This is why I fell in love with the Boys as a kid. Tight arrangements and everyone is at peak performance. Never heard Dennis play the kit so well. RIP mate. Great sound for an outdoor show and the harmonies are as pristine as ever. God bless you Brian!
Do it again, best beach boys song ever too come out. Been a favorite for over 50 years.. and denny rock those drums like a beast, I seen Billy cowsill filling in for the late great Dennis Wilson. And gotta give it too him the man can rock it...
Denny really drove this band well. Nothing fancy but in the pocket always. All the other drummers they have had (except maybe Ricky Fataar) play too many frilly fills. Simple is what they did on record and simple works for live too, but Denny punches it up just right.
Man despite his problems with drugs and booze, Denny could still really kill it on those drums. Fabulous! Harmony is great on this as always. Mike still doing the goofy moves. I wonder who the guy in The Beach Boys jacket who shook Denny's hands and then stayed on stage was.
Dennis Wilson could hit the drum sticks out of even John ‘Bonzo’ Bonham hands in some of these moments and shows when he’s at his best, the pure force and musical potency, granted Bonham is legendary but I mean every video of 70s Dennis drumming, he bloody blows it out, no wonder Keith Moon was often said to have looked up to Denny’s playing furor. Sober drunk stoned gakked nodding, whatever he may or may not have dealt with substance-wise in this life. He was so clearly theembet in the early 60s black and white appearance and when introduced you just hear this roar of women scream when Dennis was playing and especially early with that dirty blonde surfer hair. I’d have given anything to read Dennis Wilson’s memoir had he had written one (which had he not drowned in 83 I think he sold have) not to glorify his misadventures and mischief but he was a total rogue badass. That guy was so damn cool. Miss Dennis and Carl.
yeah, old posts on the smiley smile forum claimed the band did overdubs for possible tv broadcast / & maybe video release? plus reviewers on amazon for the DVD - released around 2002 - claim Mike sounds autotuned.
@@jend80 Yeah there's some pretty obvious "glitching"(?) in his voice at the beginning of this upload--I thought maybe it was a problem with the upload but it sure sounds like clumsy auto-tuning. I wouldn't be surprised.
I know it's hip not to like Mike and he prbably wasnt very nice to Brian but his nasally voice was a signature of the BB's and his contributions (mostly lyrically) were significant....( DO it Again) was mostly his btw...and he came over to me and signed my Party! album when I saw them live...
@@juliahammond8312 Yes, Mike’s book was great!! Everyone who badmouths Mike should read his book…& u may change ur mind ~ I did!!! Lol 😂 Sure he has his habits that tend to grate on people & who else do u know that’s been married 9 times & has 9 - 10 kids (at last count)??!!! I don’t know any either….but guess he’s made enough $$ to support all of them!! (guess he has grandkids now at his age of about 76 in 2022) And, Amazon has Mike’s book, “Good Vibrations - my life as a Beach Boy”. 😎😎❤️❤️🥰🥰💕💕
It pains me to say it, but Mikey did a decent job on "Do it Again." Dennis Carl is beating the hell out of those skins. Wish he still was. "While I'm not braggin' babe..." What? Mikey isn't bragging? He must be the most humble person on earth. I wonder if he knows what a "lakes pipe" is. I do. Ported and relieved, stroked and bored. Not a clue. steve
@@andersonmarciano6209 footage wasn't commercially released until the dvd in about 2001/2002. Some amazon reviewers think Mike was autotuned. Could've been extra processed when the dvd was edited.
