The Bear Shadow, viewed from the Rhodes Big View, protected by the Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust. The shadow forms every October and February between 5:30 and 6:00 pm as the sun sets behind Whiteside Mountain. The viewpoint is midway between Highlands and Cashiers, North Carolina on Hwy. 64
