We are trying out a Bear Mattress right now. My wife and I have been sleeping on it for about 90 days now. We like the way it feels when we are on our backs. It's easy to move around on and the motion transfer is good. We do find the mattress sleeps hot for us. I've woken up sweaty on more than few nights. And we keep the house around 72 degrees at night. Side note: I called Bear Mattress to return it a couple of weeks ago and Scott offered to send us out a Bear Mattress cover for free to see it helped with the cooling of the mattress. My wife seems to feel like it sleeps cooler. But I'm still hot on occasion. Also, we sleep on our sides mostly and we don't feel like there is enough pressure relief in our shoulders. I'm 5'10 250lbs and shes 5'7 140lbs. Hope this helps someone.

Hi Aren -- Thank you very much for sharing your experience with the Bear. This is a very thoughtful assessment of your (and your wife's) experience, so I definitely think it will be helpful for people. As an important side note, your feedback would be even more helpful if you would be willing to add this as a review on GoodBed, where people who are shopping for a mattress and looking for unbiased information will find it more easily. So far there are only 2 ratings and no written reviews for the Bear. If you'd be willing, here is the link to where you can submit your review of this mattress: www.goodbed.com/review-mattress/mattress/the-bear-mattress/

Took your multiple test question thing for mattresses (sorry I honestly forgot the name of the quiz) I really liked it!! It gave me a wider range of options that weren't overwhelming (compared to typing it in on Google or another search engine) and there's actually allot of good suggestions Thanks it was very helpful haha

Hey man, thank you for the video review on this mattress. I have a question, wonder if you can answer it. Would the celliant cover properties work with or through the sheets? I torn between this one and the Nectar.
@goodbed
@goodbed 5 лет назад
Hi there -- My pleasure, and thanks for your question. I'm afraid the many purported benefits of the Celliant material fall a bit outside of our area of expertise, so I'm not really able to say with confidence how much or how little they might be affected by your sheets. Sorry I can't be of more help on that one.

Is it super firm? Lot of people say it s firmer than the other companies (purple/ casper etc). I am 5'8, some back issues but generally like less firm mattresses. Thanks a lot for your review!
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Steve -- Thanks for your question. I definitely wouldn't describe it as "super-firm." We ended up classifying it as a straight-up "Medium" on our softness spectrum, though it was close to being a "Medium-Firm." By comparison, we classify Casper as a Medium-Firm. Their 2017 version is a bit softer than previous versions -- almost enough to make it a Medium, but not quite. So, bottom line is the softness on these are very close, and the Bear is definitely not substantially firmer than the Casper. It's possible that the other people you heard were talking about an older version of the Bear. I hope that helps.
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Steve -- FYI, since you had asked about how the firmness of the Bear compares to the Purple, I wanted to follow up to let you know that our full review of the Purple mattress was just released. You can check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rjXViaBCEoA.html Overall, I would say the Bear is a bit firmer than the Purple, but we actually classify them both as Medium. Check out the Comfort Level section near the beginning of the Purple video for a more nuanced explanation of the softness of the Purple, which is going to feel a bit different to different people, or even just to the same person in different positions. I hope that helps!

Hi +vacationboyvideos -- Thanks for your question, and sorry I missed this earlier. I would love to help but I really need some more information about you to narrow in on specific options. To this end, have you tried taking the match quiz on our website yet? We actually created it for exactly this purpose so I'd highly recommend it as a starting point for your search. You can find it here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/ Alternatively, if you're primarily interested in latex options, you can use this page to browse the various latex mattresses that you can buy online: www.goodbed.com/mattress-models/online/ Just use the More Filters at the top to filter by Latex. The return policies for each product are shown in the list as well (click on them for more details), and you can even filter the products to only see ones that have a return policy. I hope that's helpful.

Hi Mike -- Thanks for your question. We do prioritize our reviews based on interest from our users, so your suggestion here will certainly be noted. That said, just as an FYI, this is the first request we've gotten related to this brand (and only the second time I've ever even heard of it). Nonetheless, you can subscribe to our RU-vid channel or follow us on Facebook to be notified of when we release new reviews of products like this one.

