God, UGH. What a supreme sounding ensemble. Sizzling trumpets, glassy vibes, tight rhythm section, PHAT bones and lush saxes. This is it. This is the Big Band sound. Absolute earcandy and a perfect love letter to the big bands of years gone by. AND NOT TO MENTION THE FLOOG SOLOIST'S GORGEOUS PHRASING AND TONE! AND THE ARRANGEMENT!!! I'm in heaven.

It's beautiful not to find any dickheads quoting Whiplash here... Many people say they've been introduced to jazz by that film, but still, they only listen to the songs featured on the film AND FLOOD THE WEB WITH THEIR QUOTES

+Davide Mura To be honest the drumming in it is not all that great the only redeeming quality was basing the director on Buddy Rich to show people the way he ran his band.

NYJO: Nice professional sound; in fact, impressive. But why just one woman? Joan Chamorro puts the organizers of this band to shame. I cannot believe that Spain has a monopoly of all the good, young female jazz musicians.

The day we stop focusing on age, race, sex, etc. is the day we can truly just enjoy life in peace... This is in London (white people) and although yes it would've been nice to have more gender diversity, sometimes auditions, meetings, or connections doesn't always happen exactly the way we want it.
