Lewwe go on a road trip! For my birthday this year, we took a short vacation to Corpus Christi, Texas to visit some friends. We love road trips and figured we’d take you along with us to see the sights along the way.

Some facts about Corpus Christi:
• Corpus Christi's Bayfront Seawall was constructed in 1928 by sculptor Gutzon Borglum, who later sculpted the Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.
• The Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi is the largest aquarium in Texas and one of the largest in the United States.
• The Laguna Madre, a hypersaline lagoon in Corpus Christi, has saltier waters than the ocean.
• The USS Lexington Museum in Corpus Christi is as tall as a 19-story building and as long as three New York City blocks.
• Corpus Christi Bay is famous for deep-sea fishing, with fishing tours available for visitors.
• The South Texas Music Walk of Fame in Corpus Christi honors South Texas musical artists, with diverse musical traditions, including Tejano, rock and roll, country, and jazz.
• The average annual wind speed in Corpus Christi is 11 mph, with the windiest month being April.
• Mustang Island in Corpus Christi was first inhabited by Paleo-Indians.
• The iconic fast-food chain Whataburger was founded in Corpus Christi in 1950 by Harmon Dobson.
• Corpus Christi is the eighth most popular U.S. state to visit.

• Selena Museum: This museum is located at Q-Productions, the family’s music studio, and brings to life the most important moments of Selena’s life and career.
• Mirador de la Flor (Overlook of the Flower): This life-size bronze statue of Selena was sculpted with one of her many iconic stage costumes.
• Selena Star at the Texas Walk of Fame: In 2004, Corpus Christi got its very own Walk of Fame which honors different musical artists from South Texas.
• Molina Neighborhood and Mural: Selena lived in Corpus Christi’s Molina neighborhood, on the city’s West Side with her husband, Chris Perez.
• Swantner Park: This beautiful area is where the flashback scene from the movie "Selena" took place, where young Selena learns cumbia dancing from her mother, Marcella.
• Selena Auditorium: The Bayfront Auditorium was renamed the Selena Auditorium after her death in 1996.
• Hi-Ho Restaurant: This restaurant is a popular Tex-Mex spot among the locals and was one of Selena’s favorite places to eat.
• Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History: The exhibit, called “Selena Remembered: Mirador de la Flor,” features a small bronze statue, the original molds design, and a brief history of the memorial located on Shoreline Blvd.
