The Beamish Steam Gala otherwise known as Beamish Steam Gala Wheels of Industry is an event held in the open air museum. The Show Features lots to offer from Classic and Vintage Vehicles, Trucks, Traction Engines, Steam Rollers, Steam Wagons ,the best part of the show for many visitors is the Stunning Landscape of the Museum itself. There are forms of museum transport which are old buses and trams which visitors can ride on and go to different destinations from the 1900s Pit Village and Colliery to the bustling Towns of the 1900s and 1950s. The Staff of the museum dress up in period correct clothing so it makes you feel like you have stepped back in time to relive rural england and how towns once were.
This is one of the main events of the year where Steam Vehicles such as Traction Engines, Steam Rollers, Steam Wagons and Steam Cars are driven round the museum as well as Classic Cars and Trucks. There was a variety of vehicle movement over the 2 day event this video covers the event as a whole and how the Wheels Of Industry was intended to be seen by the public on both Saturday and Sunday (6th & 7th April 2024)
The Museum was joined by visiting Steam Locomotives some of these were on the Narrow Gauge Railway, Manning Wardle 0-6-0ST ‘Sir Berkeley’, courtesy of the Vintage Carriage Trust and Middleton Railway and
Quarry Hunslet narrow gauge 0-4-0STs ‘Britomart’ and ‘Hugh Napier’ from the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway.