GoodBed Thanks! I’d like to see your non biased review & possibly compare it to Bear mattress, since they also claim their mattress is made for “athletes”. I’ve had an iComfort Genius king mattress for several years. However, I didn’t purchase it myself. It’s ok, but not great. Am also considering latex, one that has Talalay top layer, then Dunlop layer hoping both layers are close to 4lbs density each, & support core to have 2lbs density. Any suggestions?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Mike -- Thanks for your question. Your description actually sounds uncannily like the construction of the original Brooklyn #BestMattressEver. You can get an idea of what characteristics that configuration would have by watching our review of that (now discontinued) mattress here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_B-PZLpgwPw.html Brooklyn has since given that model a complete overhaul so it no longer features latex, but if you're interested in checking out the latest version, now known as the Brooklyn Signature Hybrid, we just completed our review which should be due out in the next week or two. In terms of other options, I can't think of any off-hand that layer Talalay and Dunlop like you described, however you may want to take a look at the Spindle (which uses only Dunlop, but is certainly available in a softness level that is on par with the Bear). You can find our review of that mattress here: www.goodbed.com/mattresses/spindle-mattress/ I hope that helps.

Hi Mike, I actually took your match quiz and the Eco Terra mattress scored the highest for me. I am leaning towards a hybrid type, instead of all foam. I was hoping that you reviewed it already and would be able see your video review on it. Are there any plans to review the Eco Terra soon?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Mike -- Sorry I missed this earlier. Yes, the Eco Terra is certainly a good option. I didn't mention it previously only because at the time you were looking for a mattress with a foam support core rather than pocketed coils like the Eco Terra. In terms of your question, we do not have the Eco Terra on our immediate timetable, but it is one that has received a number of requests so I do expect it will be one that we review in the coming months. FYI, once our review of that mattress has been published, it will be available on our site here: www.goodbed.com/mattresses/eco-terra/

Hi Jeff -- Thanks for your question. Generally I'd need a bit more information to assess overall fit, so if you haven't already done so, one thing I'd suggest is taking our Match Quiz, which will solicit all the pertinent details from you and can search across far more options than I can do in my head. Be sure to scroll down to the Online Matches section to see what it recommends for you. www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/quiz/ That said, in terms of the mattresses you mentioned, I'm not sure any of them will have the same type of feel as the Tempur Rhapsody, particularly in terms of the deep slow-melting memory feel of that mattress. I can certainly say that the Bear and Nest ActiveX will not have this same feel. The only one I can't speak to with certainty is the Revere, since we have not done an in-depth review of this mattress. It does appear to have 3" of memory foam near the top -- amzn.to/2hoNFYb -- which would likely give it more similarity than the other two you mentioned. Quite honestly though, it bums me out to have narrowed your options to this one due to the vast amount of untrustworthy and misleading information about this particular brand that permeates the internet. I hope that helps.

Hi there -- Thanks for your question, and sorry I didn't see this earlier. I would love to help but I really need some more information about you to narrow in on specific options. To this end, have you tried taking the match quiz on our site yet? We created it for exactly this purpose so I'd highly recommend it as a starting point for your search. You can find it here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/ The quiz works by asking you all the relevant questions to fully assess your requirements (including some factors that might actually be important to you but would not have otherwise thought to consider), and then uses an intelligent matching algorithm that searches across available products to find ones that match your unique needs and preferences. Of course, if you still have questions after taking it, I'm always happy to help.

Recently purchased the Bear Hybrid and was wondering how this compares to the standard Bear based on the plush to firmness range ........ it stated as being like 6 but in reality feels like an 7+ if not an 8! I’m 5’5” @180 lbs and the wifey ,Same height 135 lbs ball park ............thing is I called Bear on this matter being they advise on sleeping on it 30 days per suggestion,also they opted to send free of charge 2 extra layers of foam,unsure of the density...........

