This was a great show in it's day. But to be fair these people probably aren't as rife nowadays, as anyone with common sense checks reviews first. Even 1 bad one against 100 good and I'm skeptical! 😂
The bosses canned it because of lawsuits. People featured on the show were sending lawyer threats to cease and desist saying their segments were heavily edited to make them look bad and did not tell the full story. They also weren't happy with the level of danger the team and the conmen were put in, like blocking their cars and making them drive erratically or run into traffic. They thought it was just not worth risking a death or serious injury, that would mean losing their jobs and millions in wrongful death suits.
It's TV and all the TV does is chase ratings and Lie to you so it's more than likely true the full story's were not told anyone in that industry & journalism is a rat & no I am not a tradesman I work for EE that's just the facts of it
My God! £645 quid instead of the original charge of just £30. Keith, my lad, how's that possible? In all conscience now, come on, it's bad enough to do this to anybody but an elderly person? You are beneath contempt.

@@MrDickBills she was though. She should have let the scene play out. Instead she deprived millions of viewers of wholesome family entertainment. Scumbag move.
Pretty sure almost plowing someone down with your car door is illegal. Even if someone is stood in your way, you can’t just use your car to force them out of the way. Keith is very lucky he didn’t knock him down.
8:50 That reaction when he heard him say "Hello Keith, Matt Alwright Rogue Traders" on the TV lol. He was thinking "Is he talking about me" and then his face dropped, LMFAO Muppet!
When I moved into my house in Maidstone 12 years ago, the previous owners had been exclusively using cable TV but we wanted to go back to the good old fashioned aerial. Digital was just becoming important at the time (the analogue signal still worked at that point) so I went to a local TV shop that specialises in fitting aerials, to find out what I needed to do so we'd be digital-ready. Even without coming round and looking at it, they told me the signal is weak in our area and that we'd need a 'digital cable' and aerial installed, cost £100. What to do? I went to B&Q, bought the biggest aerial booster they had which was about £20 and ran two televisions off the old cable and aerial system (one in the living room, one in our bedroom). It's worked perfectly ever since. Fitting aerials is just like so many other trades - most practitioners don't go to anything like the lengths of these guys to rip you off, but they will find ways of upsizing the job to take more cash off you.
As an aerial installer i can tell you there is no such thing as a digital aerial, any aerial as long as it's in good condition, correctly installed can receive both analogue (gone now) or digital signals just as well. It was a big selling point when digital TV came along that you needed a digital aerial which was pure rubbish!
I LOVE this program. I'm an electrician by trade and the way I see it - tradesmen can earn a perfectly decent honest living and become very successful. Its wankers like these that let us down and give us all a bad name
This scene is too close to home for me. A good two hour walk from my house. 8:52 Look how his smile turns to a frown 9:19 Get Outta Ma Way!
I re installed one of his victims weeks before this episode was broadcast, so I rang the customers whilst the program was on to ask if the man on the program was the one who 'did' them because they had exactly the same trick as this played on them. When I eventually got through (their line was engaged due to all their friends ringing to tell them to put the telly on) & yes he was the rogue who twisted the old & new coax together & hid it under a roof tile quality! I last saw him in Evington.
yeah, I would gladly volunteer for that kind of a role. Being a victim of it aswell, I was also charged £350 for job that would have actually only cost £50 at most.
I've seen something like this is real life. A person I had known for over twenty years turned out to be ripping off members of his church. When he was caught, he just ran and kept running. That head down/don't say a word and just run scene bought back some memories.
The circus was so much fun and I had to go to the movies and I saw a lot of people who had a lot of fun and I had to go to get a full time job and I then had to go to the store and I then go to the store and I then go to the store.
As cunning as a fox, smellier than a rat. How can such people live with themselves? sadly, I bet this kind of thing goes off all the time. hope they got their comeuppance. Scumbags.
At the end it looked like he tried to run him over - Surely if you just wanted to get away you'd drive forwards, moving the door away from him, not backwards and ram him with it!!!
