The name on the kit is funny to begin with I’m not real sure of the guy that’s on the kits to begin with. Bear grylls adapted quite a reputation of being a phony survivalist over the years. It’s not a bug out bag or camping bag. I don’t know about you but in a pinch if i desperately had to, i know with my skill set and the contents of that little kit i could survive a cold winter night and be ok to search my way out in the morning. Probably tired and freezing cold but i could definitely do it. Basically with a fire and rough shelter you can survive pretty well for one night. These kits aren’t designed to be a live away from home solution but sometimes they come in handy in a pinch! Thanks for the view and comment I appreciate it!!
Yes luxury van ride back to the resort to survive by the waterfall pool with plenty of cocktails and hors d'oeuvres to enjoy until the next scene is shot the next day 😆
Yea that’s the easiest fire, a good ole bic! sometimes when it’s real cold the lighter needs put near your body to warm up. The bear grylls stuff does make me laugh but I don’t mind the kit. The best part about these kits is that there is room for expansion. We can always add our own components.
This kit has some decent quality components. Gerber should tweak these older kits and bring out a new series, each "starring" a different multi-tool or knife. It would give us a break from the 1000 nearly identical Chinese survival kits on Amazon. This kit looks pretty stuffed but might fit a tiny first-aid kit, repair patch, and foil to make a bowl to boil water in. Thanks for the review!
Yea revamp the kit maybe use a new survivalist someone from the show alone who won a season to give them some more popularity someone who actually survived out there in a real survival situation. They would have to replace the retired multitool with the dime it’s the only mini tool left from their line up I believe
the teeth strikers arent that good get a file or a diamond sharpener remove the paint and give the side of the striker a 90 degree edge and it works like a charm
Yea typically I would use anything but the striker. The back of my knife or the saw on my victoranox Swiss champ are usually my go to. If I’m testing it though I gotta try with the striker it came with. Even though it’s a turd. Normally the ferro rods are ok just the striker sucks. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it!
The rounded part on those strikers aren't for striking the rod, the rounded part is for scraping twigs to generate some tinder in a pinch. I do agree those strikers are usually horrible but sometimes they'll have a decent edge on them which is what you always want to use, as earlier stated if the edge isnt square enough it can easily be fixed. I have definitely seen worse kits thats for sure lol thanks for showing! 👍
@alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548 not a problem I enjoy making the videos. I have taken the file on my leatherman and filed the edge of the striker off more square and they throw a crazy spark! It’s not a bad little kit especially for a supplement to a bigger kit or just something to toss in your pocket for a day hike or hunting kit. The best part about them is that there is room for expansion in all the kits so things can be added and taken away as you please. Thanks for the view and comment!
Honestly, the kit is better than I thought it would be and a decent introduction for how to build such a kit. You could toss a few items such as the light, extra whistle, and cord saw altogether, and add a few sheets of tinfoil, a cotton scarf, some simple first aid items like antiseptic cream, bandaids, water purification tablets, tweezers, and a couple Tylenol. There have been some other good suggestions here in the comments as well.
Yea absolutely there are a lot of creative minds that watch this channel it’s awesome to get to talk to everyone a little bit. Everything you said to add is great and would really help out in a survival situation it is a nice supplement to a bigger kit and has a lot of good back up items in it. Some people just shoot this kit down only because it has the infamous bear grylls on it 😆 but there’s some decent items in there for sure! Thanks for watching!
Not sure if I would want to trust a Gerber product in my BOB/survival kit but I like looking at these cheaper kits to get ideas and then search out similar but more premium options. Thanks for the review and stay safe out there.
Thank you I appreciate it and I will. That’s mostly why I review them it gives people a chance to see what’s in there and give them ideas on the kit they want to make. Thanks for the view and comment!