@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Randy -- Thanks for your question. We haven't done an in-depth review of the Bear Hybrid yet, so I'm afraid I can't offer a detailed comparison of how it compares in terms of softness. That said, while assessing *absolute* softness is very subjective, assessing *relative* softness is fairly objective. As such, I would think that any information from Bear about the relative softness of the original and hybrid models should be pretty reliable. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.

I don't have an active lifestyle but I DO have a rare cell disease that affects my muscles giving me lots of aches daily. Would Bear be more helpful for me than most others?
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi +The Weekly Worgen -- Thanks for your question. I'm very sorry to hear about the daily aches you experience. In terms of how well this mattress would help with that, I'm afraid I really don't know one way or another. Your condition is not one with which I'm familiar from talking to other readers, and in any case I think only a medical specialist could really have a well-informed opinion on how beneficial the components of this mattress (particularly the ones that are most unique, such as the Celliant cover) would be to treating your symptoms. The only thing I can say is that this mattress, like many other online mattresses, has a very generous return policy. So if your research leads you to think that overall this mattress might be at least as good for you as any other, then there isn't much risk for you in giving it a try for 100 nights to see how it does for you. If you do decide to do this and are willing to share a few words about your experience, please come back to GoodBed and leave a review. I will be very interested to hear how it does for you, and there are likely others in your unique situation for whom it would be very helpful. You can do that here: www.goodbed.com/review-mattress/model/the-bear-mattress/ I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.

Hi Anthony -- I'm sorry I missed this question earlier. Hopefully you've already found our match quiz by now, which will take into account a variety of inputs from you (including price, how much bounce vs memory feel you like, how hot you sleep, etc.) and will show you options that best match your criteria. If not, you can find that here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/ This is the best resource I can suggest because it will quickly get all of your preferences and can search across many more good options than I can do in my head. I hope it's helpful, but if you are still needing/wanting more guidance after taking the quiz please feel free to post back here with any questions.

I am 5'8, female and weigh 125 pounds. I sleep primarily on my side and sometimes roll on to my back. I know I definitely don't like mattresses that are too firm (probably due to me not weighing too much?). I tried the purple mattress and I dislike it so much - It is super hard on my back, shoulders and hips. I love the "sink in mattresses" but I am wondering if over time that will hurt my posture? What mattress would you recommend for me?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Nikki -- Thanks for your question. Happy to help. In terms of your experience on the Purple, you are very much on the lighter side, particularly for your height, so it's not surprising that the Purple doesn't feel soft enough for you, particularly for your shoulders and hips when sleeping on your side. If you're interested in understanding the reasons for this, you can check out our detailed review of the Purple here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rjXViaBCEoA.html In terms of advice, the first thing I would say is that you should not be afraid of getting a softer mattress. Softness and support are two different things -- you can have a mattress that offers softness, pressure relief and conformance in its upper layers while still providing excellent support (i.e., holding your spine in proper alignment). In fact, for a lighter side sleeper, you may not be able to get good support *without* a bit more softness. On your side, the goal is to keep your spine roughly horizontal to the ground, which means the top of the mattress needs to conform to the curves of your hips and shoulders while the bottom of the mattress (where most of the support comes from) prevents the heaviest part of your body (which for everyone is the hips) from sinking too far into the mattress. In your case, I would guess that this combination is going to come from a mattress that is either Medium-Soft or Soft on our scale, depending on your other preferences. In terms of specific recommendations, I would love to help point you in the direction but to find a mattress that meets all of your criteria, I need more info than what you provided -- including a few factors that you may not even have thought about before but might actually matter to you, since most people don't know all the options to consider when choosing a mattress. This is why we created a sophisticated match quiz that will help you better define your unique needs and preferences and will ultimately show you options (both online and in nearby stores) that best match these criteria. If you haven't already done so, you can take that quiz here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/ I hope you find it helpful but if it leaves you with any remaining questions, don't hesitate to come back here and ask.

