Nutn, a bit off the subject, but I think your audience would love to hear your take on the sad demise of Ontario Knives. Many of us bought Ontarios because of your reviews. Now that they are gone forever, it feels like a kick in the gut (but also lucky we bought them when we could). Thanks
61 years old. I ride all year round. Since I was 16. Only time I don't ride is when it is icy, Sierra Mountain range windy, or otherwise unsafe. Just gotta dress right. You have to keep your skills up. And you have to keep up your "6 senses" for staying alive around four wheeled vehicles! And jack ass drivers! Just like aviating and shooting. Motorcycling is a perishable skill! :) Jim Gillespie. Reno, NV
Same here. Been on two wheels since 16, now 24. Never wanted a car, probably never own one despite being more practical, especially in bad weather but always dress for the slide, not the ride. Although I’d like to think I’m rather experienced, using bikes constantly for work travel and pleasure I don’t class myself as an expert and everyday I might learn or find something new. Always ride in defence and look out for other idiots on the road. Mitigates you becoming your own threat.
Been commuting to work in the PNW cold rain out of necessity. It's doable, but it does suck. Decent rain gear is a must. Keep the rubber side down and safe travels.
Great video! I use a lot of the same gear. Another great cold weather tip for cold hands. Nitrile gloves underneath your moto gloves! Especially if you're in between seasons and you're wearing perf gloves, always keep a few pairs of nitrile gloves on the bike. Still maintains dexterity as well. Also a fan of the one piece moto rain suits (not frogg toggs). That paired with boot covers does a great job of keeping the rain out. Ride safe!
56. Some years after i got out of the infantry, my Harley was my only option to work and life, so i rode in the snow and ice... but today i ride year round as long as no ice. I plan on riding for decades.
All I do is ride. My wife has a car and I have a KLR. The only challenge is the weather here in Texas. Hot as it gets in summer, can get pretty cold in the winter and the storms are plenty in Spring and summer. I put 27000 miles on it last year rain or shine I'm riding.
I ride year round and nearly everyday. I don’t have expensive gear and just layer up. I’ve done 11 iron butts and my biggest run was 1650 in 24 hrs. My wife thought I was nuts when I came home all excited and made us omelets and pancakes, then I passed out. There’s nothing better than wind therapy
My coldest ride to date was a few weeks ago. About 1.5 hours in 19F weather near Denver, CO. My personal takeaway is that personally, for anything under 30F, I need heated gloves, and heated grips in addition would be optimal. I've tried insulated gloves up to 300 grams of Thinsulate, and they'll keep my hands from freezing for about 45 minutes, but the loss of dexterity is significant. The rest of my body stays pretty warm with my current layering system, but my hands suffer.
I've always ventured out in all weather even on my provisional learners licence in UK where it rains 95% of the time so we dont have a choice. I dont live in America where it is sunny most of the year.
I wear steel toe work boots when I ride. Because leather work boots work well for ridi g while leather riding boots suck for walking. Never know when hoofing it is going to be necessary on a ride lol.
Pro tip: If you're under the age of 57 and still want to attract females, then swap all highlighter yellow pieces for red ones. Excellent visibility with the added bonus of slight sex appeal. You're welcome. Tip #2: If you don't want or can't afford heated gear, just do a dozen burpees everytime you stop for gas. You're welcome.
I've ran my klr650 into mountains with snow a few times :) cold with no ice is fine but 110plus degrees no thanks hahaj. But I won't ride naked because of weather
I love the moto content Nutin’!! I was into bikes a long time before I got into guns but now I’m hooked on both!! I love your channel for the variety and the honest opinions you present. Keep up what you do from a long time TNP’r 🫡👍👍