Definitely not a long term survival kit. Do you think you could spend a night in the woods with it and survive? I think I can pretty easily. Maybe my skills are slightly more advanced but anyone that’s slightly into survival should be able to make a fire and build a shelter and rough a night in the woods. If it has done that it’s served its purpose. It’s not a bug out bag it’s a supplement with some extra pieces
These are just unboxings. I have multiple kits I’ve built I even have some I’m going to sell in the future when the channel grows that covers alot of things you need to survive. I have full packs worth of gear. This isn’t about what I have though. This is just to show people on RU-vid what comes in these pre made, pre packaged kits you can buy from the store. I have probably 30 of these or more I am going to go over. Plus bigger packs, edc gear, tool kits, multitools and so on. These videos do a lot more for some people than decide whether or not to buy a kit. Some people use these to get into the game. Some people get them as an addition to a hiking pack or more advanced kit. Some people just want to know what’s in them. Some people could take this kit and survive for weeks. Skill is #1 over anything but if I knew I had a possibility of getting lost I would definitely take a specific kit for the environment I’m going to be in. Like in the hunting season here I pack for winter climate and shelter/fire heavy. If this was all that you had I could imagine you would do your best to survive with it. These kits are at best for an overnight they aren’t designed for a month stay but there are enough in the contents that I know I could survive a rough cold night with it.
@@aceisking yea your correct it’s supplemental or even a novice could make a fire and build a shelter using this kit. In that way I feel it serve it purpose as an emergency kit
It's just for showing us what is being made on the market. I'm sure he definitely has a far superior kit he probably made himself like most if us do. But you gotta remember that unfortunately there are some people who either can't afford the more reliable expensive gear or just don't camp, hike or anything outdoors that often and just want something with the bare minimum for incase situations.
Yea Gerber makes good tools I love the mini tools from all the company’s I’m sad leatherman got rid of the squirt but these little Gerber tools are awesome also! I love the idea of these small pocket kits plus there’s room for expansion in them!
Yes I’ve had some of these for a while I just never got around to unpacking them. I figured I would do them anyway to give some people an idea of what they can fit in their own PSK. 😁
I actually do that myself I have quite a few kits from pocket kits up to inch bags but that only gets me a few views. This one video got 11,000 views in 2 weeks. I need to have people watching the Channel for the channel to advance. People like to see what’s in these kits also so if they see anything in it they like they could use that piece in their kit. Plus me and other people find it interesting too see what components come in these kits! I will do my own kits later on in the future so if you wanna see that stuff stick around
First off, a "Survival Kit" is for when you have to spend an unplanned night in the wilderness. It should be a small kit that is easily carried every time that you travel afield to insure that you always have it with you. If you get "turned around" you likely won't give up on finding your way out until near sundown. It's embarrassing after all if "Joe Outdoors" gets lost. Building a shelter in the waning light is a waste of time for the most part. Building up some insulation (ferns, grass, dead leaves, etc.) to sit on at the base of a gently leaning tree and hunkering down with the mylar blanket wrapped around you until morning is the realistic scenario. Sewing kits, fishing kits, snare wire, etc. are more for a "Bug-Out Bag" than a "Survival Kit". A decent head-lamp, some lifeboat snacks, LifeStraw, etc. would be more appropriate.
Some people use these as a type of edc extension also! Some of the stuff in these kits are multi use and I have actually used fishing kits just for fun to see if I could catch something with the components. That being said I got lost one time in fall archery season and that’s literally what I had to do all night until I found my way out the next morning. I would walk until I was warm but not sweating then lean against a tree and try to close my eyes for a bit then I would get cold and walk acouple hundred more yards and I did that basically the entire night and after the sun came up I was really only a few hundred yards from the road and cell service.
I never liked those Kits "ready to go". I always loved to put them together on my own. I think about every piece i put in bag properly. What is its purpose, can it substitute something different, is it reliable enough, do i need a backup etc. Important things, i always have two. Two knifes, one fixed blade, one sak or other multitool, combustion, usally a BIC and a ferro rod, shelter, a poncho and an emergency blankett, cordadge, several feet of paracord and bankline, container, steel can with nesting cup and a heavy duty plastic pack sack. Enough water cleaning pills for 3 days, enough medical stuff for the worst or smallest injuries. A compass, a sewing kit, a small pack of cyanacrylate, a waterproof lamp, etc. My wife always says, i am crazy. I tell her everytime that she is crazy, going out into the woods with zero to nothing equipment.
Haha 🤣 that’s funny my wife says the same thing I don’t carry a pack everytime but I do carry my own last ditch kit. It’s a good kit with a fixed blade SAK water container and. A bunch of stuff just in a compact container! Thanks for the view and comment I appreciate it
Yea in a kit this small water and fire are going to be the most important aspects having shelter items would be the next most important thing to me I can survive a night with a good shelter and fire.
