jubilee and it’s an incredible watch for the money and I got lucky with the accuracy. The bb58 would likely be my daily wearer if I rebought it, it’s such a classic look and would compliment my Reverso duoface better, as sometimes the sumo feels a big different in weight to the JLC. But I’m waiting for the T fit clasp on the bb58 before I go back to it as my wrist changes quite a bit throughout the day. Great review and thanks for your time anyway 👍🏼

I think if buying new, yeah definitely wait for something to happen I think. the price increases have been brutal to this model. But if you can get one pre-owned, I wouldn't wait. for mid 2k, this thing is incredible. And on a smaller watch, the lack of on the fly adjustment isn't a BIG deal. You don't see people throwing away their Omegas.

Like you, I found the 2nd micro adjustment too tight and 3rd too lose after already removing 3 links. So, I removed another link totaling 4 links and moved to the 3rd micro adjust and it now fits perfectly. I didn’t think this would’ve made a difference, but it worked out. Try it, I think you will have a perfect fit.

It seems like nobody scratches the hardened inserts. I've had my BB54 for about a month, and already amassed a lot of scratches on the case, caseback, bracelet, and clasp. But because the watch is heavily vintage in appearance, the wear and tear only adds to its charm and vintage looks. Man do I love Tudor's 60 click bezels; now prefer them on traditional industry standard 120 clicks.
@aussieexpatwatches
@aussieexpatwatches 10 месяцев назад
Right! I've also rarely seen the bezel scratched on many second hand pieces. And the bezel action is incredible. I recently got to see all of the new Omega Seamasters for their anniversary, and all the bezels are junk feeling compared to the bb58.

i would still make the case for cheaper watches being worthwhile in a collaction, alongside a nicer watch. I have seikos that still get wrist time despite having rolex and cartier. Servicing costs shouldnt matter as they are a sunk cost anyway, no matter the percentage value of the watch. (the servicing cost part that would matter is how many mechanical watches you have overall). Most of these cheaper watches has seiko movements or sellita/eta so its easy to replace or service as well. But as an heirloom piece, i get what your saying, the tudor is sort of a minimum bar for heirloom. I gt a lot of enjoyment out of loving my cheaper watches and i see you have that as well with the tudor, its awesome

Contrarian viewpoint; i actually like the rivets. I think they look interesting, they are a nod to the vintage styling ques and besides the watch is a piece of art as well as serving a function. Many watches have faux screws in the bezels or a 600m water resistance, which id argue is just as useless as a few nobs on the bracelet!

I like the rivets too. It would be too boring and without soul without.

How scratch resistant is the bezel? Every aluminium bezel watch I've ever owned has been scratched to heck.

I used to be a watch collector. I still follow watches and brows the new pieces but, I bought this watch 3 years ago and haven't bought another watch since. I know I won't wear another watch as much as I will wear this one. Turns out, this is my grail watch. 😆
