I love how it says be safe "for a moment", because these types of music make me think that I'm not finishing the game yet, just taking a pause from the hellish creatures that are behind the door where I came in.

Something about PS1 graphics have a very "handcrafted" charm to them. Like they look like papercraft dioramas that were made with dedication instead of skill.

Everyone writes about how this music enchants and calms them, but I will write that it puts me in some kind of trance, where I am alone with my thoughts and problems that I can't share with anyone because I don't want to be seen as weak. In the eyes of others, I appear much stronger than I actually am. I have many fears about the future, about my age, about what tomorrow will bring. I'm afraid of not finding myself in this world and constantly being in search. I'm sure I'm not the only one like this and I just want to wish you, the reader, to find happiness and peace in this cruel world.

He feels comfortable, apparently safe, however he knows that he must continue his search, and the calm of silence will be broken again... Nice theme 🌌

It's one of my childhood fantasies, every time my dad played RE or SH, to dream about a spooky sense of how it would be to be in a safe place when the world's ending and you don't know whether the end comes for you...

I sleep so well with this music from the first Silent Hill that I played at the age of 10. The first horror games mark you for life as if we could never really leave the game, a part of us remained stuck there forever...

Watching Harry Mason standing there has something so haunting about it. The best comparison I can give is watching a movie from the last century, where all the actors are no longer with us. To have this ability, to see a person from the past being alive, yet fully knowing that said person will perish on a known date... is just so eerie.

Many don’t even know you can step onto this bus. It’s parked right outside the elementary school. I believe there are two boxes of handgun ammo and a health drink, if I remember correctly.

Since I was a child I was fascinated by the idea of being in a mysterious place surrounded by hidden dangers in the form of strange creatures and suddenly finding a safe place where you know you can stay indefinetly, but at some point you will have to leave it to continue your path through the unknown... This scene and its music perfectly reflects that idea... 😯

Whenever I don't feel alive, yet I don't wish to die, I sometimes find myself listening to Silent Hill related Ambience to help calm my troubled mind. There are days where there are problems I cannot disclose, out of fear of judgement still. For me, Silent Hill's music felt more like an escapism, like a safe place, in some of my years, though nowadays I see why it feels like such for many others as well. While I may be stronger on the outside, I for one have quite the fears at times, like what's tomorrow going to bring? What about my age? What about my health? What about my future? As I continue to try to find myself in this unforgiving world, I do hope that the person who reads this finds nothing more but sincere happiness and absolute peace in their life, and wish said person well in their adventures on this ball of rock we call a planet.

I am glad I came across this channel. Your music captures the atmosphere and ambience that ooze out of every pore in older RE titles and Silent Hill games perfectly. This melancholic coldness, I can feel it in my chest, as if it's almost hollow. This stuff hits differently when you've been struggling with moderate to severe chronic depression for the past 10 years. The depression isn't always present, at least not actively or consciously, but it lingers in the background... at all times. And can hit you hard any day, you probably won't even see it coming. It's music like this that makes me feel eerily understood, and be it in a cold, sad, or melancholic way, it can calm down my hyperactive nervous system... There is a very certain kind of beauty in this melancholic vibe this video represents so accurately. EDIT: This ambient soundtrack also reminds me of the boat scene on the open empty lake in the woods in Cry of Fear if anyone can still recall this one. Also a damn fine game... :D

I need to be safe from life for a moment.

In 1999 I stole the case for the original Metal Gear Solid from a local store, which might sound stupid, because the game discs were only handed out after paying at the cash register. Why did I do it anyway? Because the demo disc for Silent Hill was already in there and I couldn't resist. I'm not sure if this was just the case here in Germany, but that demo "only" played the intro cinematic featuring that fantastic theme song - ON AUTOMATIC ENDLESS REPEAT - which was the absolute jackpot for me. That entire weekend I played Unreal Tournament (muted) with my Playstation running in the background. I am an absolute sucker for endless repitition (by the way I also suspect that I'm somewhere on the autistic spectrum), which is why I just clicked on replay for the 7th time in a row while keeping my head occupied from the darkest thoughts that tend to enter my brain when I'm not focused on something. I am struggling a lot right now and have been off and on since childhood. Over the last couple of years I disconnected myself from a lot of people, which is good in a way because of the previous toxicity, but also bad in a way because I yearn deep human connection, warmth and touch. At the same time I can't really stand or give what I desire the most around the few people I am still in contact with, for a plethora of reasons. There have been many (percieved) betrayals in my life that hurt me deeply. When my father moved out without telling my brother and me until that day, when my mother gave away our cats while I was on vacation, when my girlfriend left me in a very similar way my father had left many years before. Whenever life got too much for me I shut myself in as much as I could and nowadays I live like this most of the time. I used to love with all my heart, give whatever I could, help out whenever possible - a complete people pleaser basically. That fits most adult-diagnosed ADHDers, which I am as well, as I have learned over the last 6 years. Diagnosed in early 2018 and I just turned 38 last week. Getting medicated helped me stay away from smoking weed all day (which a lot of undiagnosed people with ADHD tend to do, as I've also learned) and I'm currently clean again for 1.5 years, the second-longst time since I started at 15 years old. With the help of stationary and ambulant psychotherapy I have come to understand a lot about myself, my family, relationship patterns, generational trauma and a lot of other interesting stuff. Yet I still feel so lost in this world, as was the case for most of my life since I can remember. Countless times I've been told to be either too much or not enough, which I thankfully don't believe anymore. As far as I know that's just how it is for people who are basically a neurotypical person on amphetamines when they don't take amphetamines. In daily life I find it very difficult to be around other people, mostly because of different perceptions of the surroundings and such. People often don't believe me when I talk about a situation that they have also witnessed, because apparently they see and hear the world differently. I used to work with children for some time and when I enter a room with 25 of them I know (or feel, rather) almost instantly in what mood the kids are individually and as a group. Same with classmates, colleagues, customers, parties etc. But, or because of that, for the life of me I can't concentrate fully on one or just a couple of them in a room full of people. For others it's the other way around. I always felt that way, back in school, at all the different jobs I've worked at, in most social settings that require talking when it's noisy around. Today I find all of this exhausting. Daily life, my inner thoughts, contact with people, my inability for stimulus selection, missing the numbness of being stoned while also not wanting to be stoned anymore. Recently, I find almost everything exhausting. As much as I wish for it from time to time, I am actually thankful that there is no "Press here to end own existence immediately"-button available to me, because I don't think I could resist it. Videos and ambient music like this help me feel soothed and safe for a moment. Thank you very much for this, dear person behind Midwitch Music, it is much appreciated. Reading the comments also makes me feel... all kinds of things, but mostly in a good way. That's why I felt compelled to write a little something myself. If my fingers could keep up with my thoughts I would have written half a book and told a significant amount of my lifestory, but that would probably be overkill anyway. If anybody reads this: keep your head up, stranger on the internet! The best is (hopefully) yet to come.

I've played SH1 multiple times over the years but never knew you could go inside the schoolbus! I saw the thumbnail and didn't recognize the location, so I had to click it. I swear, this game keeps on giving.
