fun fact. this eurovision final was on may 16th and norway's national day is may 17th. when norway had won it was already after midnight so norway won eurovision on its "birthday" hahaha
I remember this show so well! The Norwegian commentator was hyperventilating when Rybak won, telling the whole nation on live television how she had stuffed her bra with paper because she would hopefully meet him. And then there being total chaos at the airport the day after since Rybak told everyone to meet him there.
I'm gonna be real honest, I adore Alexander but I wish he didn't came back to ESC this year. I think I would've liked for him to remain the one, the only, you know? Cause, like, no song can ever beat Fairytale? No matter how good, Fairytale is so iconic for this generation of eurovision.
I get what you mean. Especially considering how one note and repetetive "That's how you write a song" was. I wouldn't have minded Alexander coming back with a new song if he came back with a good song that has progression and build up instead of a continuous relaxed beat that never changes except for a violin solo that lasts for 4 seconds. But, he was still way better than Israel anyway. No idea how they won.
YES I really miss his folk songs with unique fiddle tunes and european melodies and stuff. This year every song was similar to each other, no indication of culture. I hope he launches songs like he used to. They were amazing.
Belarus gave 12 points to Alexander. He was born in Belarus. Belgium gave 12 points to Hadise. She was born in Belgium. Don't get me wrong o love both😻😻
@@twilightbm374 I have no idea what I wrote back then (I deleted it like an idiot last year), but I just wanna say that I probably wrote something like “he’s from white Russia”. I know that sounds hella stupid, but it’s bc it’s called “Hviterussland” in Norway which is directly translated to White Russia (I wasn’t that good at English back then)Idk why I felt the need to say that now, but yeah lmao
Serously? Did you even watch the russian propaganda show of 2009? And what about the situation with Georgia? This was definatly a year with politic influence!
Lol, why do you think Rybak got so many high points from eastern europe? Because he's from Belarus, that's why. That year was just as political as any other year, if not more. And Putin was rubbing his hands with joy 😂😂
It makes me laugh when people blame politics just because their countries don't do well. If you want real political voting, take a look at the contests for most of the 2000s, it was ridiculous.
I laughed so hard when Graham was complaining about getting 6 points, and then said "last year we would have been thrilled with 6 points, now I'm moaning" xD
Ok..here is my top 5 list: 1. NORGE 2. NORWAY 3 ALEXANDER RYBAK❤️❤️ 4. CUTEST PERSON IVE EVER SEEN 5. BEST WINNER IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE HISTORY IN ESC❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This year restored my faith in Eurovision. Bringing the juries back was the best move the EBU had made for quite some time. It became an open game again - well, aside from Norway's runaway victory.
setheurovision94 no it's bad now. it's all about politics now when you look closely and the ESC becomes more and more irrelevant this way, just wait...most people have no interest in that. lol @ jury. 4 people music taste important as of millions voters xD that's so funny.
The all-televote results had become so riddled with block voting and neighbor appreciation (especially Eastern Europe) that they had lost their relevance. THAT was politics. Of course they had to balance it out (besides there is not a single competition in any field that does not have judges of some sort). And the Eurovision has never been more popular than it has become in the last decade - after the juries had been brought back. And it's 5 people on a jury, actually.
The whole point in the Eurovision is to put in upcoming artists, not famous ones. Tactical country voting will damage a famous singers career if they don't win
Exactly. The UK have only themselves to blame for most of their horrible Eurovision results in recent years. No, there is no political voting against you, and no, there is no anti-Brexit backlash against you. You get bad results because, compared to most other countries, you consistently send bad songs. And that is the truth whether you want to realize it or not...
This is my top 10: 10 - Bosnia and Herzegovina9 - UK 8 - Ukraine7 - Estonia6 - Germany5 - Armenia4 - Turkey3 - Norway2 - IcelandAnd my winner is ..... Azerbaijan
I'm not a fan of Turkey (I maen politcs), but this time I think that Hadise deserved a bit more, maybe the 2nd place: even if Azerbaijan's song is very beautiful, I think that Dum Tek Tek has a bit more of traditional musical influence which makes the song more special and enjoyable to listen to.
Somehow the comentator made me sit in anticipation hoping for UK to get point every time even when I know that Norway wins. I have no idea who he is, but he seem like a cool dude.
Memories for me my first ever eurovision I didn't watch the performances I watched the voting and found it really fun that I had then watch eurovision the whole thing through in 2010
My top list from the Netherlands: 1-Turkey (Düm Tek Tek is my all time fav song) 2-Azerbaijan 3-Armenia 4-Estonia 5-Iceland 6-Norway ( All those above 6 could be the winner can not pick a definete one besides Düm Tek Tek 😅) 7-Spain 8-Albania 9-Moldova 10-Romania 11-Russia 12-Greece 13-Ukraine 14-Croatia Obviously this is by far the best Eurovision Year Ever love all the other songs as well
norway already won after Estonia (30th of 42 countrys) have given away their points. Norway had a 148 point lead and Azerbaijan only could've got 132 points at that point. Imagine knowing you won even though a quarter of the voting still has to take place
21:06 "What I can't believe is, we gave 7 to Germany. What were you thinking, people?" I'd love to know what his reaction was when he learned the UK jury gave its 12 points to Germany. XD
Here are my personal votes/rankings, i'am from the Netherlands 12 points: Norway - Alexander Rybak - Fairytale 10 points: United Kingdom - Jade Ewen - It's my time 8 points: France - Patricia Kaas - Et s'il fallait le faire 7 points: Greece - Sakis Rouvas - This is our night 6 points: Denmark - Niels Brinck - Believe again 5 points: Spain - Soraya Arnelas - La noche es para mi 4 points: Iceland - Yohanna - is it true 3 points: Lithuania - Sasha Son - Love 2 points: Israël - Noa & Mira Awad - There must be another way 1 point : Malta - Chiara - What if we
"What I can't believe we gave 7 points to Germany" "What were we thinking people?" I came to watch Alexander win, and I stayed watching the entire thing because of the Graham Norton's excellent commentary.
I don't think i've related to a comment more than this. Came to watch Alexander win cuz hes such a likeable guy and stayed because Graham just kept me entertained throughout the whole thing.
