kumihimo with beads by beadaholique : • How to Braid Beaded Ku... Caps & wire : Gerda's Kralenhoek (staat ook op de sieradenbeurzen) www.gerdaskralenhoek.nl
Thank you for showing your tutorial. I have watched your other tutorials on stunning jewelry and I know your story and how you are self taught. You are awesome. I am new at beading and Kumihino and your right this braiding is not very challenging. I do like the results so I may go a little further trying beads and the flat style. I really liked how you just used the wire to finish your ends and made your loop thru the cover--no glue how refreshing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and have a blessed day. Beading friend from Colorado.
I agree with many people here who don't like you attitude at the beginning of the video. For those who work long hours, this may be an excellent way to relax without "wanting" a challenge, just wishing to have a relaxing hobby. The beaded part is a bit more challenging. Also, I find that the work on the ends to be no so relaxing and even stressful. I have seen many other ways of doing this in an easier way.
Hi, I understand why someone with your talent could find kumihimo boring, however your tutorial is helping me with depression. I suffer with arthritis but find I can do this, not sure about macrame! ! Thank you Regards Chris(topher) ENGLAND
You know what Chris, I admire people who do the best with what they got, and I would never knock someone's work saying it's "just kumihimo". Finding it boring is because, thank God, my hands still work and they do what I tell them to do and to do the same weave using macrame is to me a challenge, like ladderstitch instead of using a loom. But I applaud anyone who still makes the most of it even if they are limited due to illness. I'm glad you get joy from it, and can only give you praise for doing what you can and find joy through the crafts you are still able to work on. So don't mind me... I'm just spoiled rotten but to that same extend I am very well aware of how lucky I am :-)
Well, it is a tutorial and you explain ok, but I want to add something... I just don't get the fact you are saiyng this sad stuff about a japanese old art while doing it in a kind of homemade device, with some colorful cords, of couse doing it like that is more a kid thing (it's cute, but not serious)... kumihimo is made in a marudai (round kumihimo) or takadai (flat kumihimo)... or the yatakadai that can make the rounds and the flats... long ago they were made for building japanese armors and to hang swords, it's strong and pretty, quite important at the time... obijimes are made in kumihimo too, a pretty garment used in kimonos... In the end I just think there's beauty and technique in it and has the easier level and the harder level, I did both macrame and kumihimo and they are both easy and great at the beginning, than it gets harder later on when we mix knots and create the beauty patterns... Not hating, just saiyng o/, since I still have a lot to learn. PS.: You know about kute-uchi, an old relative of kumihimo? If you enjoy hard braiding that is kind of hard in my opinion, never did it, maybe you will enjoy ^^
I’m a beginner so for me everything but everything is a challenge, i don’t usually whip up bracelets in my sleep so you not been patient and hating and bored attitude made me look for another tutorial and more love
I found Kumihimo about 3 weeks ago - I only do it with beads and I love it - I hate stringing the beads, but I love the results - Huge Hugs Gianna thanks for the video - I of course came to you first to learn it and as you said it is boring, but again, I went straight to beads...
Kumihimo is bright and colorful, makes a happy little gift or accessory, easy to pick up and set down as your other commitments may be. To be told how boring it is, would be an insult to those who enjoy a happy little craft. I won't be seeking out your other videos, don't need someone telling me to do this thing.. But how boring I am if I enjoyed it.
It can be monotonous, yes ... but there is a certain "math" to it, for knowing how much cord to use, how many beads for a design and where to place them, etc. You didn't explain that at all! And the cord you are using is satin, I believe, not silk. You didn't go into other possible cording like s-lon, c-lon or superlon, which could be of some interest to people, if they don't want to use just satin rattail. Kumihimo probably isn't for everyone, but it is relaxing at the end of a hard day. Add beads and it makes a beautiful project. And for ending if off, have you tried using heavy Fireline, and tying it off in several places, after wrapping it tightly? Much easier to work with than that wire you're using!
Please, make more lessons with Square Kumihimo!? Very few of them in the network, but these bracelets are also very interesting. I would be very grateful to you! :)
if you can do a tutorial on the maruda geji it like a flower shape one that be awesome! i've only seen a few tutorials i really wanna make one for my kimono.
Though I very much appreciate your lesson here and you did a good job It would be nicer if you could start a tutorial off by either in the description or at the beginning of the video telling us for example how many strands we need and about how long they should be. You started explaining how to set it up and begin working it but for a complete beginner such as myself who has never touched this before I had no idea at all how much thread to use.
Catherine Lane LOL that's actually funny that you mention that because I found her right away after watching this video and she is the only one I ever go to anymore but thank you for the advice and I agree with you she's awesome
I just can not believe to find you to do this as well :DDD, I found this "tool" at the craft store today and sincerely never heard of it before but there was also a woman who was wearing a bracelet made by this, we chatted for a while and then the shop assistant presented me this and I just had to grab it. ... and so now I put in youtube "kumihimo beginners" and who will I be offered to show me how to do it? YOU :DDD
There are people that add beads to their Kumihimo bracelets and also necklace's that are very beautiful , One lady even use's wire in place of the thread such beautiful work but I'm sure that will be boring also Thank you
Gianna can you please tell me where you got your bead ends. I find them perfect for the kumi bracelets!!! Thanks PS thanks to your tutorial, I just made my first one.... Will put a picture on my FB account for you to see!!!!
how long would my threads need to measure to be able to braid a one yard (or one meter) long dog leash? are those threads real silk? they must be expensive. How much do they cost?
what are the bead's you are using at the end? and you really need to adjust your attitude, if you don't like to do it then why did you make the video. I thought the bracelet looked good and easy until you got to the wire, then that turned me off of making it, will try another video that has a better ending.
It's a shame that you start off with the sucky attitude toward kumihimo. This would be an awful first video for someone new to it. Thankfully it's not the first video I have seen. Moving on before your intro was even done.
I agree, I'm just getting into Kumihimo beading or just silk or satin, but watching this video, it turned me off, and I don't like the wire at the ending, will be looking for other way's to secure the end's, and it would have been nice to know what bead she used at the end.
I used a lot at least a meter but I had plenty left over you need to give it a try with at least a meter and than you will see how much you actually need to that same thread ( I used silk here) other threads like for instance cotton is thinner so you may need longer thread
See I like doing kumihimo at night. Since it *is* this same thing every time it's very nice and easy to slow the brain down. When you do difficult macrame you're brain works hard to keep up but this is repetitive and slows down everything. Though I agree it is much more boring than just by hand.
Gosh! Two minutes of this tutorial and my mind blew! Related to macrame? Perfect all the time? You shouldn't be posting any tutorial. Whatever you know about Kumihimo, please, keep it to yourself.
geez and here I thought I was part of the free world, just giving my own honest opinion on what I think about this... Guess no free speech applies for some..., unless of course you like what they say....