BEAR teaches you everything you need NOT do in a survival situation! Les Stroud is hands down better as an instructor, IMO. SAS Training not withstanding, this kit is nothing but Chinese junk in a sharp looking Chinese made pouch! Money maker for Bear, at our expense! This kit is classified, IMO, as “better than nothing”!
I feel you’re correct on your assessment these kits are an overnight stay at best! With the correct skill set you can do anything but not everyone has the same skill set as you or me. I think they are a good idea to get people into preparedness that’s honestly how I started. I wanted a compact kit I could pocket and at least be able to make a shelter and have a fire. Bear grylls might not be all what he’s cracked out to be but Gerber usually has some decent stuff. Pieces can be replaced and traded out or the kit can be used as a supplement to a bigger kit. I have had one of the Gerber mini multitools for a good few years and it’s still around plus Gerber does still have some good USA made products too they just cost more. A lot of the problem now is people want to only pay 50 dollars for something made here that costs 75 dollars to make. That’s why China gets so much money from us!
Basically the kits are for overnight stays anyway as long as you can make a fire and build a shelter with it that’s pretty much top priority where I live
I've definitely seen worse kits. If need be, it's enough to survive with. The thing that I hate about these kits that are sold online is that they prey on the inexperienced. Only someone knowledgeable could get by with a kit that basic. Yet no self respecting survivalist would have that as their kit. I have to admit I was surprised at the quality of the ferro rod. I wasn't expecting the kit to come with one of those tiny ⅛ inch ferro rods that don't put out much spark. Interesting vid. Since finding your channel a few days ago I've enjoyed checking out some of the other kits you've done.
Thank you I appreciate that fire sure I have more to do also so stick around. Eventually I’m going to test them outside each piece individually. I honestly like to open these just because of what they are. It’s cool to see what components companies place in here. It’s definitely useful to a creative resourceful person for sure. Thanks again for watching!
What's the price point for this horrible garbage? I also love it when crappy kits throw in a traveler's sewing kit you get free everywhere, complete with the survivalists most important items, buttons...
They used to be fairly cheap like 30/35 bucks but the prices have gone up since the discontinuation of these kits. I have used the hotel sewing kits before to stitch up holes before they work just fine as an emergency sewing kit 😄 I bought this one a year or more ago and i believe I paid alittle more than 30 for it but then at that point the multitool was worth 20 so I couldn’t complain at the price. Plus it made a cool review and over 15,000 views this is my most hated and popular video at the same time 😂
I'm not sure what the price point was for that kit. The title of the kit is misleading. It seems to me it is simply a basic survival kit. Perhaps it is good to toss it in a glove box, or if someone is using common sense, add more items to it. But, there are much better kits out there.
Yea definitely room to add stuff and I would recommend doing that. Also when these kits were available they had a basic and ultimate kit. They are a good supplement to a larger kit for sure but remember these are last ditch survival kits that will fit in a pocket not a bushcraft or camping pack they are not going to be as advanced as something like that thanks for the view and comment!
Dedicated cutting tool, mini bic, water bag, water purification, medical, foil, tinder tabs, wire duct tape, rebuild the multi tool since nail files arent for survival, bullion packets, compact food bar.
So many conflate an unexpected emergency (lost/injured hiker/hunter) with living off the land (downed pilot or bug out) scenarios. This kit included. A lost hiker doesn’t need a a fishing kit or snares, and someone living off the land needs serious tools. This is closer to what I’d want in a lost hiker kit and would supply components I’d use in such a kit.
Yea it’s definitely for an overnight at the most I like to see what they put in these kits this one is no longer made but some of the tools and stuff they have added are pretty good. I honestly don’t mind the fishing kits a creative mind will find multi uses for a lot of stuff!
