God not only encourages his people to be fearless, he commands it. God is most glorified in us, when we are most dependent on his strength, not our own. Find the full resource at www.desiringgod....
I do not know of a another public pastor as bible driven and profound as John Piper. John, I pray that the Lord will continue to bless and keep you, your generation included.
In Sunday school they taught us song a that led us to believe 'we are weak but he is strong'. Jesus was supposed to be strong for me. That's where all the hurt and disappointment comes from: unmet expectations that stem from indoctrination.
Thank you, Lord! This is exactly what I needed to hear right now. You are so gracious and loving!! Thank you for the people You use. May we all bring You glory all our lives!! xx
When God said, Have I not commanded you, it is not commandments to be strong and courageous. But God saying Have "I" not commanded you to go face the enemy's army. And so don't be afraid. This is how I read it even now.
I love this kind of videos. He seems so sweet, loving, caring and passionate. I'd love to meet him in face to thank him for obeying God, cause through his obedience me, and so many people are blessed and encouraged. Thank you pastor John! You may not know it but God used you in my darkest period to help me see and come out in the light!
It is impossible to be strong. Even in the strength of the Lord. God must do the work and get the credit, per Joshua 5. God gave him an impossible task to take Jericho. God supplied more than courage. God gave his own solution, and did not take sides.
"there is a kind of cowardice that tells only the truths that are safe to tell." -John Piper 1999. thoughts on red hats, orange saviors, and Mt 7:22 and beyond? I'm good with tattoos for now. its the "fire and fury" that keeps me up at night.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord then you are blessed, no matter what. Even if you should be sick, lose everything, or be killed, eternity with Jesus with joy and peace await. Now we sometimes have to endure, but by staying close to Jesus though his word we can have a taste of that joy and peace now.