Thank you so much! Your response was very detailed and helpful. I matched with the Amore bed and it looks promising so far. Have you tried out this mattress or know anything further about it? I feel like I might benefit from a hybrid mattress, but I am still nervous about it. Also, my partner is curious about which mattress suits them, they are 5'5 and weigh 190 pounds, we sleep on different mattresses, they are a side sleeper with back and neck issues. What type of mattress would you recommend for them? They didn't like the purple mattress either, it was too firm as well. I apologize for all the questions - I trust your reviews and experience and am hoping to find the perfect mattress!
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Nikki -- Thanks for your kind words. I actually have slept on the Amore bed. We haven't done our full review of it yet, but that will be forthcoming in the next couple months. Did you match with the Soft version? In terms of your partner, the quiz actually allows you to enter in a partner with their criteria, which produces a blended result for you, so I would certainly recommend doing that. It will also show you separate Target Softness levels for each of you, so you can see how far apart you guys are in your requirements. The farther apart you are, the more you benefit from "dual comfort" (meaning a setup where each partner has a mattress that's configured to them, as it sounds like you do now). I hope that helps, but let me know if you have any further questions.

I'm 6'5 and 300lbs what mattresses would you recommend for me?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi +Twell609 -- Thanks for your question. At 300 lbs and up, I do think the options start to get more narrow -- particularly if you're looking for a mattress that will hold up for 5-10 years. IMHO, you'll want to look for product lines that are specifically designed to be supportive (and durable) for heavier sleepers. Such mattresses are generally made with super-sturdy coils and often aren't sold online. A good option that is sometimes available on Amazon would be the Medicoil HD (Heavy Duty) line here: amzn.to/2tlYZtj The coils in this mattress are made with 12.5 gauge wire, which is extremely thick as mattress coils go. Likewise, the foams are high-density, durable foams that are specifically made for people in your weight range. You can even get mattresses in this line that are flippable, which increases their longevity (and reduces body impressions) even more. Short of that, here are some other things you'll want to consider: -- If it's an all-foam mattress, the base layer needs to be *at least* 2.0 lbs density, but even this is on the low side in this case. -- If it's an innerspring mattress, look for lower-gauge firmer coils. Short of being able to find this, connected coils would be better for you than pocketed coils. -- Latex is also a good option with proven durability, particularly as a comfort material but also as a support material. -- A mattress that's at least 12" thick will generally be better for you to keep from bottoming out, though thicker than that is not necessarily better for you. -- Keep in mind that in most cases a given mattress will feel a bit softer to you than it would to someone who is significantly lighter. The exception to this is a mattress that has soft layers on the top with a very firm layer underneath -- in this case, the mattress could actually feel firmer to someone heavier (e.g., if they sink through the soft stuff and are resting right on the firm layer). I hope that helps.

GoodBed Only reason I'm rushing an opinion is because I'm sleeping on the floor at this time. I want a mattress and am tired of waiting for Nectar. I do want the traditional memory foam feel but something not as firm as the Ghostbed. I had that bed and it was really firm. I weight 300 lbs but I felt like I barely put a dent in the Ghost Bed when laying on it.
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Got it. In case it helps, here is how we classify them from a softness level perspective. The Bear is a Medium, but on the firmer side of that classification. The GhostBed is a Medium-Firm. The Nectar is a Medium-Soft. From a "memory feel" perspective, the Nectar has significantly more of that characteristic than either Bear or GhostBed.

How close is this to a tempur pedic?
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Patrick -- Thanks for your question. FYI, one fact that makes this question a bit hard to answer is that Tempur-Pedic has about a dozen different models, which includes everything from spring versions to all-foam versions. You can see our overview of their full line-up here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wt___cVXkzk.html In general though, the one defining thing that all Tempur-Pedic models have in common is a significant amount of 'slowly melting into the bed' memory feel. Since the Bear mattress does not have very much of this particular characteristic, I would say that in my view, it doesn't feel that similar to a Tempur-Pedic. Certainly there are many other mattresses that are deliberately designed to have a higher degree of memory feel. That being said, "close"-ness is all relative. So, for example, if you are coming from a traditional innerspring mattress, then to you, the Bear might feel roughly in the same ballpark as a Tempur-Pedic. I hope that helps.