@@dougbotimer8005can you not catch a fish with a line hook and bait? I use them sometimes for fun just to see if it can be used to catch fish. Panfish around here are dumb you can literally catch them with a piece of bubble gum. I understand where your coming from the kit should keep you alive for a night with shelter and fire then your heading out in the morning but someone else might be skilled enough to use these things for a three day stay if needed then fishing becomes a little more important when your stomach is hurting
Although their approach to survival is different, ive been watching Ray Mears for a long time. I prefer his attitude to nature, indigenous people and how our ancestors survived. I do appreciate what Bear does though, my eight year old grandson is in the Beavers, soon to join cub scouts and obsessed by Bear Grylls. Anyone who can persuade young people away from gaming and TV to enjoy what the out doors has to offer deserves a medal these days!!!
Yea your right even though he takes a lot of heat for sleeping in hotels and not staying out in the wild he is an attraction to kids and up and coming survivalist it’s awesome that he has that connection to bear. Looking at it through that perspective makes you respect the guy a little more.
@@whitetailsurvival2430 yes, also climbing everest twice and foreign legion. Still prefer Mears, never trust a skinny survivalist, he definitely loves his food 😆
Looks better then most survival kits. The multitool looked alright. I would say it was a missed opportunity to not add one of his branded knives to the kit.
Yea even a small fixed blade would have been cool. I added a small kabar branded knife to the kits I’m going to sell eventually if the channel takes off. Itl take me 40 minutes to go over my kit when I finally get to the end of these 🤣
I believe that the curved part at the end of the ferro rod striker is not designed to scrape the rod it’s designed as a tinder scraper for things like fat wood etc. Thanks for sharing. 👊🏕️
Thank you I appreciate the comment! I hope that’s what it’s for because it sucks at striking the rod 🤣 I will try to scrape some tinder with it next time I’m out and I am going to stick to using the edge of the striker or my knife on the ferro rod
Best survival kit I have seen but that ain't saying much cause I'd still rather go to the dollar store(with exception to the multitool) and make my own fer cheaper.
Watch my Coghlans video it has a lot more stuff in it. I always recommend building your own kit specifically to your skills and environment that’s the best way I just like to open these kits and see the contents they include it makes for a cool series
Haha that’s hilarious 😆 me and my kids used to play show where you could decide what he had to do in each situation and my son would choose to make him walk across this dangerous log everytime and he would fall off down into a valley it was pretty funny
Yea my eyes are still great so it takes me a few try’s but I can still get it. I do prefer the kits that have the threader in them but in a survival situation you either make do or don’t use it at all that’s your options. You can always replace the kit before you go out also!
Yea it’s not bad definitely room for improvement but still cool to go over! Thanks for the comments and view I appreciate it! Push that little subscribe button and the bell down there and it’ll let you know when I make more videos!
I used to teach the Five C's of survival back in the 80's. I would now teach the Seven C's. That Mylar blanket is junk as a "Shelter" they shred so easy. Your better off with a GI Poncho. Or one of those Emergency Tube tents. for Cover. Two, Cordage, you always need more then you think you will. Three, Combustion. Bic Lighter, Matches, in water proof container. Ferro Rod, with some kind of home made or bought tinder. Four, Container, I guess that plastic Zip Lock bag is it? A good stainless steel water bottle with nesting cup and lid. Five, Cutting. Knife, hatchet or tomahawk. small folding saw. Those wire saws break way to easy. Six, calories, just pack some snacks with you. Seven, Communication, and I was surprised about two whistles and a signal mirror. The sewing kit was a nice touch also. But ditch the fishing kit. Too mush work for very little gain. And that snare wire, yeah, it might be good for repairing something. As for a light, get a good Mini Maglite, the AA version in the 127 Luman range. And no first aid items? That is one reason I build my own, and I build them different for the time of year I'm out. Something to think about.
Absolutely! I love your idea of 7 C’s especially if you can contain them in a kit you can strap to your belt or slide into a cargo pocket. I hear of people all the time jumping out of the car to go hunting or just going for a day hike not going to far from the car so they don’t take any gear at all then they get lost and have nothing. I guess in some cases it’s easy to keep a kit on your belt or in your pocket some people just don’t wanna toss a pack on for acouple minute walk. Hopefully comments like yours and watching these videos help people decide what to put in their own kit! You’re definitely correct in saying you should build your own. Only you know your skill set and only you know your climate and time of year you may have to use it in. These kits give people some ideas of some really compact gear they could use for a LDK or last ditch kit is what I call mine.
