BeamCase is a system theat allows you to create your own case with the combination of 3d prints and Makerbeam XL profiles (or similar 15x15 aluminium extrusions).
Beamcase Sandwich is a system to cerate your own sandwich style SFF case that is the optimal size for your components. With 12 available sizes you can choose the optimal one depending on the size of your GPU and CPU cooler. By combining 3d prints and Makerbeam XL profiles the case is extremely customizable and strong at the same time.

Absolutely love this design. I've printed and built one PC (100ifw) and I'm now printing/building a second (140ifw)!

Very interesting concept. Normally we choose parts based on the case. Here is in reverse. I like the idea of making everything custom, exactly how the client needs it. 👍🏻 Got a 14,5 L SFF build. Thinking to go sub 10 L in the near future.

Wow! I'm absolutely blown away by this case design, Thank you so much for creating and sharing such an innovative project! I was particularly intrigued by the mention of extra brackets for AIO cooling in the video. Could you please provide more information on how to obtain or create these brackets? I'm eager to ensure I have everything I need to make the most out of this fantastic design. Again, thank you for your hard work and for sharing this incredible project with the community! Can't wait to get started on my build.

Thanks for the nice comment, I appreciate it. So the case is centered around compact air-cooled builds without mounting options for radiators internally. But basically anything can be screwed to the Makerbeam XL profiles with 3d printed brackets (you can see various designs on my pintables profile, but most of them are for the larger cases.) So with some additional brackets you can mount a radiator and fans to the outside of the case (probably the top), for AIO support. Creating these brackets is fairly easy, I will probably publish some soon, but if you want to cerate your own you just have to make sure the holes are the correct distance apart to screw to the frame rails. For that you take the IFW number at the end of the case version file and add 15. That gives you the number the screws have to be apart to mount something to the top or bottom. So if the IFW number is 100 then the screws have to be 115mm apart to mount something. You can look at some of the existing brackets which are on my pintables profile (for free) for inspiration and reference.

great work on this case, i am getting ready to build this but i don't see any place which shows a detailed count of the screws and nuts, i would greatly appreciate that.
@BeamCase
@BeamCase 5 месяцев назад
It is difficult to give a precise answer on that since the case is customizable and so the exact amount of screws varies. I normally suggest at least 50 each of 8mm and 16mm long countersunk m3 screws, and a hundred m3 nuts (they do normally not come in smaller packages). And 50 low profile m3 square nuts if you want to use the nut positioners, which are very useful for the case panels. I buy these screws in packs of 500 for reasonable prices from Schraubenluchs.de, but their international shipping prices are horrendous, so depending on where you live a different store might be a better option. For the UK this Store is a good option for screws: www.gwr-fasteners.co.uk/m3-x-8mm-socket-countersunk-screws-din-7991---a2-stainless-steel-69888-p.asp

What about grounding, or is it assumed no component will touch the beams. Is it possible, if there was a frayed wire, it would jump to you from the chassis screws? Perhaps it would be good to connect each of the beams to the psu screws with a green grounding wire. Perhaps in addition wires from each beam to the motherboard grounding surfaces as a failsafe.
@BeamCase
@BeamCase 4 месяца назад
Every components is grounded through the Power supply. I have been building custom cases for a couple years now and so far grounding has never been an issue. But If you want to go the extra mile you can attach a wire from one of the screws holding the mainboard in place to one of the beams and a wire from one of the power supply screws to the same beam.

The beams in the video are just standard Makerbeam XL profiles. But they have already nuts positioned in place using this nut positioner: www.printables.com/model/744778-beamcase-nut-positioner

Do you have a configuration that would let me mount a 360mm radiator? I've been looking for the smallest ITX case I can find that supports a 360rad.
@BeamCase
@BeamCase 24 дня назад
You can just use longer Makerbeams to enable a 360mm radiator. Since the length of the case is only defined by the length of the Makerbeam profiles you can easily adjust the lenght of it to what you need. There are radiator mounting bracket available, to mount a radiator to the outside of the case as well. Somebody on Reddit is allready planning to build a BeamCase sandwich with a 360mm radiator. www.reddit.com/r/watercooling/comments/1eciv4p/what_circuit_do_you_recommend/

@@BeamCase Thank you for the reply! I'm not to knowledgable on watercooling and such, but to clarify I'm planning to use a 360mm AIO rather than a custom watercooling solution, I assume it will still work?

cracking design, exactly just enough room for everything you need. i wonder about heat and noise though. any tests?
@BeamCase
@BeamCase 5 месяцев назад
heat and noise characteristics primarily depend on the components used, and those can vary a lot in this case. It also depends on how the case panels are configured (mesh pattern and density). Because of that it is difficult to give a general answer, but the case pretty much acts like an open test bench, so overall good airflow. The combination of Thermalright axp90-47 full cooper and Noctua NF-a12x15 runs very cool considering it is only 50mm tall. My Ryzen 2600x stays at 66c with 100% load and 1150rpm fan speed at 21c ambient temp. So good temps at reasonable fan speeds, that are still fairly quiet.

sure, the version in the video has 50mm CPU cooler clearance and 52mm GPU cooler clearance and an IFW of 100mm.

Saving this for when I finally take the plunge and get a printer. How big of a print area would one need?
@BeamCase
@BeamCase 5 месяцев назад
For this sandwich design you need a print area at least 190mm long and the width depends on the version, between 120mm and 170mm. It is small enough to fit on most printers, just some of the Mini printers are not large enough. My other case designs require larger printers though, but you can see the exact printer requirements at the bottom of each pintables post.

Why are you referring to those basic 15mm profiles with specific branding? Are you getting paid by them for that? What is XL about the 15mm profiles anyway? Those are one of the smallest ones
@BeamCase
@BeamCase 5 месяцев назад
I refer to them by that specific name , because those are the specific ones I use and I know will work, as there are different 15x15mm profiles and not all of them are compatible with this case. . Makerbeam XL is the brand name, and they are the larger version of standard Makebeam profiles, which are 10x10mm.

@@mixedd69 rotate the mobo 90 degrees, wider for 3 slot GPU, and space for a fan up top. Shouldn't be that much more volume

@TheTerk might work quite well actually, I'll try to boot Fusion and mockup for shits and giggles, tough some headroom still will be needed approx 30-50mm underneath if using Meshlicious layout, for Display Port or HDMI to properly pass, if nit using angled ones
