At 6h am on November 17th 2021 fire broke out at an RV lot in Abbotsford, Canada. Due to extreme water levels in the recent floodings, firefighters were blocked from access. The fire that started in the early morning hours spread uncontrollably to hundreds of parked recreational vehicles. The lot located at the corner of Highway 1 and Sumas Mountain Road was partially flooded while the highway was completely submerged from water overflo. Crews battled the challenging blaze in treatcherous conditions and used ladders to allow crossing over flooded areas and ditches. Early morning images filmed from higher up on the nearby Sumas Mountain show an incredible sight of devastation. Aerial imagery show an appocalyptic scene where fire burns in the middle of surrounding water. Toxic smoke drifted in the north western direction where residents were told to shut windows and no injuries were reported.

There was a whole lot of pick up trucks alone that were burned and that was about where it started. (you can see some red paint on one) They had camper vans, trailers and motorhomes too as shown. The big motorhomes were the last to burn, I watched it live online from some helicopters views with great cameras. Some insurance policies would likely say since the flood damaged them first they were therefore worthless before they burnt. Its gonna take awhile to figure it out for sure.
@Fordluv

@@kornpops1261 They also rented some units out and had many trucks there, that was about where the fire started. Trucks were furthest back from the buildings and along the side. I saw live chopper view near the beginning of h fire. Terrible for sure.

Most buyers are corralled into tract homes these days... real estate lot sizes are getting smaller and smaller as demand increases and sellers find creative ways to subdivide their properties into higher profits per parcel to subdivision developers with master plan communities. There's definitely gonna be an investigation as far I know there was no lighting that happened the night of the fire. Unless one of the powerlines above the RV's fell and caught fire?? Otherwise it's surrounded by water how can a fire start when the property didn't flood ??
@Chris-jv7im
@Chris-jv7im 2 года назад
There are a ton of factors that could have led to the fire. Most obviously, vehicles and especially RVs are highly flammable due to all of the petrol products inside and underneath. Gas tanks, propane tanks, and lots of carpet, tires, and plywood. Anything from an electrical short that sent sparks out to an employee that smoked outside and the wind blew the butt to a puddle of dripping oil underneath one of them. Engines or brakes overheating, etc. Vehicles catch on fire constantly and rarely go out on their own. I doubt they'll find anything in the investigation, I'd be surprised if they even find the point of origin. Fire investigators can do amazing things, but that fire burned too intensely for too long to be able to pull key details like from what's left.

To all those saying it is a bit suspicious. ou can bet with this much damage,, and despite it being difficult always to find the start, they will put some extra time in this one to find out. This is a big hit to any insurance company, and it will raise insurance for many businesses with similar types of vehicles, etc. If the business had no flood insurance because it cost too much in that area given it has had flooding in the past, and magically a fire went through and they have fire insurance you can bet the investigation will go very deep to try to find out what happened. However, whatever the truth is I hope that comes out, that's all. No matter what it is. I would feel sorry for them if say they have fire insurance but some technical reason the insurance company gets out of paying. Like say by parking the vehicles that close together they broke some fire code and thus are not covered, or the flood was deemed the ultimate 'reason' for the start of the fire so it is considered 'flood' damage and thus not covered, etc. I sure hope that if this was a legit fire, which for all I can see so far there is no reason to believe it wasn't, and if that is the case I sure hope for the businesses's sake, and for all the people who rely on that business for income, side businesses, sake, that they don't get screwed over on the insurance contract's minutia... I can tell you this, if that was my business I would be having a heart attack in waiting to find out if it is covered or not. Feel sorry for the guy/family just for that level of stress, but hope everything was on the up and up for everyone's sake, and if that is true then they also get paid out....
@slicksnewonenow
@slicksnewonenow 2 года назад
@The Journey OF COURSE the insurance company will try to screw them... It's the way they operate. But it does smell fishy to begin with. RVs, especially new ones, do burn up pretty quickly... But not THAT quick. It's surprising that nobody in the vicinity noticed something on fire sooner.
@Arrogan28
@Arrogan28 2 года назад
@@slicksnewonenow Well there was a flood happening. I think someone likely tried to get emergency and either didn’t get through or it was deemed not as important as life saving situations which no douby had been happening non-stop before this caught fire. I agree it looks suspicious though. If they had a clause that didn’t cover ‘water damage including by flood’ but did did have fire coverage i would then double my suspicion. Having said that the cause seems totally plausible on face of it, whether it holds is totally different. I think until investigators have finished i like to presume people are telling the truth until there is real reason no to believe them or they have a history etc. So hoping it was on the up and up and that also if so that insurance covers it….

Just because they have insurance. Doesn't mean they're going to get a claim. And technically... If you check your insurance contract. They technically don't have to pay you. So... There's that. This is all new, because of Hurricane Katrina. The hurricane that bankrupted nine Insurance pools around Canada and the United States. 9 ... insurance companies, bankrupted. With one, hurricane. What does that tell you about the insurance industry? If it tells you that mathematically, insurance is a fraud. You would be correct.

Kinda curious as to why the surrounding buildings and lots, parcels of land butting up to this one had absolutely no damage. The Damage was solely concentrated and focused on only this parcel. And for several units to be in almost complete ashes, the fires were much more intense than any normal fires. Looks familiar to the arson fires in California, Washington and Oregon early 2020 during the mass rash of "peaceful protests" where only certain targeted areas were burnt, incinerated, while lush green trees and grass surrounded the immediate area. Looks too suspicious for me, sorry but not sorry for having my own free will opinion.

I feel awful for this business owner, but it also does bring into light how cheap a lot of these RV's are built. I'm not speaking of them burning up, but rather how light weight and thin the metal is on the chasis for supporting the RV cabins
@algallego
@algallego 2 года назад
Yup, cheap indeed-- I remember staying at an RV "Glamping" resort once and nearly every step on one of those things was squeak and creak!!!! I suspect foul play here; just another RV dealer burning down his lot to collect on insurance because he can't sell those CRAPPY RVs in a waning market. Everyone knows there's a mass RV exodus underway-- at least, most should be aware of such by now. Besides, in today's market, how many can afford to buy an RV priced nearly as high as a house, but built like a tissue box!
