Beading tutorial. 🧵🪡 I picked a handful of beaded jackets that I always get asked about and I've done a tutorial on how each one was beaded. I start with the simplest beading technique and just add and add until they get ridiculously complicated.
Beading is easy. Obviously, mastering anything can take years. But, once you get the hang of a few simple techniques, the world is your pretty, sparkling oyster.
Happy beading!

I have NO idea how this found its way to my feed... but its AMAZING!! I haven't beaded in yeeeears but I just decided to make myself a 50th birthday outfit and cover it in glass insects. And now I'm SO EXCITED! It's definitely going to take a bit to get back into the swing of things but it will be so much more special. I might even do a corset for my son's girlfriend to wear with this flower technique. It's just so gorgeous!!! ❤

YES!! thank you!!! Been looking through all your vlogs to find this info It’s okay if the vid quality isn’t good it’s SO hard to film embellishment
@PerfectJacket

Glad it was helpful! Yep, the camera gets very confused about what it's supposed to focus on because the bead stays still and the hands are in constant movement. It assumes it should always focus on the moving things, but I got there in the end.

What a great tutorial! I want to start beading now! You make such fun and creative jackets and vintage dresses! I'm already learning to sew and knit my own clothing. Hoping lo learn embroidery and beading soon. I have a technical question, how often do you tie off the thread? Do you bead until you run out of thread or do you tie off often. I think you mentioned that if you put too many beads the thread can break. Thanks for an awesome video!!!
@PerfectJacket
@PerfectJacket 28 дней назад
Aww, thank you! Oooh, I can't knit. You can make your own sweaters. That's so cool. With beading, if you are doing really heavy beading close together, I would only do every second or third bead and then go back over the area three times, so I don't need to tie off after each bead because each of my threads will be quite balanced and light. But, if you do it the fast fashion way and do every single heavy bead on one thread then you do need to tie off each bead because there is a good chance one or several of the beads will break off, and you want the rest to survive. Happy beading! 🥰🎨🧵🪡

My apologies I bet this question has a very obvious answer that you have already explained at some point- on these jackets you put lining covering up all the thread on the inside where the beadwork is as to make sure it doesn’t catch on something and rip? And then if it has coloured sequin or you can’t dry clean, you remove the lining and wash it by hand, but does this include the sleeves? You put lining in the sleeves as well and you are somehow able to remove it without deconstructing the jacket entirely? Thanks so much
@bellat.1217
@bellat.1217 Месяц назад
And have you ever made one and wore it without the lining? Or is that just way to risky as the inside threads might get caught on something like a ring while you put on the jacket ?
@PerfectJacket

That's okay, I didn't cover it in this video as I have. whole episode on cleaning and caring for embellished jackets. All expensive jackets have a lining, usually silk because it's so long lasting and relatively robust. Lightly beaded jacket can be taken it to a specialist dry cleaner. For the heavily beaded jackets it's easier and cheaper to just carefully unpick the silk lining, launder that and hand-stitch it back in. You can spot clean the outer jacket, as required but I'm the only one who wears my jackets (and cleans and repairs them) so I quite careful with them.

@@PerfectJacketoh yes thank you I did watch that video you made! I guess the part that confused me is if you do this process even to the sleeve inner lining when you clean them. Thanks so much
@PerfectJacket
@PerfectJacket 25 дней назад
Oh, No, I don't do that dressmaking thing where you make a lined vest then attach lined sleeves. I use the tailoring method where you make a full outer jacket and a full (with sleeves) silk lining jacket then sew the lining in. The entire lining (inc sleeves) comes out when you cut one lot of stitching. The Vogue V7975 jacket is made this way. The instructions are very clear.
