Jae White It drives better because of better response and comfort is also better in daily use. I changed my opinion... and now I automatically prefer the look of these tires.

A well prepped ND is pretty insane. You can push the car hard on the street and makes a fantastic Autocross car. SCCA STR.

get the 2019 mx5 club edition version and get a good quality exhaust tuned and intake on it your it will make 200hp and the car being so light it will be one of the best car to drive on the road

@@Polyrytmi Drop in air filters don't do anything. Short ram intakes suck in hot air from the engine bay. You want gains, either you get a true cold air intake and take the risk of hydrolocking your engine, or you get an upgraded airbox.

​@@Polyrytmi BBR mx5 nd cold air intake and a drop in filter from K&N headers tuned and catback should get yout to 200hp on the new nd2 or you can spring for a bbr220 kit with springs and hot cams the car will make 220hp honestly that level of power is simply perfect for this car.

Hello! Sorry for asking but i just wanna know if the products from BBR are reliable. I havent tried any and i usually wait for Japanese brands instead. But ive heard BBR is really good when it comes to tuning miatas. A reply would be appreciated. Thank you!

A well tuned car and properly matched turbo can have no lag. MK7 GTI from the factory had smooth even power up to redline.

I'm thinking of the BBR star chip for my 1.5 that means 50/50 weight distribution still but with the 2.0 tickle As an add on BBR have just released a stage 1 turbo for the ND result 2.0 now does 0-60 5sec top speed limited to 155mph.

I own an exige s2 and a lotus Elise s1 , former owner of a Suzuki cappuccino too. The frame on the lotus is speechless but the car is to hard to be a daily drive. i often see at racetrack some mx5 nb/bc with some very cheap mod giving hard time at some Elise , the mx5 is and still be the best convertible sport car money can buy.

Stock it's nothing like an Elise, the motor (2.0L) doesn't like to rev, and the chassis is far away from an Elise.. (I drove the 2.0L ND Miata an Elise 111r (Toy) and an Exige Cup 260, and a Speedster 147, even the Speedster is better for the kart-like driving feel)

The shifter is a lot better than everything Lotus ever has bought somewhere and has forced into their cars. MX 5 ND has probably the best manual gearbox on earth. And the waterproof roof design. And the fuel consumption. And the working electrics.

Either the camera mount was floppy or BBR's setup is pretty hard and/or bouncy. The car looks a lot more nervous on rough tarmac than a stock version - even the one with the OEM Bilsteins. Great for a weekend/track-day toy, but I'm not sure I'd want that kind of setup in a daily driver.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to put a few links in the vid description for where to get these mods. Regardless, the mx5 as is, is a good car. You really don't need much more unless you're putting it on a track. The only thing I want is a tasteful rear spoiler for the rf version. There's nothing but overpriced garbage out there at the moment.

its not maxed out already. This was video is about an package from 165HP old engine. Witch revs 500 less. and has 20HP less. Newer Engine is same just built better and it is stronger then this tune. then plus add this on top. it becomes big difference, not little one.

@@lassydogpie5390 ND2 is not as its engine was rebuild a little in 2019 and now is making 20 factory more HP cuz of that. Its not same as what they used on video 165HP version of the car :P

I never understand that "not a sports car" thinking at all. I grew up with Austin-Healeys, Sprites, TRs, MGs (A & B), Alfas, Sunbeams and a few others, and all were called sports cars. Now i drive an MX-5 and it's as much fun as anything in the '60s, and certainly a sports car.

I have the NC with BBR super 200 and I love it. I've also had an Elise and yes very similar but much easier to live with. As for the £8000, you build it in affordable stages. I do wonder why it can't be termed a "sports car", that BBR ND will do 0-60 in about 5.6 sec's and out handle many more expensive cars.

Rather than that the MX5 is not a spor ts car, the reviewer probably should have said the MX5 is not a performance car. A car like an MX5 is definitely a sports car in the sense of how much it rewards and involves good driving skills.

people just dont get this car 200hp is alot of power for a car that weight around 1050kg most car even turbo hatchback are like 1500kg sure they get there 300hp and most likely will be able to beat or match this modded car in a drag race but under braking and cornering no chance

you know what drop the 2018 205 hp 86gt engine in to this car without increasing the weight of the whole car as a hole and you will have a winner and if you not content you can have a flash tuned and exhaust on the car just like this brb and you should make 220-225ps with a weight of 1050kg they will sell by the bucket load if that brb can make the sprint to 60 in 5.65 second a 225ps mx5 should do it in under 5 seconds and crack 155mph all this should be more then enough for the mx5 performance wise and you still get that cracking handling and engine response of a na engine if there a chassis that have any chance of getting the next generation of na engine pass emissions this is it