Keith mentioned something he'd seen outside on his way in, but the old lady just wanted him to concentrate on what was on the TV. Now we'll never know what Keith had spotted!
9:53 "Seems like, uh, it gave him wings!" Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I've heard some JACKANORY'S in my time, but Dad and Son really take the BISCUIT !!! Time to bring out the Lie Detector. No wonder he legged it El-Quicko. I've never seen such a Quick Exit before on Rogue Traders. Well Done, Matt - you're aw'wight.
156 old woman: I need a new ariel... Keith: Well seen as though the Red Bull is flooding your Damp Course I will have to put you in a new chimney and Tarmac your drive for £965,456.00
I've seen poorly installed cable work and holes drilled into the out side walls that are far to wide for the cable and just left as is. Plus bits of isolation tape used to join two aerial poles together.. Words fail me!
Love this, We moved from Northants to East Kent 20 years ago and the scam shown is endemic. We had our Sky dish re installed but something was not right and there was no signal at the TV end. Sky sent out their "specialists" They quckliy told me that the LNB???was blown on the aerial and it would cost £100 for a new one for cash. I was away when this happened and arrived just as the Sky speciaists were "fitting" a new LNB???? I climbed up onto the flt roof where the antenna was and asked to see what was happening. Alas these stupid buggers tried to bullshit me. There was no new LNA, the old one was there, the Aerial was offset and just neede to be aligned which I did right there. You see, I am a RF and Microwave Ceng, MIEEE. They picked the worng Marine to fuck with. One phone call and they were sacked. These idits should be careful, there is always someone who knows more than they
I've seen something simular. When I was younger my parents got a new house, it was empty so I moved in the day before the actual move date. Each bedroom had a TV point which worked fine. My dad asked someone he knew through work to come and install Sky and asked at time if it would be possible to hook up each bedroom to the main aerial. After the guy finished up configuring the Sky dish he said he could do the additional TV's in the house but will have to do it another time. Afterwhich I noticed the TV I had in my bedroom that worked fine before now didn't. I went in the loft to find he had unplugged all the TV's from the booster. Some people are just fucking cunts.
Andrew, indeeed they are. Greed and ignorance. I love it when we get these "so called" TV engineers and aerial specialists" They always, always try to bullshit! I was a radio ham when I was 13 and have spent my life in RF and Microwave technology so I love to fuck them over with questions. Childish I know but it pulls them up with a big full stop and gives me loads of fun. 1 over 2 pie root LC!!
Thats changed now as most tv channels except bbc of course allows product placment. bbc due to license fee which is paid by all tv owners cant allow product placement as the tax ensures fair bbc most of the time. more infor at www.ofcom.org.uk/tv-radio-and-on-demand/advice-for-consumers/television/product-placement-on-tv
I love how con men always play with the victim card the moment they are caught out, doesn't matter about the vulnerable people they rip off, just as long as they can cry wolf.
because then you wouldn't have a solid case in court. IF you didn't pay them and then busted them, then they would have gotten away scot free and gone on to con another person out of their hard earned money. By paying the cowboys the money, it shows that you have an actual contract (in terms) that if you took them to court, you could get them put in prison or sue them for more than what they charged you for!
So they can be watched scamming others.the more the merrier for the CPS to put them away for longer. One dodgy job they would got a slap on the wrist, but if they are hitting a lot of people = bigger sentence.
Full name and addresses should be available for these con men , otherwise they just go into hiding for a few months and re-invent themselves posing as some other kind of professional , well done Rogue Traders
Filth, scum vile humans. How DO they sleep at night? I’m fascinated by what most happen in someone’s childhood for them to have no conscience whatsoever when it comes to totally ripping someone off....especially an elderly person too??!! I REALLY hope that karma finds its way to Keith’s front door and does some damage to his life. Waste of space.
Just one question. The induced fault was snipping the coax at the back of the wall socket. What happened? That original fault was never addressed as it did not appear or shown and a new down lead was not installed, how come that was fixed?
