Yeah, they need to start making villain songs again pronto, that used to be the best thing about Disney films and they've nearly forgotten how to do them
I actually wouldn’t have minded the military style if it had, well, been good. The issue is that the “song” abruptly ends as soon as it seems like it’s building up to something.
It’s because In the original, scar was calling the hyenas dumb and retarded through must of the song, and since the live action version made the hyenas more menacing and less stupid, the song wouldn’t have made sense. That’s why the song came out they way it did
I love to hate him. He's so self-centered. If he just wanted to sit around barking orders, he could have done that from the get. He basically killed his brother for a title - in a more anthrpromorphic movie, it would be a placard. Let Mufasa rule the kingdom, and go around bossing the hyenas and bullying Zazu. Not to mention what he did to poor Simba, who loved him.
@@batfan1939 Actually, I loved him. He was one of the better Disney villains, and a lot of people liked him. He was one of my favourite characters in the Lion King, and many people will agree with me. Don't assume everyone is going to absolutely despise a character because you hate him. He was the best Disney villain I have ever seen, and still is to this day in my opinion
@@SpeedMotionSamic If it shouldn't be nazism or communism, than why the moon in the remake was there? It definetly looks like the symbol from the communist flag
To be fair, in the original they’re already his flunkies. In the remake, they’re a foreign power he’s just now going to, can’t just spend half the film insulting them. Still prefer the original.
They couldn’t have it the same. The is the original where the He is trying to explain the hyenas. But hyenas are very intelligent and more scary in the live action. They did have to change it. But that was a small mistake they did in the last one but still I love the original
@@aperson2628 Scar thinks he is above Mufasa, and every other animal. They still could have used the original lyrics since he believes the hyenas to be god knows how much beneath him when it comes to... everything!
This brilliantly showcases the dysfunctional relationship between Scar and the hyenas. They just want food much like in the 2019 film, but in the 1994 film he knows them and can go around ordering them as he likes. With this mix, it isn't much of him ordering them around it's just him telling them of his grand scheme where in the new film it's just....no idea what it is really. I see what they were trying to do as I do adore the more militaristic tone and instrumentation of the new film but eh.
As someone who likes the 2019 version, I must say, Disney, take points. Like seriously, either USE your budget which you make from your sequels and live action remakes for ACTUAL high quality, or just straight up hire this guy who clearly made this with 0 of a budget at all and just relied on talent.
I like this, but the thing is the devilishly playful tone of the original Be Prepared fits more with the personality of the original Scar. I feel like the new version perfectly gives emphasis on a different, more bitter and dark personality of this new version of Scar.
I thought the remake suited the new Scar too. The newer one was more serious and darker than the original and his version of Be Prepared had to reflect him. And if you think about it, the newer version was more of a rallying cry because of his relationship to the hyenas. In the remake, he didn't already know them personally like the original Scar did with the original hyena trio. He was trying to them get to join him.
The reason they cut most of the original song was because in the remake scar doesn't properly know the Hyenas so he can't go insulting them and go on about how much better he is (edit the Hyenas would've killed him if he insulted them in the movie they actually do threaten him until he starts singing so if he goes on and bags them they would not be willing to help him.
Still can be fixed with alternate lyrics "I've never thought Hyenas essential But you've proven your worth in the plain Plus you've got a lot of potential If aligned to my vision and brain" And that's just from the top of my head
Even though I miss the goose step I still really love the way the instrumental sounds, Jeremy irons and Jim Cummings voice as scar is perfect as always and the faster Rhythm is a welcoming sound.
Everything about this is flawless! ...Well, except the fact that the marching hyenas were excluded, since that's my favourite part of the song. But otherwise.. flawless! Perfect! Beautiful!
Because the Scar and Hyenas in the 2019 remake are alot different than the ones in 1992, Scar is far more sinister, and the hyenas aren’t with scar before the movie begins and they aren’t used for Slapstick anymore, so alot of the lyrics wouldn’t have worked again in the same way as in 1992
I would say this is better than the live action, but that wouldn't be giving you nearly enough credit. This is a masterpiece. I got goosebumps listening to it.