How does the Bear mattress compare to the Cocoon?
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi +thegrandbootypest -- Thanks for your question. In terms of comparing the Bear and the Cocoon, I'd focus most on the Cocoon Soft, since that one is closest in its softness level (the Cocoon Firm is firmer than the Bear). Comparing the Bear with the Cocoon Soft, here are the key differences: * The Bear has less "memory feel" * The Bear has a bit more bounce * The Bear has better edge support * The Bear has a Celliant cover while the Cocoon offers a "Chill" option with a phase change cover (both of these features are geared toward temperature regulation and/or cooling) * The Cocoon has slightly better motion isolation In case you haven't already seen it, we did a full review of both Sealy Cocoon options that you can watch here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lHjm_1Q8rYA.html I hope that helps.

how does this compare to leesa?
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi +b -- Overall, they have many similar characteristics. In terms of the softness level, we classified both of them as Medium, but I'd say the Bear is just a tiny bit firmer than the Leesa. Both have roughly a medium amount of cushioning depth. Their responsiveness is similar as well, however Leesa might have a tad bit more surface bounce as well as a tad bit more "slow melt" memory feel. One of the biggest differences would probably be the Celliant in the cover, which is something unique to Bear. If you haven't already seen it, you can check out our full evaluation of the Leesa here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1CuaP7z8TlA.html I hope that helps.

I don't understand how these companies accept back a 99 day USED MATTRESS . What do they do with all these returns??

Hi +BMWg84 -- Thanks for your question. The model that most online mattress companies (including Bear) have adopted is to donate all returned mattresses to charity. In most cases, a returned mattress is either donated by you directly or picked up from your house and taken directly to the charity. In either case, it never actually returns to the mattress company. I hope that's helpful.

I called and asked, Bear has you donate it to a charity and as long as you get an official signature for them you'll get the money back... They probably use this a a charity right of for taxes then

