Same, I still have the valentines day 1997 edition. It sits on my mom's hearth. Bought it for her since my birthday is valentines day. Don't be SOFT nigga!
Lmaoo you’re tragically wrong as fellow gen Z. You realize gen z stretches all the way down to kids born in 2010. Those kids are thirteen now.. they’ve never seen one, and if they have they just thought it was some generic plush toy. The word Beenie baby hasn’t came out of the mouth of anyone born after 2008
@@bighomieglo423 bro you honestly sound like a redditor - from a 2010 gen z (also we do know what beanie babies are i have one and i love it to death, it's the robin one)
@@bighomieglo423My sister is actually 2010 (im 2007) and she has just as big of a collection of them as me! And i know you probably didnt literally mean none of them know, however i had the urge to give this information, sorry if im being annoying sending this
I (Gen Z) am close friends with an older gentleman who sadly lost his wife. She collected Beanie Babies. He ended up giving me a puffin because he said that he thought his wife would want me to have it. It’s one of the most treasured things I own.
@@u140550 he’s truly the kindest man. We send letters to one another. He’s sent me photos of his wife and my mother, who is also close friends with him, while sit at her grave with him on the anniversary of her death. I bake for him and send him cookies as well. He never had any grandchildren sadly, and I never had a grandfather on my mother’s side (my grandpa on my dad’s side sadly passed before I spent too much time with him), so we luckily have grown very close. I hope I get to spend so much more time with him :)
Im sorry for his lost & the fact that he gave that to you on his wife behave is extremely amazing and wonderful, especially because she took the time to collect & cherish them!!! Beautiful ❤
@@u140550 just not sure if you're talking about the beanie babies ("their" loss, you support "them")... or the gentleman in the story. I'm sure you meant both though ).
It was pretty bad. Also the comic bubble. Bottom line is that if everyone is buying something as an investment while it is being made sell your stock early because it will crash. Old toys and comics are worth money 40+ years later because people didn't save them. That makes the ones that survived in good condition rare and valuable. If everyone bought a copy and kept it in mint condition then it won't be worth much because the people interested in owning them already do.
My two sisters and I used to share a room growing up and one of my older sisters had two HUGE bins of Beanie Babies. When we would get bored in our room we would make forts on our beds and have a Beanie Baby fight, similar to a snowball fight! Those fights were so fun!
"Inflatable furniture" 😂 Man, that takes me back. I had an inflatable chair back in 1999. I had to practically sit on the floor in order to sit in the chair. Luckily I was 17 so I was limber enough to get that far down and then back up again. Getting up quickly off the floor with no issues. Those were the days. 😂
I had an inflatable love seat in my room so I had a place to sit and listen to music and not have to deal with my roommate. Actually had a few of them. My dog would get on it while I was at work and pop it with his nails trying to get down.
I can't wait to find all the beanie babies lost around the house when we finally move. My grandmother had a huge collection and I had most of the march of the dimes collection.
I can't tell you how weird it was that my "Greatest Generation" Grandmother, all of a sudden over night, was taking us to McDonalds for Happy Meals every day, so she could collect those little babies
Same. They were cute. I wasn’t interested in their resale value beyond the fact that sometimes it kept me from getting the ones I wanted, but I didn’t really think they would be worth tons later. Wonder if the ones I couldn’t get then are available now. Not going to buy them even if they are since I was happy with what I got instead (Beanie Buddies of them which were obviously bigger), but I am a little curious.
On the last day of school my favourite teacher showed us her beanie baby collection and let us take one. She said she worked for years to collect all of them. Now I still have that beanie baby on my desk and think of her when I see it
honestly when i was a kid i just started collecting them for the hell of it. when ever i would go to the diner my mom worked at there was a thrift shop next door, had a whole basket of beanie babies they were selling for cheap. I would buy the ones i wanted or didnt already have a copy of. I now have like 3 shoe boxes full of beanie babies, i also have one or two of the bigger versions of beanie babies they made that are regular stuffed animal sized as well as several packages of the mcdonalds mini beanie babies. i dunno how it turned into an obsession of mine but when ever i would go somewhere and found out they were selling beanie babies id buy a couple.
I have a flamingo, a dog, a cat, an octopus, a red bear, a tiedye bear, a hedgehog, a scorpion, a penguin, a fox, and a bat. My brother also has several. They are our children, and we love them deeply.
We had/have beanie babies (or beanie kids in my country). I still have two, a pink one with a ponytail and spotted party dress called Polly and one that looked like a hunter with a brown fur hood (he's around somewhere, too). We also have bean bags (pretty much unavoidable in schools)
As Gen Z, I had over 300+ beanie babies that I have loved dearly. Most were from garage sales where people realized they don’t actually sell for much. Many were only a couple dollars. My favorites were the cats that rhymed (Zip, Chip, Flip, Snip; as well as their friends, Prance, Scat, and Pounce). Definitely favorites were Prance, Zip, Pounce, and Snip, who we called Jake, Midnight, Chocolate (short for Chocolate Milk), and Sarah (short for Sarahphina). I absolutely never followed the tag tho. I always have them their own personalities and names, unrelated to the tags. Everyone has that “baby” object, like a blankie or toy. Mine was a lamb and his name was Lamby. Loved it so much that the texture wore off. I thought he was an off shade of white, but my mom bought one off Amazon in mint condition a couple years ago, and it is bright white with a pretty bow and fluffy wool, named either Fleecie or Lullaby (I couldn’t remember, so I looked it up; probably Fleecie; both were “girls”, but my Lamby was a boy). Still have him. Had him since I was less than 1 year old. Never slept without him. Also, fun fact, I always called them Ty Babies (I pronounced it “tie” babies). This is cause the tags had a big Ty, and people called em “Babies”.
I bought beanie babies as I high school kid. Some of them were worth quite a bit later on. So I called my mom excited and told her I was going to get them that weekend. She let me come home spend all day tearing up my room and that night after asking for the millionth time she goes "oh, I threw those away. U too old for toys anyhow." Found out that trip she did the same with my grans vintage sewing machine, great grans type writer, the atari and games, baseball and football cards, and autographed items from a local artist. Still hurts
I have fond memories of me and my childhood best friend with our moms who were bff's hitting up all the McDonald's in Katy and Houston for happy meals when the teenie beanies came out 🤣🤣 i STILL have some still in the bags!
As a gen Z who grew up with beanie babies and brought the craze back to my friend group I can say if I see someone use a beanie baby for cornhole I will resort to chaos