Gaming and Manchester united news I do respect opinions, but only the opinions I deem worthy of my respect. If there is something in a counterargument I deem flawed, I shall seize that opportunity to correct that person.
I love how this is so upbeat and energetic. This almost sounds like something out of a Super Smash Bros game, the way they remix songs from other games.
I downloaded the 2019 version and listened for the first time last night. Wasn't prepared for it to be Chiwetel Ejiofor reading lines to the tune of the original lol
Calling it now, this vid gets 1 million views, 1 million times worth of your effort put into this, 1 million times just as underrated this version and 1 million times better than a bunch of parrots standing around a rock repeatedly chanting: "be prepared, be prepared, be prepared, be prepared etc"
I loved the remake as its own movie, but I really missed this song, its my favourite Disney Villain song and was so disappointed in the new version. Love this!
I just found this tonight on my home page and I think I broke the replay button already lol x3; Seriously though out of all of the versions of this song that I've heard over the years this one has become my new favorite version! ^-^ THIS is the one Disney should have used for the remake-granted that one's grown on me overtime but still-I LOVE the energy this one has especially that key change near the end just adds the perfect touch! AMAZING JOB!! :3
Well yeah sure the original was absolutely perfect thanks to the legendary cast like the mastermind Jeremy Irons, but to be absolutely honest, I feel like keeping the original was not really suited for a live action CGI film. The dark tone this movie had just doesn’t suit well for this. But really, they could have used a remixed Be Prepared like this one but tweak a few of lines and I’m suited. They should have stick to Jeremy Irons or just cast Jim Cummings instead. I do appreciate Chiwetel Umeadi Ejiofor for trying his best to voice Scar and I was much more terrified with this one, I still do believe keeping the same mood swing like Scar would have been a lot better. So when you watch the Lion King remake and hope for the song to play, Be Prepared for a disappointing result.
It's a testament to old Disney that fans are willing to pour lovely effort like this into works inspired by the slosh modern Disney pumps out. I weep for Mulan and The Little Mermaid live action remakes, because Aladdin, Lion King and Beauty and the Beast have all been mediocre garbage. (Props to them getting the Jungle Book right though)
My god what a symphony, you don't have the version without scar's voice just with the instruments, honestly it was even better than the original and the 2019
Disney were too afraid to give their realistic, gritty villain a song to sing; somehow (and I can understand why) it dampens the toughness of his character to have him singing jauntily around about killing his brother. It makes sense for "Just Can't Wait to Be King" and "Hakuna Matata" to be sung as they are both happy songs by characters just excitedly claiming their feelings. But Scar in the realistic version they wanted would less likely sing and dance about what he wants; he would just plot and go and do it. That's why I feel they went for the less singy version. But at the same time - it's like they went half way there, if they're going to they might as well properly sing it, as what was delivered instead was neither gritty realism nor a great song - it was an awkward half-way. It should either have been cut altogether or this version made here or something similar.
Great work, though I don’t know why people dislike the one used in the remake. I loved it. It was dark, and it had the whole vibe of Scar rallying the hyenas, with him singing/talking/yelling and the hyenas raising their heads to him and following him curiously before crowding below him at the end. The remake was well-done, it made me properly believe that Scar was plotting to kill the king and unveiled the raw emotion behind the plot
Simply Disney ruined the song by often talking not really caught emotions by giving any dramatic sequences. No, the new disney didn't understand their previous original masterpieces all everything in original Lion King has ruined by the remakes becomes least emotional
as someone who actually did like what they did to Be Prepared in the remake (even though I still think it's the worst song in the remake), this is freaking *BONKERS*, and I'd love to hear the instrumental of this.
That shit just went on my playlist, and on my liked videos. From now on, this is the real 2019 version of B e Prepared, not that disgrace they had in the movie
You've done a great job man, it really satisfies me. The first song I heard the very minute after the Lion King 19 soundtrack released was Be Prepared, and I didn't listen to any other song because I was dissapointed. But before going to the movie I heared em all (Hans's) and felt awesome except for this.
Good job! And I think that even with the guy in the movie that actually played Scar it still would've sounded good, but maybe not as good as Jeremey Irons/Jim Cummings. At least that's my opinion.