Hope you can review this new mattress called Quilbed. Was considering Bear but Quilbed specs were best I've seen. Haven't slept on it yet though?? Here is what I wrote on honestmattressreviews: True Story I came to this site saw the high marks on Quilbed but couldnt find any other source for a review. I thought this is strange. I even send a not so nice message to the mattress reviewer here claiming the review is B.S. (By the way completely owe you apology for that) Then, went to Quilbed website noticed they mentioned about this review and thought this is fishy. I examined their mattress but couldnt find specs anywhere. I dismissed the mattress as being any good for a variety of reasons. Then I bought the Nectar literally this morning. In the meantime, I contacted Quilbed to get the specs on the mattress, but before I share this info. let me tell you the extent to which I had narrowed down my selections. 1. The negative reviews from people about Nectar was about delay orders, bad customer service, not receiving pillows,etc...things that people who never started a big business probably understand so I dismissed some of the ridiculous negative reviews. Some were completely unwarranted and I question the credibility. 2. I did an excel spread sheet with names of various mattresses across the top with these categories a. Price b. 1st layer b. 2nd layer c. 3rd layer d. 4th layer Essentially, I was looking for material in the 1st two layers that exceeded 3lbs density as more often than not this is high grade of material 3. On the left hand side, I listed every review site and their review # for each mattress whether that would be Nectar 4.6 out of 5 OR 9.3 out of 10 4. Here is the breakdown of the final 4 mattresses then I will explain how & why I chose Quilbed The final 4 mattresses were Bear, GhostBed, Nectar, and Muse NOTE: I really like the loom and leaf construction but the price of $1400 or $1500 for King not economical, I also was looking at Nest Alexander Signature which did very good in ratings/reviews, but I noticed the mattress layers change when you go from medium to firm. I was looking for firm so the amount of layers decrease and the quality imo also decreased Here is the spec breakdown for each: Bear $900 1" graphit gel foam 4lbs 2.5 Memory foam 3 lbs 6.5 Support Base 1.8 lbs Ghostbed $925 1.5" latex 3.5lbs 2" gel memory foam 4lbs 7.5" base 2lbs Nectar $775 1" Gel Foam 4lbs 3" memory foam 3.5 lbs 1.75" foam ? 5.25 " base 2.2Lbs Muse $900 2" foam gel 3.5lbs 2" High Density Foam 4lbs 8 " base 2lb Total inches of Matttress for each Bear=10 Ghost=11 Nectar =11 Muse=12 # of inches of foam 3lbs + Bear =3.5 Ghost= 3.5 Nectar= 4 Muse=4 As you can see, Nectar had 4 layers, with a total of 11 inches. Their mattress was getting good reviews but their customer service kept coming up as issue. After ordering the Nectar I cancelled a few hours later because I ORDERED THE QUILBED once I spoke and got the specifications from the company. I DO NOT KNOW how it will sleep but the specs of this bed HANDS DOWN IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST VALUE IN A FOAM MATTRESS YOU CAN BUY TODAY ON THE MARKET!! NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! Here are the specs of the Quilbed: TOTAL 11 inches 1st layer- 3 inches of 4.3lbs of a blue, pencil eraser looking, like mini coils memory foam 2nd layer- 3 inches of a 3.4 lbs of a Quil Foam 3rd layer- 5 inches of a 2.4lbs of a Eco Flex Base Now, if you compare the specs of these mattresses you will also see hands down Quilbed offers the best bang for the buck. Let me dive in deeper. The industry average, probably 90% of mattresses have a core base of the cheap 1.8lbs foam. It is what it is. 100% of the foam mattress internet companies , that I have research offer NO MORE than 4 inches of quality foam, that is, foam over 3lbs+ As you can see from above, only Nectar & Muse offered 4 inches of this. Quilbed offers two things that are much much better, at least on paper 1. Layers 1 & Layers 2 are a whopping 6 inches of quality foam greater than 3lbs++ 2. Their base is made of an unheard of 2.4 Lbs of foam Again, these are only specs but dam that is impressive. But, it does no good to date a supermodel if she has a bad personality. While these specs are industry leading, I will come back after I fully can give my honest opinion on this mattress by sleeping on it over the next few weeks so stay tuned. But right now, I am super excited for this new mattress!!

Hi Mike -- TBH this comment feels like spam to me, but I'm wanting to give you the benefit of the doubt. To take you at face value as a well-intentioned consumer, I would just reply that foam densities are not nearly as simple as what you described. For example, 3 lbs density of certain engineered poly foams could be high, while 3 lbs density of memory foam could be on the lower side. So you really need to know not only the density but also exactly what type of foam it is. On the face of it, without looking in-depth at all, my take would be that the 2.4 lbs density in the base foam does sound good, but the rest of it sounds pretty standard. Definitely wouldn't be a principal reason to choose this mattress over others IMHO. That said, thanks for putting this brand on our radar. We will add them to our list for an in-depth review, however you are the first of our readers to mention them to us so they will not be high priority for now.

Completely understand. I probably wrote too much to make it sound like I woke for company or something. I think you can tell by my youtube in page that in fact I'm real!!! I did also take into consideration the various foam qualities. heck I can even provide the email receipt in private if you want to shoot me your email.....As you can see from my breakdown, I did tons of research including watching many of your videos. I can show you also my whole spreadsheet on the mattresses I was looking at. I do thank you because I had chosen a few mattresses based on your info along with others. I will share my results with you once I get it but if the specs even amount to 80% of the performance it should be pretty darn good. Again, early this am I ordered Nectar. **************************************************************************************** The NECTAR Sleep Team 11:13 AM (3 hours ago) to me We've sent you a refund You've been refunded $775 - order #37675 Hi Mike, Thank you for your order from NECTAR.