@@whitetailsurvival2430 It all fits in or on my favorite Day Pack. I would never trust a pocket or belt kit sized "Survival" kit. Where I live, it can snow any day of the year. And the mountains I hike in, down in Colorado, the weather can go sideways, in a heart beat. Also, that kit you showed, had a few good things, but was missing a water container, and a way to purify water, also no first aid supplies, not even one band aid. So I guess I will dust off my old Hiking Hat, and put together a video on what I call the 7 C's. Don't get me wrong, you did a good job. Right now my channel has gone from making video's about my bicycle, to video's about my Knife collection. But, I hope to change that, once the weather gets nice. Take care and keep on making Video's!
@@longrider42not everyone is as privileged as you are. We don't all ride high horses. And while it does snow here, one has to handle 112°F + heat... I doubt you'd be up to that.
@@puppiesarepower3682 I've ridden my bike in Iowa, in July, in 100+ degree weather. Its not easy to do. I kept a wet towel around my neck, and I wore a loose long sleeved shirt and used lots of sun screen. Plus drank lots of Gatorade. If it really got bad, I'd hunt up some shade and wait out the heat. So there ya go.
Everyone says they can make a better kit for less money but they are buying from the same people who make every thing unless you're a blacksmith or a trade you are buying from the same company.
Yea your right some place in shenzhen China is where most of it comes from anyway. I made 5 kits to sell eventually and I’m in over 300 dollars already and that’s buying everything in bulk of 5 or more. I challenge anyone to make a kit like this for cheaper
Edward 'bear" Grylls is a fake...not only was it shown that the TV programmes of him living in a hollow/tree/ dead animal etcetc blah blah then after filming was over it was off to a hotel. He also burst into tears while doing a cable ride over the river Tyne as the cable pulley got stuck.
Haha 🤣 I have heard some story’s about that dude I guess it was a good marketing ploy for Gerber that lasted for a good couple years. I still like Gerber though bear has always been a sham
Haha I was hardly using any pressure I was afraid to cut the kit. I just did my half yearly sharpen on that wave plus. I sharpened it and then stropped it with leather and 4000 grit it’s not reflective polished but it’s real sharp
A real survival kit has a lot more better quality items than that junk! Better off to make your own truly reliable survival kit based on your abilities, skillsets, knowledge and go out there and actually test it!
Absolutely this gets some people started and interested in making their own or they can use this as a spare supplemental kit. I always recommend making your own but I know I could take this kit and use it to survive in my environment for sure especially for one night. That’s with my skill set yours may differ from my depending on your environment and skill set
I believe this is a bad statement. No survival kit is junk if it has something you need. Not survival kit is meant to be a stand alone make your life easy kit. These are meant to have useful items that you might have lost or forgot. I still have a survival mirror from my very first survival kit. My parents bought it for me when I was a boyscout in the 80s. I carried that kit for many years. I took it apart to make useful for long over weekend hikes on the Appalachian Trail. Every kit had chocolate back then. Wonder when they stopped that. They also came with chicken and beef bouillon. Something you don't see as much either
@@richardhenry1969 your absolutely right about this! I love the story it’s awesome I see the bullion in some kits still. It does like to absorb all the moisture it can though! These kits are great to supplement a bigger kit. Also they give people ideas on what to add to their kits if they make a personalized PSK. Thanks for the comment and view I appreciate it!
Haha 🤣 that’s true I told a guy earlier that’s the super ultimate kit. It comes either the camera crew, hotel room key, and a hose with a funnel on it for when it’s time to drink your own P*ss
I bought it off eBay still in new condition. They pop on there once in a while. They have some basic BG kits on there right now. I didn’t see any ultimate ones on there yet! Thanks for the view like and comment
I just hit the old Google up and found this kit and many other's. The one site I found had it listed at $50 which imo is a bit over priced. You're clearly paying for the name imo at that price tag.
@@jamesleary1405 yea I bought these kits a while back I never got the channel started for real until 2 weeks ago. Some of these kits were still in production when I bought them including this one. I figured I might as well go over them anyway. At best it might give someone some ideas for their own PSK
Absolutely right I always say they are an overnight kit at best. A kit this small I would focus more shelter heavy and water purification. They are fun to open and go through though
Haha no that’s actually the super ultimate kit. That kit comes with everything in this kit, the stuff you mentioned, plus it comes with a special container that makes it easier to drink your own p*ss.
