Much prefer how the news used to be read. Authoritative tone by the presenters and no back and forth between presenters and reporters. Radio 4 News is still like this.

The documentary looked behind the scenes at a full 24 hours of television covering BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and the satellite/cable channels. The documentary aired on November 1st 1989 and is available here on RU-vid. It was produced by Yorkshire Television.

@@wesleycracknell1623 i don't remember this set or theme of the 6pm news i do remember the virtual look in 93. Moira did present some bulletins i remember Anna presenting it as well. Phillip presented our regional news in North West Tonight in the early 90s (i don't remember him on there)
@@johnking5174Thanks for pointing this out, because it gives me an idea of what age I can remember. I was born in December 1986 but can vividly remember sitting on the carpet watching Neighbours with my sister and my dad would always walk in from work when the end credits were rolling. He would pick me up and sing "Neighbours, he's a little babby Neighbours". Then the titles of the Six O'clock News would start and I thought that the dark blue on top of the block of pages was a coffee stain, not knowing that it was a map of the world. The presenters was always Nicholas Witchell as I can remember. My parents didn't refurbish or redecorate our house for years after they bought it in 1987 from someone who'd lived there since the 1950s, so it was a mish-mash of styles from different eras.
Who else clicked on this video for the skull thumbnail in the news? I thought it was some kind of genocide in Africa or something, not this witchcraft nonsense!