FA20 is higher on horses but its not much different than the current 2.0 nd engine. Also it has a torque dip and boxer is such a bitch to work on. They should ask honda for help lol.

yeah your rite the f20c from the s2k should do the trick 240hp on a 1000kg car would be the bomb buts its quite hard to get a engine like the f20c to pass modern emission but the boxer do have an advantage its has lower center of gravity don't suffer to much from motor oil starvation from high g forces since the engine is flat ensuring more efficiency what im trying to say is mazda could just drop in the fa20 by forming a toyota partnership and have it sold and road legal without to much work or effort but an engine like the fc20 would have to be quite expensive to develop and build if you want to retain its power figure and have pass current fuel and emission regulation fa20 would have been a better pick for production reason but if i were to mod i would swap a f20c engine into it

That gt86 engine is garbage should never of been put into the car in that state why you think a stock mx5 beats it in a drag run easily and even manages to beat it on a track not by much. I owed a gt86 and while the stearing/turn in is fantastic and the stock ride set up is more planted feel. When I drove the mk5 nd I was sold the engine power delivery is so much sweeter you always have power no matter were you are in the rev range. I will admit I like a bit less body roll but just because it doesn't make car feel as planned on 1st turn in but once you get used to it you just grip and go mx5 as standard beats or matches the gt86 in every way in most cases beats it and the mx5 engine is much more turning possibles I now have the mx5 and its one the, purest and fun cars I've ever owed with bags of, potential

Always like the idea of a NA BBR conversion MX5, has s lot going for it. But looking at used cars for 1/2 or 1/3 the price would get you in an S2000 (240hp stock) or a Porsche Boxster- maybe a super 200 NC mx5 put together for £10k might be a good price point?

0-60 has dropped from 7.3 seconds to 5.65. You can view the 0-60 tests on BBR's RU-vid page, it'd take craps all over a stock one.

FrostyCoug The dyno shows its making more torque everywhere from 2k to 7k+ compared to stock. Look at their fb or the pdf on the product page. Vvt/L helps a lot.

This tune is for the ND1(2015-18) which brings it to the power level of the ND2 revised engine you have.

I tested the mx-5 stock on the Nürburgring and got a 09:01 (Forza 7). Then I modified it as a Super 200 (Sport air intake, upgraded manifold, upgraded exhaust, upgraded camshaft, which gives me 209hp), I put short springs and that's it. After the upgrades, I got a 08:26. Those numbers are not big numbers but even on the game the car changes so much ! So if you wanted approximative lap times, here there are !

The thing is....Forza like many other "sim" games are more like simcade. This is done to balance frustration and fun. Why else did the simulator genre die out and is only a niche product by now? They were too complicated and with the next generation not willing to invest any time reading an encyclopedia to learn how to play a game you understand why. Don't get me wrong the game looks stunning and i would probably be playing it if i was still into racing games.

Hello Made in Machines, I've got Super 200+ (214bhp ND1 2017) , and, the last weekend, I tried with and ND2 182bhp. At first, both are slightly equals, but throught the time, the ND1 super 200+ pass the ND2 slowly, one car, then two cars, and last, three cars. proof of concept: i. 60km/h -> 200km/hr ii. 80 -> 200 iii. 100 -> 200 iv. 120 -> 200 In all cases ND1 Super 200 beats ND2 stock. 15 years ago, régulations were easier to meet. I have no doubt the P5-VPR could achieve this kind of specific power (180hp) without much modifications (already comes with a fully balanced forged crankshaft). E85 and specific cams should be enough, at the cost of frequent tank refills. There's really nothing special about these "early" Honda engines, they mostly used what they had to use on their motorbikes engines.

It was great but it had no torque. You had to rev the nuts out of it to reach the horsepower. Most people that want a fun and spirited daily driver don't want to have to keep above 6000rpm permanently.

Edgar Mondragón its the BBR GTI super sport exhaust. But notice there is also center section, manifold, camshaft that have been modified. You won't get that sound just with the rear exhaust

30k on the second hand market buys a lot of car....I bought a 5year old SLK55 AMG with 14k on the clock...big v8, German engineering and 356bhp and bucket loads of torque....I have owned two mx5's and my wife currently drives one, that is an awful lot of money to make your mx5 have some sort of performance. Plus mx5 owners want to see an MPS version of the mx5!

Consumables on the SLK55 are a lot more than that of the MX5. Also, the MX5 teaches you how to become a better driver too.

Im not 100% convinced that the extra cost is justified by the increased performance. The MX-5 has an earthy feel about it to begin with and its perfectly balanced out of the factory. For me, Ill choose no tuning. Great video though!