Thank you ok is better than bad I guess I will take it! I’m new to this so if you have any opinions on things to change it from OKAY to decent or good I am open ears and eyes I guess on here 🤣
Those strikers that always come in these low end kit's are a joke imo unless you use it on the square edge as you did in the end. That part they expect us too use that has that kinda concave with teeth just destroys the ferro rod imo by digging into it badly with barely any spark if any. The nice thing though about these kinda kit's is that for those who may not camp or hike often it's useful enough in a short term emergency situation. Or another good thing with it is a toss it in the boat or camper or whatever you have and forget about it until possibly needed. And the obvious thing is you can build off of it if you're new too building you're own kit's and make it into a true reliable kit with some more better gear added too a nice pack. Edit: So imo they put a unnecessary amount of swivels in their and not enough selection of hook sizes. Also they could've added a small container of salmon eggs or even trout bait like in those small clear thin plastic containers that hold like 3 or 5 pieces too atleast get you going while you forage for real bait like worms etc. And there are way better options for a light they could've gone with and still kept the price the same over that useless single led light. These are just my thoughts on that obviously alot can be added and done here as you clearly know. I must add one of the big useful thing's i seen in this kit that many over look is those small tweezers on that multitool. You don't see many kit's come with those and people underestimate how serious a splinter can actually be. I know someone who had too have their finger removed due too an infection from a splinter they forgot about and it got real bad for them. So my point is even though the odds are slim it does happen so it's nice seeing they added that into the tool included in this kit.
Absolutely! I always tell people at best these are good for an overnight stay. Things can be added removed and upgraded to have a better quality kit. I agree with the bait thing too. People don’t realize how hard it is to actually find wild bait. One good thing about these kits though is that it might be the item that gets someone through a rough night lost in the woods. All you really need to survive a night is a good shelter and a fire if you have them things your alright. This kit wouldn’t make an awesome camping pack or bug out bag but it’s possible to be used to save a life. Another thing these kits are good for is getting people interested in preparedness. I know when I was younger this kind of kit always peaked my curiosity because it could be kept on your person at all times. Things can definitely be updated and exchanged out but this little thing is an ok addition to a pack or an ok base to get someone started. Thanks for the comment and the view I appreciate it!!!
Do you have a channel also? I would like to see your content. It’s not as easy as what you think. I work full time in construction and I’m doing this as a hobby if the channel gets bigger I will invest in more equipment if it’s worth it to me. I wanted to open the kits as they have never been opened before. I appreciate the feedback though! Maybe I will try it on a acouple other videos and see what happens. I didn’t think it was too bad for 1000 views in two days 😂 repacking the contents of some of these kits is not as easy as what you think. I have bought probably 100 or so of them through the years and they aren’t easy to repack. I will definitely take your comments into consideration in the future if the channel actually becomes more serious. Thanks again!
@whitetailsurvival2430 sure don't listen. Don't ask yourself if I have valid points. Just be a dumbass and knee jerk your way to a 1000 subs over the next 20 years.
@@whitetailsurvival2430 My channel is small too. I just use my Cell phone, and no script. You did okay. Don't let people tell you different. Just keep doing what your doing. I made my channel to show off stuff to friends and family for the most part.
@@longrider42 thank you I appreciate it! I like the idea of not ever being inside the kit before I open it. Thanks for the positive words. The survival kit people are brutal 😆 the multitool video people are a lot more friendly. If the channel ever gets big I will do more advanced equipment and better cameras but as of now I do this as a hobby before bed when my kids are sleeping or before I go to work in the morning.
