Bought myself a tracker 4 last season and I'm still haven't gotten over how "BIG"the window is, it's HUGE!!, I've tried working with other transceivers that have LCD DISPLAY and find it more difficult to work with because it's harder to read,I have to angle the unit just so to get a good vision on it,with LED no matter what angle the unit (T4)is at it's real easy to see even on a BRIGHT SUNNY DAY and if a person is using the tracker 4 at night time (avalanches do happen at night's also) you can imagine how easy it is to use,AT ANY ANGLE!! LED &HAVING A VERY LARGE WINDOW IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO!!!---Now as far as audio is concerned, don't be surprised that you have started a (another) avalanche.That's how good the audio is on the T4 along with the different tones I'd say it's the"BEST"AUDIO I'VE EVER HEARD IN"ANY DIGITAL AVALANCHE TRANSCEIVER".---The rubber mold grip going around the transceiver is the best invention I've ever seen and it makes it alot easier to turn,go to search, switch back to transmitt, everything and as far as signal supression, it's the BEST OF THE BEST IN THE BUSISNESS, you've got 1 minute or less to get to your next transceiver and if you get there before then you can turn it off (signal supression),other tranceiver brands you have to turn them completely off then back on in order to turn off the masking,flagging ect...,BCA TS,T3+&T4 YOU DON'T HAVE TO TURN OFF THE ENTIRE TRANSCEIVER IN ORDER TO TURN OFF THE"SIGNAL SUPRESSION".The range on mine is EXCELLENT, I've been able to pick up another transceiver at 57 meters away but if I were to pick up a signal between 50-55meters I'd still be happy,you have to have range,if you don't it can make thing's more confusing.All in all the tracker 4 is a incredible piece of engineering, IT'S THE BEST!
WOW! 1ST TIME I'VE HEARD THE T4,NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL AUDIO,NOT THAT I'M KNOCKING THE T1 OR T2 BUT ALSO EMPRESSED WITH THE BIGGER WINDOW DISPLAY.DOES IT COME WITH A USB POWER CORD THAT CAN BE HOOKED UP TO A LAPTOP COMPUTER?
I agree with you that an oval shaft on the shovel is nice, but almost every shovel has it, so I don’t think it needs to be emphasized very much. What I would like to see/hear is, does it have a hoe mode? Can the shaft be inserted either way up? How is it with mittens on? Thanks
No hoe mode Tj. The oval goes in, in both orientations. I don't use mittens for the most part. I would be looking for a D handle if that is usually what I wore.
Hello, I have a question about your experience with this probe. Since the locking mechanism is at the top of the second section (around 265 cm), do you find there are any problems with smoothness or ability to probe, when try to probe beyond that depth? Also are there any problems with accidental unlocking or other effects on the locking mechanism when plunging it in and out of the snow past that depth? Thanks!
Thanks for the question Tinu96 and sorry for the slow response. The locking mechanism is the reason this probe has become my favorite (I do not use that term lightly). It is not often I ask to keep test items, however in the case of this probe I did. I have yet to have the probe come unlocked other than intentionally. I have not probed deeper than a couple of meters (and I hope never to due to the amount of snow that would need to be shifted.) I would prefer a pole that is longer (3m or more) even though I hope to never have to use it. I particularly appreciate the lack of a cable at the end of the probe when it is locked.