Brakes need to be improved and the rev limiter has to vanish. Playing on the intake and exhaust of a skyactiv high compression ratio engine- maybe not a good idea... Hotter cams- why not . But that will give another 5 HP max . The MX 5 has already VVT. They have something done on the german spec ND 2,0 it sounds differently and they state 160 PS / 200 Nm / 215 KM /h top speed. Needs 98 octane fuel. Seems olso to have a stiffer suspension ( Bilstein ) with less body roll.

Ok so money no barrier I'd love the 2019 MX-5 , soft top, with all the toys. Then yes equip it with all the lightweight bits and bobs, upgraded brakes , lightweight wheels with sticky tyres etc. But chuck the standard engine and drop in the N/A 3.2 litre 6 cylinder 355BHP engine from the E46 M3 CSL. That would be fucking stunning. Think of the noise. The N/A response and big revs. 355 bhp in a car that's around 200kg lighter than the car the engine came from. Yes please! Right I need to buy a lottery ticket.

what in the world are you raving on about? Bastardazing the best of M3 to screw with miatas weight distribution? Also, I really doubt it will fit without major bodywork as S54 is a really large unit and ND bonnet isn't all that tall... Just stick supercharger and exhaust onto 2.0 and be done with it...

For the money you could have a bare-bones Cayman or Boxter. Also, as the owner of an MX-5, ('04 Mazdaspeed,) who has driven a Cayman on the track, I'll take the Miata any day.

The Cayman seemed heavy and clunky compared to the light, nimble little '97 NA Miata I owned at the time. At my home track, Lime Rock Park, a short road track with more curve than straight, in the IMSA ST class, Miatas often beat the Caymans, Boxsters, and 3 series Beemers. Not so at the bigger road courses like Road America or Leguna Seca. I'm sure if I had had more time with the Cayman. it would have grown on me. If I ever get to a point where I can own a roadster and a coupe, the Cayman S would be my roadster choice. BTW, I am not a racer, I spend my quality driving time on twisty, hilly New England back roads, (very few cops,) at speeds between 40 and 80 mph. On these roads, even a 911 would have a hard time getting much over 90 or 100 mph on some of the ridge top straights.

This car, 1 ton 50-50 weight, and 220HP and u need turbo ??? Or never one with stronger engine and higher rev limiter and this mods. Why u need turbo :P For German highways only :P But still even if u need more, Supercharger, would be much better. with high revving engines. Would still retain Note on Exhaust, not like with turbos. Also throttle Control is better.

Then even more so the Miata is the better choice. Modern car with modern tech features, nicer interior, more forgiving handling, and again midrange torque is what you can use all the time in street driving. The S2000 is all about top end horsepower, so you need more room to rev it out and around town it feels way slower because the low-mid range is dead. Also the S2000 is known for being more snappy when it loses grip, so unless you've really mastered the car you're gonna have less confidence pushing its limits.

I just bought an S2000 and thats what my goal is. Updated stereo, tech, creature comforts and small subtle upgrades to make it a better all rounder car. I'm positive that I will still be spending less in total than a brand new Miata

Dunno about where you live, but I did own a S2000 for 7 years, and it was an amazing bullet-proof car, but I sold it for almost the same as I bought it - after 7 years and heaps of km. Looking at listings, the S2k is now much much more expensive. But that is here in Japan, so I do not know about where you live

@@sonicsabbath It's the same state side. I bought an ap1 about 7 years ago and now it's worth almost double of what I paid after putting 40k miles on it. There is a reason why prices are going up and Miata prices go down. Driving dynamics, the marvelous f20/22c engine, and exclusivity.

These tuned cars will shake your teeth out.. Get the new 180hp mx5 on non Bilstein standard suspension. Also that exhaust would drive me nuts after 30 mns.

I would prefer a "flyin_miata" in keeping with sort of a poor man's AC cobra concept. "Flyin_Miata" is based in Colorado in America. No turbo. Just a light weight push rod 6.2 liter GM v8 shoehorned into a miata. Buy the miata pay an extra 75k US$ and you an innocuous look Mazda roadster that still retains its balance weighs 2700 lbs and has the roar,the thunder ,the beastly growl of American V8.

@@GURken Haha. Pile of rust? I don't think I've ever seen an S2 with any rust on it. And here's a thought for you: my first car was a mk1 Mx-5, which was fun. It was also extremely slow and died because of excessive rust to the bodywork and subframe. More recently I've had an S2000 (12 years old), which is still faster than the latest Mx-5, looks great and certainly isn't falling apart due to corrosion. So I'm speaking with ownership experience of both cars when I make the assertion that an S2 is and will always be a superior car and better value (frankly, irrespective of price).

Fizzy Elf the boxer engine is crap , so mx5 wins if you turbo it. Alot of people I know fucked their boxer engine because that crappy engine couldn't handle the turbo.