@@whitetailsurvival2430 You are doing fine, from what I have seen. Yes, the people who watch kit videos can be super critical. No kit is good enough, ever. I think I literally carry more items than this kit on my person every day (between a survival belt, cargo pants and boots). We sometimes forget the target of this equipment shown in the video is people who will never actually use it, the goal is to turn those people into someone who spends enough time in the wilds to actually need a survival kit. Very critical user example: I wear nice boots, upgraded to include metatarsal guards, spark guards, extra long survivor cord instead of shoe laces, ferro rod and boot knife. My belt has a folding razor blade knife, whistle, triple anti-biotic ointment, petroleum jelly, rayon, hurricane matches, fishing line, weights, hooks and artificial bait, band-aids, motion sickness pills, pain killers, iodine tablets, salt tablets, water purification tablets and water bags, sewing kit, thin saw blade, whistle, scalpel... and that's just inside of it, it also has a built in signal mirror and bottle opener. Strapped to it is a proper multi-tool. Elsewhere in or on my person would be a bandanna, pocket knife, another knife, pen, flashlight, bit based screwdriver, stash cash, another flashlight in a pocket, minimalist lock pick set and a handcuff key... survivor bracelet connecting my keys to my pants... has a Gerber dime on it as well as another thin multi-tool device. I keep another ferro rod with holes in it attached to my belt via survivorcord and a pinch dongle as well. I even have hollowed out coins with micro sd cards in them as well as credit card number, phone number and other important information on tiny printouts (film) as well as in digital copy (sd cards). Ignore the critical statements from people like the example user above.
All that's missing is the tablets that prevent you from becoming a weak-spined reservist named Bear Grylls. It will take Gerber more time than the universe has left to gain back their reputation. Interesting review.
Haha yes 🤣 bear was quite the interesting selection for a survivalist to use for their tools and kits. It sucks he turned out to be a huge sham. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it!
This is content for me to create. This kit video has over 11,000 views. Whether you view it as junk matters not to me. What matters is that people watch the video. This kit is useful to people that have an advanced skill set. If you couldn’t use it to make a fire and build a shelter I wouldn’t recommend going out to the woods!
12,000 views in two weeks im happy with that outcome so far! I make these videos to show what’s in the kit and maybe it will give people some ideas of what to put in their own kit. We all understand we should grab a 45 lb hiking kit everytime we get out of the car just in case we get lost but some people are not going to do that. This kit is more than enough for me to survive one overnight in the woods. Your skill set may vary. I would recommend maybe a more minimalist approach to your outdoor survival skills if you couldn’t spend one night in the woods with this kit. It fits in your pocket you could build a shelter with some natural materials plus some components from the kit and you can make a fire. That’s the most important thing to me for an overnight in the woods. I don’t recommend using this as a bug out kit or even a 72 hour solution but for an overnight unexpected stay it should work fine. Some components are probably not needed but in a survival situation creativity is the key! Snare wire and fishing line can be used as cordage there are many multi use items in this kit. I’m not being offensive just open minded. Problem solving is the most important skill in any situation!
What is your reasoning? I always recommend a more advanced kit for a new person with little skill but someone with sufficient skills could survive a night with this kit easily. That’s honestly what these are for. A shelter and fire should be enough to get some one through the night and alive in the morning to find their way out. If your skills and confidence is so low you don’t think you could do that with this kit then i recommend you stay out of the woods! Plus if your going to post a comment at least give a reasonable answer as to why it’s trash. We understand bear grylls is a sham and Gerber isn’t what it used to be but there are a good few multi useful items in this kit. Plus there is room for expansion you can take out an add whatever you want. Lastly these kits are to give people ideas on what they could fit into a PSK if that’s what they prefer to carry. Thanks for watching!
@@whitetailsurvival2430 anyone with a clue about survival wouldn’t touch that overpriced garbage with a ten foot pole! And you’re saying that folks with sufficient skills are the target market! Keep on shilling man👍
@@JohnDavis-tj1bl I’m not positive if you have any idea what I’m doing with these kits or not but I’m just opening them and showing them to the public. I’m not telling everyone to run out and buy this kit right now because it’s the end all do all for everyone. They don’t even produce this kit anymore it’s discontinued. I’m not making a profit off this kit and I’m not pushing anyone to buy it so your shill comment makes 0 sense if there was a shred of intelligence at all in your head you could see that. These unboxings are good for people that want to make a mini kit for themselves or even buy one and cater the kit to themselves. Plus it’s fun to unpack. Trust me no one is shilling for bear grylls. It would be stupid for me to even do that being that I don’t make money for the kit or from RU-vid for showing it. I don’t have near enough subs for that.
