The interesting thing about this language is that for me it's always a suprise how it is pronounced compared to the written form,and that gives charm

It certainly helps make it what it is but it's only unusual for a speaker of Germanic languages like English. To me it's perfectly natural unlike the English word physical or phycology, what's that all about?

I have recently started studying Irish again after many many years, I started with Duolingo and took your advice on the Linn app which I find great for pronunciation, I have found that here are some differences in some words between these apps, is that simply different dialects? What is your opinion of Duolingo?
@LearnIrish
@LearnIrish Год назад
Yes often it's just down to a dialect, duolingo is great for testing the water and having a bit of fun but not much more than that.

Dia duit a chara, ag foghlaim Gaeilge ach Níl mo Ghaeilge go hiontach. And that’s as far as my Irish goes at the moment, right now I’m just writing a page in Irish every day and looking up the words I don’t know but I’m not seeing any progress. Do you have any tips on how to actually improve in and learn Irish? Go raibh maith agat.

Yes, try and focus on the Irish verb Bí and know the past present and future tenses, then go to verbal nouns. De réir a chéile a thógtar na caisleáin, Rome wasn't built in a day.

éist le raidió na Gaeltachta. Listen to RTE radio na gaeltachta. Más mian leat focal a aistriú If you want to translate a word, ansin é a dhéanamh, then do it. scríobh síos é, write it down. Labhair é, Speak it. ná bíodh eagla ort. Don't be afraid

One is done while the other is more of a general statement.

Are there books on Irish phonetics like a pronouncing dictionary? I don't too well distinguish speech sounds in my slightly flawed hearing.
