Alonzo Boden is a comedian. He's the definition of what we want as a comedian when we go out To a comedy club. No lectures...just funny jokes. No controversy or people getting tight. Goid times when Such comedians are on stage.
Alonzo, you have over a hundred video on youtube! You say stuff so off the wall and random you have me freaking laugh out loud. How refreshing to laugh with so much going on in the world now! You were into aviation, wow, I remember that aviation business out near La Guardia airport. Keep us laughing til it hurts!
Saw him host a show last night that had some technical difficulties - he winged it and turned a disaster into the most hilarious night ever!!! Off the cuff brilliance!!!
Alonzo, I remember in one of your previous interviews when you said you get your best material when you're unscripted, making situational jokes off the top of your head like what you are doing here at The Beach House. You also said you have a hard time fitting into the television industry for whatever reason. I agree with you, it's not an easy business to break into even when you have the talent. It is obvious that comedic talent is not the sole reason why you haven't made it big. You are a hard working guy from Queens, NY who takes notes about your own jokes to get better in your own craft. I really admire you work ethic, and I don't think your comedic talent that's keeping you down. There is a guy out there with a similar situational humor style whose main gig is to roast his front row audience members (not as good as Alonzo of course!), and he does a good job branding and marketing what he is known for (he calls it THE CROWD WORK SPECIAL). His name is Andrew Schulz and he recently did a Tedx Talk in New York where he goes off topic at around 4 minutes 48 seconds in video to talk a little bit about how he made his name on youtube by marketing himself the right way. The video is called "Can Comedy Be Funny Anymore? Andrew Schulz TEDxColumbusCircle" What he is doing is nothing new. Don Rickles and Jeff Ross was well known for their roasting skills. Except Andrew Schulz is repackaging everything so that it's easier for people to understand the context, and having it easily accessible by making 5-10 minute videos on youtube. Branding, presentation, accessibility. These are all business marketing terms that may not seem associated with comedy, but Andrew has applied the principles well. I think you should look into his business model and why it's working. Best, Your Loving Fan P.S You talk a lot about your political beliefs on stage, and even though I disagree with your political stance I still love your work and want you to succeed. Please just remember that not all Obama naysayers are racists. I personally supported him twice in the last two elections, and I was cheated. We don't like the guy because of what he did during his 8 years in office, not because of the color of his skin.
Hey Alonzo l love you, think you podcast is great, look forward to you next special, but, more than one video on your Chanel would be really nice. Pease, thank you.
Regarding the pizzeria that refuses to serve gay weddings: I have yet to be at a single wedding that serves pizza in the first place. Maybe it’s a local thing in that state for weddings.
I mentioned Bodden to a friend and she said, "Is he the black guy who's on NPR?" Says more about NPR than about Bodden. 🙄 He's got an effortless conversational style, never feels written even though it definitely is.
Yeah, I'm gonna give a dollar to some corporation so that they can hand over a million bucks to some charity and then spend $100 million bucks bragging about what a great corporation they are and how they wouldn't even charge money for the crap they sell except they want to give more and more to some charity which probably doesn't even exist.
